bam, will turn your screen on when you do the moto x camera twist
[editline]17th November 2013[/editline]
you'll need to turn accelerometer monitoring on all the time in tasker preferences
also this will drain more battery, listening on the accel is costly batterywise
I've been having a bit of a weird problem with my 2012 nexus 7. For some reason certain apps act like I'm not connected to the internet when they have been open for a little while. It mainly seems to happen with the youtube and twitter apps, anyone got any ideas what might be up?
Apparently eBay doesn't like adblock and redirects you to the log in screen in a constant loop. Or something just wrong with how adblock does things. It was fixed when I disabled it and turned off the proxy. This happens for the desktop requested version of the website. No log in looping when using the mobile site.
(trying to adblock/fix friends n7 2013)
There's a dude in my year who bought an Xperia Z1, and he wants Kitkat, and the official software is at 4.2.
First I sent him screenshots from my Nexus 7 running 4.4, and now 2 hours ago I sent him a screenshot of my i9100 running 4.4, it's fucking brilliant.
The only real problem is that it's lacking one specific CyanogenMod functionality that I'm used to, and it for some reason can't read the microSD card, but I'm sure as hell not going to tell him any of that.

Battery drain... There was another cool method I saw in the past where you swipe the capacitive buttons to turn it on. It only worked for one device but keeping the capacitive keys on without the light on would also take a hit on battery...
Does anybody knows a cause for this? It happens every hour or so, it happens about twice, the second after about 10 seconds.

If you don't know by now, Nexus 4, running 4.4.
Is the nexus 4 still a good deal? I'm thinking that getting spare money for the N5 will take a long time, and N4 must have still a few android updates left, am I right?
It still has at the very least another year of software support. It's also still really fast, I don't feel the need to upgrade unlike my Galaxy Nexus which I wanted to drop as soon as the N4 was released cause it was unbearable to use.
"1. Go to MENU
2. Go to SETTINGS
3. Go to APPS
4. Look for DOWNLOAD MANAGER under ALL
5. Disable it then enable it
That's it. You should be fine now. Let me sum it up again in a chart this time,
Menu-> Settings-> Apps-> All-> Download Manager (Disable then enable)
P.S. If this doesn't work, try it it on a different 'download' related app. Disabling and enabling the app essentially resets it to how it's supposed to function, which was malfunctioning for some reason before this. It should not cause any harm to your device or software."

You're didn't update your gapps package when updating to 4.4?

I definitely updated them.
you still havent got a new phone?
[editline]17th November 2013[/editline]
when i get my nexus 5 ill have gone trough three phones while you still have your phone
Nope, still with a potato. 2 years man.
I wish android chrome wasn't so agressive with closing tabs.
I mean my N7 has 2gb RAM, surely it can manage my uni timetable (a static page) and one FP tab without having to close them every time.
My XP laptop with 1GB RAM and a 1.1GHz Pentium 3 managed more than that without stuttering. It feels like it's closing tabs premeptivly rather than when it needs to.
And by closing i mean that unloading thing it does.
That's interesting. On both my Galaxy Nexus and 2012 N7 in Firefox, I can frequently (not always) have pages not get killed AND switch between other other apps. And that's with only 1 GB of RAM.
Anybody own one of those induction chargers for S4? I think it would be neat to install in my desk, but I would need to know the max distance it works with.
There's a Galaxy Nexus at a local store priced at £115, is that worth paying?
For 180 dollars (probably will end up as 150 pounds) you can get the Moto G which will perform roughly 38 times better
wait a bit

Yeah, I saw the price for the Moto G after posting that, I'll probably pick one of them up if my iPhone breaks or if my parents want it back. It's only about £135 here anyway from Phones4U.
Moto G does not 4G
[editline]18th November 2013[/editline]
Moto G more like Moto 3G
You could always just grab something off ebay or swappa.

like damn it's so tidy
So pleased I've finally got rid of my Galaxy S3... Giving it to mum, feel somewhat sorry for her
For now I have to be content with my fake 4.4 :v:

I like how LG implemented some 4.4 features in 4.2 though. Already having stuff like fullscreen apps and transparent bars makes waiting a lot easier.

What's wrong with it?
What's wrong with it?
Samsung
Besides the obvious
Well, remembering my impressions from this phone... I ALWAYS was afraid, that i'm gonna drop it, because of their type of plastic, which slipped off my hands easily
Screen was kinda good (but PenTile'd, although this is hardly noticiable), and battery life too, but TouchWiz is a piece of crap. Even chinese knock-offs have better UI.
Not to mention strange light sensor behaviour. And design, damnit.
Im'ma going to stick with HTC next time. As for now... Sony.

I've dropped my S3 atleast 30-40 times and not a single scratch on the screen, only some small things on the side that is barely noticeable.

It's not about scratches. I just don't like to drop phones at all.
Story time: So, I messed up something on my TF700 and I had no idea what, so, like a proper android geek, I went to go clear the cache partition. Every stock recovery I've ever touched allows the user to wipe the cache partition. So I boot the device into recovery and... fuck. there are three options. One is a weird thing that I assume has something to do with the kernel, regardless, it had nothing to do with what I was after. The second was "Android" (so, boot). And the last one was "Wipe Data".
Well, now I'm faced with a choice. Do I go for it and risk wiping the device in the hopes that it opens a menu which will allow me to wipe the cache? I went for it.
It factory reset my device.
I had a heart attack for about 2 seconds until I realized... I back up literally everything even marginally important. G+ gets all my photos, any schoolwork is done in Drive... everything.
So the moral of the story is this: Back up your data, guys and gals, so you can factory reset to your heart's content.
