I've noticed in some videos that Android phones without physical buttons have back and home buttons always visible on screen. Does this impact usability in any way? Do they remove much from the size of the screen when playing games?
They stay on screen when playing games, but they slide off when watching videos and reappear if you tap the screen. Some apps dim them to little pale dots, for reading apps and such.
good
oleds are amazing pull your phone out at night, open app with black background, it's like you're holding floating letters from some kind of future phone
Good roms for s2? Preferably including Paranoid Android functionality i.e. Halo and DPI changing
oleds are amazing pull your phone out at night, open app with black background, it's like you're holding floating letters from some kind of future phone
I use my phone more at night than day. Until LCDs can match the blacks provided by OLEDs I am not going to bother.
Closing in on my upgrade :D

The difference is so minor and I wouldn't trade 25% off my battery or up 50% by using a GS4 instead. Yeah they are definitely "better" but the tradeoffs are too large for them to be actually better.
They generally go away when appropriate, and they're usually taken into account when designing a device. My OG RAZR maxx has the same usable screen space as my RAZR HD.

They stay on screen when playing games, but they slide off when watching videos and reappear if you tap the screen. Galaxy S4 Mini, or HTC One mini?
The GS4 mini has better spec, One Mini has better design. Pick your poison, really. Once AMOLED equals the best LCDs in power consumption and are just as well-calibrated as the best LCDs, I'll gladly switch. Until then, not worth all the issues that AMOLED brings.
What of the "mini" devices are better? Galaxy S4 Mini, or HTC One mini?
One Mini if you don't want to tinker with android, it's ok as it is, S4 mini if you want slightly better specs but, touchwiz, ugh. [editline]31st October 2013[/editline]
And with noticeably worse industrial design. We've been over this before.
And also without any kind of acceptable support, seeing as HTC already forgets about new firmware after just a year for their fucking flagships.
Thank you! That sounds reasonable.
You get used to them pretty quick, I'm still finding it a little difficult after having a device with a physical keyboard for 3 years. The onscreen buttons are pretty neat and have the upside of being dynamic and customizable. Took me a couple days tops to be used of them.
My Nexus 7 arrived. It might as well have shipped with the bootloader unlocked, and root installed, because that was the first thing I did.
I need to do a factory reset on my N4 so I'll just flash the images when they are released
don't fucking push me to do it jesus christ I did it before 4.3 I don't want to do it again
Stock rom flashed. Fuck the data, i will reinstall it all again. Now, to the update button.
Too bad my Samsung Galaxy S3 won't get kitkat till like months later. I'm sure SuperNexus will get a release pretty sharpish.
don't fucking push me to do it jesus christ I did it before 4.3 I don't want to do it again
I used the 4.3 factory images to do an Update in fastboot since I couple be bothered waiting the weeks for my phone to be selected in the system update, didn't lose anything. This time I think I will just let it wipe the lot and start fresh.
Not tempted to root and install custom rom or is that not possible for you? The only way to brick an Android device right now is to either give it 230VAC straight up, or throw a literal brick at it.
Just a tip never apply a strong sticker to the back of your galaxy S3, when you remove it the Super Shiny Cheap HyperGlaze Finish™ may just crack and pull off, leaving you with a mess of a phone [editline]31st October 2013[/editline] At least I can just buy a new back :v:
What's a good place to resell my Galaxy S3 besides ebay
