They had user profiles for 4.3, does anyone here actually use it?
Kim Dumbass Kommando recently posted a "which tablet should you get" article where she said android didn't have it. [editline]20th November 2013[/editline]
Google play newsstand came out and it basically puts magazines and currents together into one app. I kind of like the look and feel of the app but I miss the sliding from the left to get to the source selection pane to switch sources and swiping to read the article as pages.
I really like it. Currents had a great ui, but the newsstand one is great too.
And Kim is...
Newsstands UI is hot. I just hope that it isn't a complete and utter battery hog like Currents was.
My biggest issue with currents was that it took up a lot of app data storage.
My biggest issue with currents was that it took up a lot of app data storage.
I could see that as being a legitimate problem for your potato.
Omni ROMs split screen apps is awkward as fuck to use.
Omni ROMs split screen apps is awkward as fuck to use.
To be honest, the only "mobile" split screen I've seen implemented somewhat well is on Win8 Metro, and apps have been designed with that in mind.
I could see that as being a legitimate problem for your potato.
Lots of precious app data on internal storage. No space for updating apps or running much stuff smoothly.
can you stop calling the mini a fucking potato, its a brilliant phone.
can you stop calling the mini a fucking potato, its a brilliant phone.
No it's not. Source: been using it all day, every day for over 2 years.

I remember the Mini Pro being a really well reviewed phone, and nobody saw it coming.
Christ, my phone for some reason decided it wants to keep the LED's from notifications long after the notifications were cleared. Got an email, cleared it, the LED kept flashing telling me I have an email, 30 minutes after I read it.
How can Chrome have such terrible performance when the AOSP browser is sily smooth This happens on both my nexus 7 and note 3
I remember the Mini Pro being a really well reviewed phone, and nobody saw it coming.
It was an upgrade from the previous mini with a larger screen, better camera and internal specs. It was considered as a mid to low range device with a slide out keyboard and costed around $300. I posted this before but the mini pro was considered as a "business devices" as it was under Sony's list of business certified devices. Mainly because it had a slide out keyboard for a large amount of smart phone users who came from blackberry. At the time, high end devices such as the S2 were out with their dual core and 1GB of ram goodness. Not to mention 16GB of internal storage, gingerbread being very dominant and months later, the 10 cent sale on what was called the Android Market. One big issue with the device was the electrostatic noise, it was a big issue that affected many users including myself. Basically the noise would get in the way of phone calls, video recordings and audio recordings. You could easily hear it in a silent room. Search it up for more info. In general the device is slow but it's as slow as every other device in its spec range. What makes it slower is the lack of sufficient internal storage which makes it hard to install many apps, or apps that are large and require to use a lot of app data (I'm looking at you Gameloft games and Currents). Even after moving many things into a fast microsd card, the device still lagged a lot back in the gingerbread days. In general, it has a relatively good cpu and a decent amount of ram under the mid to low range device class. Similar devices of course had the similar specs, 1GHz single core processor, 512MB of ram, small screen size. What helped a little bit was that the mini pro had a small screen, it only had to render 320x480 instead of something higher on a larger screen with the exact same gpu. I'd say the build quality was pretty good, lots of people said that the slide out keyboard was good and lasted them long. I never use mine so it's pretty much mint today. Everything else was decent, it even has a dedicated camera button. It still looks sleek and "new" today. I've had a screen protector on since day one, no case since I didn't feel like I needed it at all. Thus phone has been abused by my rage and my friends and the screen still hasn't cracked at all. Physically it's good. But I've always ran into a million problems, from random phone crashes causing reboots to not being able to call anyone (that inclides 911) to not being able to take pictures to everything crashing and lagging all over the place. Screen sometimes dies completely after trying to turn it on, some games happen to run faster on larger resolution screens with the same gpu than on my much lower resolution device. I don't even know how that would happen. Some other games worked relatively well. Apps generally worked alright, Evernote was fast and everything until a year ago when they added the new ui and made it a laggy mess. PowerAMP works fine as long as I'm not doing anything else. Reddit sync works well, YouTube occasionally lags now because of the new ui. Browser has always lagged, even on mobile sites. Calling usually takes forever. Dialing a number takes a while, looking through contracts is even worse. Sending sms was alright. Skype was always horrible for everyone. Steam chat was smooth. Hangouts sometimes lags, camera lags a lot. Trying to get the camera to load at important or candid moments was difficult and sometimes the entire camera would crash and not work until a reboot. Games was a very mixed results, the screen can't seem to handle 2 inputs as it would twitch a lot. Everything else would have lagged a bit at some point. Oh and I used this thing at school, for school. I used Evernote to type up notes and studied off them. Even shared them. I used Google Drive for the obvious reasons. I've used OfficeSuite for typing up entire assignments, essays, lab reports and spreadsheets with graphs. I'm serious. I didn't even use the slide out keyboard at all. SwiftKey handled it relatively well and OfficeSuite was something that never lagged. I used it to Google stuff, spell words using a dictionary app, checked the weather otherwise I wouldn't care about the weather, ever. Taking pictures of notes and stuff was pretty helpful at times but I ended up never looking at them later. Some occasional audio recording seemed to work. Music for obvious chilling reasons and I think the audio hardware is pretty good. I don't get any low hissing or noises at low volume settings as seen on devices such as the nexus 7 2013. As a cost cutting measure, they made it to run at 100 percent and then somehow change the volume output. It's on Xda somewhere. This device was basically my media house, I'd watch several movies, tv shows and YouTube videos on it. I'm serious. Watching on the 3 inch screen sucks but it worked well enough for me to continue, even today. All in all, this is my first ever smart phone, it was $0 on contract or my parents wouldn't have got me this thing. I initially wanted an iPhone because I was always exposed to it and the apple store enhanced it greatly. If I got an iPhone, I probably would have been someone who uses Facebook a lot, texts all day in class and wouldn't have really went into this Android thread for over 2 years and counting, wouldn't have been as tech savvy with stuff like rooting and stuff. I also wouldn't be on facepunch, reddit and many other communities as often to chat with you awesome people. So many posts were written off my small phone. Glad I didn't get a blackberry or an iPhone. Apps like SwiftKey and how much I've spent using Google services and all of the paid apps is, and how open and customizable is what will keep me on Android as a phone and tablet platform. TL;DR: potato is still a potato, my first potato.
How is that fund coming along? More people need to donate!
How is that fund coming along? More people need to donate!
I don't donate to complete strangers on the internet on faith alone as a rule. [editline]21st November 2013[/editline] Meanwhile, Google has updated the Currents and Magazine app to be an all-in-one app called Newsstand. Suffice it to say that I'm glad I switched to feedly when I did.
How is that fund coming along? More people need to donate!
Currently $41.66 USD and £20. Thanks to all who have pledged so far!
I don't donate to complete strangers on the internet on faith alone as a rule.
I mean, I don't feel that way when I know it is going towards something like a cellphone. Once you are at the point in which you are donating towards something that is not important (food, water, paying bills, other financial support are things I would consider important), who cares if the person uses the money for something else? Like if he buys potatoes with the money I sent that is perfectly okay, it would actually be better than buying a cellphone in a way?

If my family get a tablet, the pledges are still going towards a new phone.
I'm still using factory one with Nexus text on it, getting my screenshield tommorow
Keep it on. You can scratch the logo off the protective film if it's really annoying.
Hey does anyone remember what the link was to the modded steam with holo ui?
Link is dead, someone else will have to extract the APK and dish it out.
Just got the Nexus 4 4.4 update. Downloading now
