I hope the Nexus 5 comes to Latvia soon. If not, my next choice is the LG G2.
There's also a Nexus 4 port of the Nexus 5 factory image, which a lot of people are claiming works better. I have it and I just had to remove the stock google earth and keyboard and get them from the play store and androidpolice, respectively. Does this mean I'm going to have to update my Steam modification to follow the newer guidelines? Does this means that I'm actually going to have to do something for once? Fuck.
So,apparently PA team made a 4.4 ROM, gonna flash it and post some links and a pic soon. So, as i promised, here's a link to the ROM: http://www.paranoidandroid.co/roms/mako/ It is an pure AOSP build, so you will need to flash the GApps (Also on site). Incase you couldnt download it via the official site, you can grab it via those mirrors: https://mega.co.nz/#!PURn3CjS!BgPC5i...yj_MnjO451OWvA (ROM) https://mega.co.nz/#!aRZQla6a!EGlE0x...edSDTAt5jatK30 (GApps) And heres a screen of my N4 running it: [t]http://i.imgur.com/upfmblx.png[/t] Also, the APK with the google phone icon didnt came with it, so if you want it, you will need to download GoogleDialer.apk from somewhere... Now i just need to figure how to root my phone on 4.4
Can I use this on any rooted phone? Doesn't say if its restricted to Nexus 4.
Can I use this on any rooted phone? Doesn't say if its restricted to Nexus 4.
no n4 only
Spoke too soon. It just didn't pop.
Is there any way to force the 4.4 update to my Nexus 7 (2012) faster than it would take for the OTA? I have the bootloader unlocked but no recovery. Aldo do i need to wipe user data to flash it? Also can i flash it from PC without having to install recovery? And last question, does installing recovery requires to wipe user data?
Anyone tried the nexus 7 builds yet? I feel like installing it.
Still no excuse to not give support. Google can just hire someone to take care of this.
So, what you're saying is, all Google has to do is hire a dude, who will then somehow go into Texas Instruments, take it over, reboot the mobile division, hire engineers who know the SoC (which are basically going to be ex-employees at this point), and then support an SoC that's been on the market for almost 2 years and is pretty much EOL. Jesus, if Google is that good at finding and recruiting people, they should just hire someone to cure cancer while at it.
If you must get a really cheap smartphone this seems like one of your best options: http://www.androidcentral.com/alcatel-one-touch-fierce-review-draft This article also links to other decent entry-level devices near the end
I don't see how that alcatel beats the huawei y300 What's a phone with the best camera capabilities, processor&video chip, solid casing and long lasting battery. That nokia lumia 520 looks tempting, with its 720p video camera.Any suggestions?
Damn, those KitKat new features are handy, i never tought i was going to use Google Now. Also, thanks for posting the new rom here, its alot better than the other one, looks like the official one.
there aren't any images yet images will come out when the OTA comes out be patient and wait!
Damn... I really wanted to see new settings menu. Also I wanted to test how well would it run on my HTC Wildfire S.
Well I fucked myself in the foot, anyone know how I can connect my Nexus 7 to my computer inside of recovery (TWRP 2.6.3 or something) or the bootloader? I wiped my device and the rom I tried to install won't work. TWRP doesn't seem to have that option from what I can tell.

Easy peasy.

[editline]1st November 2013[/editline] Aaaaaaaaa, it doesn't work in either bootloader or in TWRP. I don't know what to do.

Pushing the ROM to your device is done using a command line program. Also, are you sure you have all relevant drivers for your device installed on your computer?
go to your bootloader open up cmd in your android tools folder, use fastboot flash rom.zip
I have one of those, but it's broken(it wont turn on). When I plug it to the charger there's a led in the upper right corner that lights green. sometimes it lights red. How can I bring this frankenstein back to life?
go to your bootloader open up cmd in your android tools folder, use fastboot flash rom.zip
I just used adb push, it's been ages since I needed to do things this way, I'll try that.
adb drivers are the most annoying thing ever uninstall any shit that relates to android drivers, restart, plug in your phone while it's in fastboot mode, download these drivers, right click the unknown device that's your phone, navigate to the drivers, install them [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] adb only works when the os is up, fastboot is used when you're in fastboot mode
Anyone tried the nexus 7 builds yet? I feel like installing it.
If you mean the 2012 don't try them, not worth the trouble. The keyboard pops up when you go home for some reason, in addition the launcher is somewhat stuck between JB and KK in styling, though I here installing it again would fix that. The gapps package is also so barebones and misses a lot of the new stuff.
Jesus christ, I'm a fucking retard. Now I can't get into recovery because I tried to flash a new recovery.img over twrp. HALP
Are you booted into android?
Jesus christ, I'm a fucking retard. Now I can't get into recovery because I tried to flash a new recovery.img over twrp. HALP
gg hopefully you didn't have anything important you probably broke shit, time to flash the 4.3 image
Are you booted into android?
Nah, I'm hoping to try the stock nexus image from google developers. It refuses to update the bootloader to 4.23 like it wants, despite me doing a fastboot flash for it such. Then the flash-all.bat bitches about it not having 4.23. It's on 4.18, can I get it to work on what it has now or does it need 4.23?
Download Wugfresh's Nexus toolkit. It can sort everything out, comes with root utilities, you can choose which recovery when rooting and you can flash ROMs while you're rooting it. [editline]1st November 2013[/editline] http://www.wugfresh.com/nrt/

I feel like a fucking idiot.
I'll probably buy a new phone soon, this S3 4G is fucking awful when it comes to updates. It's a nordic exclusive model apparently (Not i9305 but i9305N) so there's no fucking ROMs for it at all and still haven't got 4.2 or 4.3, will never get 4.4 it seems. Tired of paying 800$ for a phone and then not getting updates.
