Too bad you can't send SMS through Hangouts, currently it goes through your carrier like any other SMS. It's just an SMS/MMS viewing and sending app, which is nice but it would be awesome if it will send SMS through Hangouts, not my carrier.
damn the nexus 5 is smooth as fuck

That would require a dataplan, and then it wouldn't be SMS either.

The fuck are you talking about? How would the receiving party receive the message, then?
Wow my bank are fucking retards..
Ordered a N5 at 10am this morning and its took until now [17:15pm] for them to let me know the payment hasn't been made [I think anyway, they just txt me asking if I had tried to pay the amount]..
I mean wtf.. Don't think I'm supposed to get this phone.

I mean over WiFi or 3G/4G like Skype

Through SMS through carrier, similar to how skype sends SMS to phones

also the fact that it wouldn't be the same number????
(202) 867-5309, text from me using hangouts
(202) 555-4587, text from me not using hangouts, but my real phone number
You do realize that costs money right.
Yes, I was half hoping for Hangouts to do that and for free...
there's actually a good reason why they didn't merge sms and hangouts
ok lets say i leave gmail open on my home computer, now i leave. within that 15 minute time, att's data goes down. if garychencool sends me a hangout, the notification logic will see me on the computer, and i'll never see those messages until i get data back or i go home
Doesn't republic wireless send SMS via WiFi?

they can't lol
TI gave up on SoCs
to update galnex to 4.4 you need the updated SoC shit, which TI can't provide anymore
blame TI, not google
My tablet's RMA seemed to work. They're shipping it back now apparently free of charge, I don't think they ever got to turn it on to see if it was rooted. I wouldn't be surprised if they just binned it and sent me a new one.

I'm a little disappointed. My Galaxy Nexus has been holding up so well up until this point. I guess in all fairness, its more up to date than most Android phones with 4.3, so there's that.
Though the whole reasoning being TI dropping SoC's (which I didn't even know about) makes sense.
[editline]1st November 2013[/editline]
Wtf TI dropping SoC's happened like last September how the hell did I miss that.
Still no excuse to not give support. Google can just hire someone to take care of this.
Help me choose between:
Huawei ascend Y300 (rate agree)
Htc desire 200 ( disagree)
Thanks.
None of those, they are really bad.

Yeah, no.
I can't, in good conscience, recommend either of these.
So I ended up getting my girlfriend the Nokia Lumia 520, as it seemed to be the best mobile I could afford.
Sadly, the Windows mobile app store is basically a graveyard, and she can't get her favourite app Wottpad. So I kinda fucked up, and now I have no money.
Shit.

The windows app store is getting better, but it's nowhere near "there" yet.
How much was the 520?
So,apparently PA team made a 4.4 ROM, gonna flash it and post some links and a pic soon.
So, as i promised, here's a link to the ROM: http://www.paranoidandroid.co/roms/mako/
It is an pure AOSP build, so you will need to flash the GApps (Also on site).
Incase you couldnt download it via the official site, you can grab it via those mirrors:

https://mega.co.nz/#!aRZQla6a!EGlE0x...edSDTAt5jatK30 (GApps)
And heres a screen of my N4 running it:

Also, the APK with the google phone icon didnt came with it, so if you want it, you will need to download GoogleDialer.apk from somewhere... Now i just need to figure how to root my phone on 4.4
There's also a Nexus 4 port of the Nexus 5 factory image, which a lot of people are claiming works better. I have it and I just had to remove the stock google earth and keyboard and get them from the play store and androidpolice, respectively.

Initially I thought it was £80 but that was only for certain carriers, so it was £95.
The Android choice was the Sony Xperia J, which I read was laggy and such, so I thought that the Lumia was the right way to go.

If you must get a really cheap smartphone this seems like one of your best options: http://www.androidcentral.com/alcatel-one-touch-fierce-review-draft
This article also links to other decent entry-level devices near the end

TI still manufactures SoC's although they're no longer targeting mobile devices.
Is Paranoid Android the new "mainstream" ROM (instead of Cyanogen)
Anyone know of an app or a setting that can decrease the dpi of some games? I have an s4 and things like Angry Birds (har har) have buttons and birds so small you can barely tap them! It's like this with a lot of apps that I assume don't support 1080p displays? Thanks!
TI still manufactures SoC's although they're no longer targeting mobile devices.
well yeah but the point is that the mobile division isn't there
Just got a Google Play shipping email. I'm hoping to have it by Monday or Tuesday. :D
I'm guessing they originally said October 8th as to not shatter expectations just in case they couldn't ship by next week.
