Nope, saw it in person at a store, seemed pretty normal to me. I think Sony fixed that already with the Z Ultra, though.
Besides, to me, the whole "shit screen" argument of the Z wasn't as much of an issue as to everyone else. I've had the chance to play with one, and didn't notice it until I had it on my table and the screen lit up from an incoming phone call. Most of the time, this would not be something you would notice as you mostly look at the screen straight on.
Well, at least I do.

yeah there's no merging, the threads are separate and I like it that way. I think that merged threads would cause a lot of weird looking conversations.
ALSO, guys, did anyone else of you not receive any of the October 29 Google app updates? Apart from G+ update, I didn't get anything.
I got google+ what other updates were there?
19 Google apps got updated that day, most with KitKat support I'm assuming. But Hangouts got the sms threads, which I didn't receive either.

Got hangouts through androidpolice.
I don't remember the apps actually updating, just that their last update dates were changed.
I haven't gotten the updates to anything except G+ yet.

yeah they never actually pushed those updates, they just got them primed for rollout
19 Google apps got updated that day, most with KitKat support I'm assuming.
Yeah they were probably updates specifically for Kitkat and the N5
Shouldn't there be an option here to switch between SMS and hangouts?

There is two separate sections, if you go back to the list of current chats you'll see a SMS sticker on their profile picture which indicates that it's the SMS chat. You can still use Hangouts for Hangouts and still access them but the two are seperated.
I guess that's good because no one uses Google Hangouts (on my end) but everyone's using BBM

I'd rather it was implemented like that iChat (or something idc) thing apple has, where it uses hangout unless the other person doesn't have it, or you don't have an internet connection, in which case it automatically uses sms.

That would be much better, like have a "via Hangouts" and "via SMS" (<-- which is how it is now for SMS) in one chat. Or maybe tap on the name to switch between the two.

This is what I thought it did anyway, hence the question.
BBM has been out for a while. Has more people used it on your end
I have almost 20 contacts, 5 of which I chat to often.
I found BBM very annoying, at least on the iPhone. It doesn't seem like a practical messenger- I have to give people my random 8-digit PIN in order to chat with them, I wasn't getting notifications all of the time, and there was a ton of wasted screen space. I've always had the impresson that Blackberry tried hard but always botched the execution.
So, for what phone was the OTA? Every site i checked gave nothing on 4.4 for N4, but im still curious.
Also, pretty damn stupid pageking.

you'd know if kitkat was out

smileykiller447 DON'T LEAVE US HANGING
9 hours later and I still haven't updated.
There is no landscape mode in the app
No I'm serious :v:

Completely forgot to say it's for the GS3 AT&T.
The notifications can sometimes be very annoying
So anyone using 4.4 can confirm that they fixed that annoying camera bug in 4.3 where it would lock and shut off your phone at random times? That happened to me a lot in Snapchat, a few times in the stock camera and once in Vine.
oh goody, my sim doesn't even support lte
guess i'll have to go into the att store and ask for a lte sim without them realizing its for a unlocked device
And here we.....

...go.
Not 100% bugless, as it seems that some webviews show random black boxes. Dev suspects it has to do with outdated GPU drivers, and will probably be fixed eventually.
Still, not bad for an unsupported phone that only has official support to 4.2.1 (VZW version).
Can I ask, how come LG is so great at making Nexus phones, but when it comes to their own, its fucking terrible?
Also, how's LG phones so far?
The LG G2 is excellent, I wouldn't trade it for a GS4 if you paid me. Battery life is about 36 hours with regular use or 2 days which is just about a first with a flagship android phone. Camera is amazing and the daytime focus is by far the best, far better than the GS4 in every way. The Stock ROM was so good that
I almost didn't want to put PA on it, however 4.2.2 is painful and Light Flow didn't work with it and being able to customize DPI everywhere is by far the best feature ever. With the huge screen it allows the real estate for the on-screen buttons without cramping the screen. 32gb is perfect for non-removable storage and I haven't once wanted to use a sdcard that's 5x slower at read/write and 2-4x smaller.
The Snapdragon 800 is unphasable and the only time it slowed down at all was when snapchat glitched the camera control and ramped everything to hell draining 15% of the battery in an hour.
I absolutely love knock knock and the rear buttons, after a week of using this phone it's almost painful to use something else.
LG G2 has no expandable storage so that's a no go for me. I currently have about 40GB worth of data on my phone.

I'm definitely looking at the LG G2 or HTC One when I do decide to upgrade my phone. I've got awhile before that happens though. And it depends on if I'm staying on Verizon or going to AT&T.
Sony went for a grey UI, people complained about the bad viewing angles screwing up the colors. The Z Ultra apparently has a better screen than the Z1, taken from reviews, and I've seen the ZU in person, the device is pretty solid and I wouldn't complain about the screen. Kaabii would tear the shit out of us.
It's not just that, the display is just bad in general. Objective testing shows severe contrast and color accuracy reduction just 15 degrees from the normal.
Go with a screen you like. The only screens that are close to being calibrated to proper colors are Apple displays. Find something that stands out to you and go for it.
Me, I'd pick battery life over screen shit any day. Or anything else. Just love your phone for what it is and you'll be happy. (unless you have a potato.)
If the LG G2 had a rubber or metal back it would be a God phone

I really wanted to like the HTC One but the tiny non-removable battery, lack of a physical menu button, non-repairability and lack of an sdcard really put me off so I was holding off til the Nexus 5 oringally. I noticed this G2 and was instantly taken in by the button placement after using a GS4 and pressing Vol Up/Power all the time.
After playing with roms on my GF's GS4's internal drive I truly realized how much quicker a proper internal drive was than my slow as shit class 10 sdcard. On the removable battery front the removability of is only useful when the device has shit battery life(GS4) and is really just a stupid work around.
My battery in my HTC Desire Z after 3 years of extreme use(almost twice stock clocks) maybe lasted 80% what it did originally, with the huge G2 battery you might have to replace it after 3+ years at the most. The G2 is also rather easily taken apart or at least 10x easier than permanently damaging the casing with a HTC One. The only hard part to removing the battery is breaking the adhesive with cold, getting to it is decently easy.
The VZW G2 is the only one with wireless charging and the provisions for it, however the back buttons are mutated and retarded thanks to Verizon having to change things. The phone is sorta the redheaded stepchild to the G2 but it currently has the most developer support for some crazy reason.
If the LG G2 had a rubber or metal back it would be a God phone
I think it looks great, the rest of the time it's in a nice TPU case which is of course rubber. The phone doesn't have any bezel protection and the glass sticks out further than the phone. The back comes off if you pry it very slowly around the edges starting where the sim tray is by taking it out.
People have also been taking some steel wool or something to make it more of a matte finish by rubbing off the glazing, I can't find exactly what it was though.
[editline]4th November 2013[/editline]
Yeah, steel wool. Apparently it no longer shows fingerprints after that.

Someone else who knows how to sand properly used a bunch of really high grit sandpaper and took down some of the glazing. Supposedly makes it have a sort of grippy feel.

I think my N5 is drunk around Sydney airport, someone save it before it gets run over.
