This happens to my S4 every now and then. Android System hogs tons of battery when by all accounts it should be screen. Is there a way I can check this?
Install betterbatterystats from XDA and look for wakelocks.. Also, thumb that image please.
I tried the G2 in the store. It's ugly and confusing as fuck. That and LG do not know how to update phones. The chance that the G2 will get 4.4 is minimal. The chance that it will get the Android version after that is pretty much zero.
They've announced they are jumping a 4.3 update and just rolling out 4.4, they are shooting for early Q1 which is far before the Galaxy S4 will get it on carriers anyways. Verizon will probably cock it all up though, but who cares about Verizon customers lol. I'm loving my AOSPA rom which was out within the month of release and fully stable. The G2 still has more choices of roms than the Nexus 5 and some of the best developers from both the S4/One who jumped ship and chose this as their upgrade and love it.
The stock rom outside of the system ui colors(which the launcher supports themes), is pretty close to AOSP looking really. If you don't care for it the G2 Xposed module will take care of any of the real glaring issues with the UI people complain about. Rear facing buttons are by far the best idea to come to phones yet, I'll spew their marketing that it's really as great as they say you just have to give it a chance. Like with life in general people are too resistant to change, if you give it a chance you might hate it the whole time but I guarantee when you go back you're going to have a whole new respect for them.
Oh, they confirmed it for this year? Expect it halfway next year at best.
The promise was made for the Optimus 3D to get ICS in the third quarter of 2012. Note: ICS was released in the fourth quarter of 2011, making the ICS release for their (at the time) flagship phone almost a year late. In December 2012 they said it's not going to happen. I believe ICS for the O3D was finally released March this year.
The worst thing in my case was that Cyanogenmod and other AOSP ROMs all lacked the 3D functionality. Besides, the drivers were shite. When I called people, the people on the other end of the line heard terrible echoes. All because the only source code they had was from 2.3.
You cannot trust LG to update their phones, and with a slight bit of bad luck it also affects drivers in AOSP based ROMs. It could be a proprietary driver in the camera, bluetooth, the phone, 4G or 3G etc. You could have them work in the current version, and break completely in the next version of Android because they don't have updated drivers.
"Slap on an AOSP ROM" doesn't necessarily solve your problems. It certainly didn't for me.
The G2 has absolutely none of these problems, LG has incredibly got their shit together with this phone and have really shaped up and learned from their previous mistakes. Sure there's still a few teething issues but honestly they're gunning straight for Samsung/HTC. Currently the only widely experienced issues on the G2 on any AOSP roms is that the Sprint NFC hardware is different from the rest and has to be worked out. Anything else is merely just early development. All the stock rom apps like the Camera/QRemote are being ported over and everything seems fairly open and easy to work with. I have QRemote on my PA rom and everything works great.
I'm a derp. I went into TWRP and backed up my data partition, onto the data partition and saw nothing wrong with this. Good thing nothing went wrong.
Put the Google Experience Launcher on my N7 2012 and holy shit it looks good just a lil laggy though
Fuck yes 4.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S3! finally.
Any good apps to extend displays from a computer? A.k.a. Device becomes a mirror or additional monitor?
Fuck yes 4.3 on my Samsung Galaxy S3! finally.
Has anyone beat that Knox crap or is it still difficult to flash a custom rom after upgrading to 4.3
Has anyone beat that Knox crap or is it still difficult to flash a custom rom after upgrading to 4.3
If you did a 4.3 OTA, you updated your bootloader to a Knox bootloader and you're fucked on tripping Knox. Other than that, nothing actually stops you from loading a custom recovery and flashing roms AFAIK. Tripping knox just keeps you from downgrading your bootloader.

I didn't update yet because I'm wanting to install CM when I have the time set aside for any troubleshooting I might have to do
I didn't update yet because I'm wanting to install CM when I have the time set aside for any troubleshooting I might want to do
Should be straightforward, for the S4 someone just made a odin flashable firmware without the bootloader and you just flashed that after installing a 4.3 rom. Technically that's pretty optional but
I generally try to keep my radio up to date. If you're installing CM there's nothing else to do, just load TWRP and go. Unless the S3 is all different from the S4 that is, I've done it with my GF's Sprint S4.
I'm still really torn, fuck. I've had the N5 sitting in a basket then closing it and adding the G2 to my basket. I mean I legit don't do much on my phone, Twitter, Spotify, Browsing. Since I have my 3ds I don't think I'd play much on a phone.
Although from what I'm getting from you guys the G2 is basically a better phone, but has a shitty manufacturer in LG? That they would drop support for it and I'd have to manually fuck with it yeah? Man when I got the Desire HD I was just so set on it and it's been a great phone for the last couple years.
I didn't play android games much, and I thought I would never ever buy one. Then I got some through Humble bundles, now I play all the time(dem bloons though)

Cyanogenmod 7 worked great on the optimus 3D, except for the 3D stuff. None of the driver issues happened, just like your G2 now. However, when ics and Jellybean were ported to the optimus 3D, shit started to go wrong. They could work out ics, since similar LG phones already had it stock. Jellybean was a disaster. Things didn't work and they lacked drivers/documentation to fix it.
My point is that current aosp ROMs may work fine on the G2, but you might be fucked with the next version of android.
Secondly, them SAYING you'll get kitkat in G1 2014 does not mean you'll actually get it. They promised ics for the o3d in Q 3 2012. When I bought my o3d people said they had learned from their previous mistakes. They hadn't. Really, only time will tell whether they've learned. I don't trust them one bit.

I got the previous one before the latest mobile bundle, with Osmosis I think it was on it. That was fun but idk, I've got all the gaming I need on my 3ds. Well mobile gaming anyway.
Also, I was watching some reviews and I'm not a big fan of the OS that the G2 is running, is it possible to put stock 4.4 Kitkat on it? Cause if so I think I'll just buy a G2 and put Kitkat on it.

LG makes all the Nexus phones, the Optimus G basically gets anything the Nexus 4 does and the G2 is the cousin to the Nexus 5 in the same way. Houstonn basically had one of the very first 4.4 roms out working on the LG OG. If they are similar in price due to being in Europe land, get the G2. However here in the US it's $350 for the N5 and $600 for the G2. If it's around the same price for both there, it's a no brainer. But if it's similar to the price skew we have here it sounds like the N5 might just be a better device for you.

They already have a leaked internal rom which runs 4.4 on the Korean variant, it's being worked on at this very moment. It's already in working form, Q1 2014 is at most 4 months.

Yeah, there's quite a few AOSP based 4.4 roms out for the G2 currently. Half are still in early development but AOSPA is pretty far done and working great as basically a stock AOSP rom. Now Houstonn is going to start on merging all the PA features.
Wish more apps update to use the fullscreen ability in 4.4, snapchat recently did and its so good
Meanwhile TouchWiz has had the "immersive mode" since like 2.3 :v:

They are both really great phones, but of course have their differences, Hardware wise in terms of RAM and performance they're pretty much on-par. Features like the camera and battery are better on the G2.
If you want a complete stock android experience with no bloat and want to receive android updates shortly after announcement then the N5 is a good choice.
If you aren't too fussed about bloat and are looking for a massive battery life and other features, and aren't too bothered about waiting a bit longer for OTA updates then go with the G2.

TouchWiz have loads of good features. But it's so slow on some devices, it hurts :C
TouchJizz isn't #BEBEBE, fuck that shit.

The dumb thing is I'd probably be happy with either, but I'm so indecisive. To be honest I'll probably go with the N5 just due to the price point over here and the fact I can buy one wholesale from Google rather than having to get a contract.
Sadly a lot of providers over here suck balls, although I'm sure its the same in the US. My current phone is with that Giffgaff company who run through the O2 network, and have a pay as you go deal for like £20 and it's unlimited data, which is all I really care about. I can't even see any other provider giving unlimited data unless it's tied to unlimited texts and calls which I'm not interested in.
So yeah I'll probably just get a N5 wholesale through Google and go through Giffgaff again as they're supposed to be getting 4g by the end of this year as well.

The fuck is that?
The fuck is that?
I think that's when apps can hide the back/home/menu buttons to go "fullscreen"
Whelp that's the N5 16gb ordered from Google play. Cheers for the discussion guys =D
You know, after thinking about it, and since a quickfix for the lack of SD slot is as simple as a USBhost adapter and a small thumbdrive, I'm actually considering the Moto G. Moreso depending on how easy it is to root it.
Also, reviews said the Moto G's battery isn't removable, but I saw a picture of underneath the back cover and it looked like the only thing holding the battery in place was a little tab thing.
Quick question, i need to get a photo out of a hidden file (dotted, for ex. .nomedia) and my telephone screen is cracked so i cannot see anything at the screen. I can't see it on PC. How fucked am i?

Presuming your phone uses MTP to transfer files, just try to re-install the drivers, plug it in and set windows to show hidden files.
And if its set for mass storage, then assuming your phone is unlocked or otherwise accessible, plug it in and guestimate where the "mount sd-card" button will show up, then proceed with the above.
re-install the drivers,
How do i do this?
set windows to show hidden files
Already done
if its set for mass storage
I think the phone uses MTP for transfering files
Past that, a quick google reveals use of something called ABD.EXE, found in the android SDK, to pull the entire sdcard filesystem. I can't find a practical way to get just that utility though, so its looking like you'll have to grab the whole SDK and then get it from there.
