That is horrifying to read. It means it wont be easy to reach hidden files?
Past that, a quick google reveals use of something called ABD.EXE, found in the android SDK, to pull the entire sdcard filesystem. I can't find a practical way to get just that utility though, so its looking like you'll have to grab the whole SDK and then get it from there.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/ADB.zip Go nuts [editline]30th November 2013[/editline] Throw it in your C:\Windows folder and you can use it straight from CMD
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/adb.exe Go nuts [editline]30th November 2013[/editline] Throw it in your C:\Windows folder and you can use it straight from CMD
Curious, is this for my problem or S31 was talking about something else?
Curious, is this for my problem or S31 was talking about something else?
That be for you, bro. THat tool there should, from what I'm reading, be able to yank the whole SD filesystem from a connected phone. Has to be used from command line. semi direct quote from relevant XDA-developers post on an identical problem with another phone.
You'll need adb setup on your computer, and you'll need to cd your way into the folder with adb.exe. Now, plug in your phone. Open your start menu and search for "cmd" and open up Command Prompt. This is the basic Windows CLI (Command Line Interface). First, you'll need to open the directory of the Nexus folder you created earlier. To do this, type in the command prompt:
cd C:\Nexus
Now, you want to make sure adb sees your phone:
adb devices
The adb service should start and if it sees your phone it will pop up a serial number. If there is no serial number, you can't use adb while inside android and you'll need to tick the option or find an alternative way. Assuming it finds your device, you are good to go. In order to copy the /sdcard folder of your Nexus S, you will use the pull command. We will throw all of the files into C:\Nexus\sdcard, for reference. So in the command prompt, type:
adb pull /sdcard .\sdcard
It looks a little confusing but don't stress. Just make sure you type it in exactly (dot, correct slash, etc). This will take a little while since it might transfer up to ~15GB worth. You'll see a new line with "C:\Nexus>" with a flashing cursor when it is done. Then you can view all the contents of your sdcard at C:\Nexus\sdcard and do with them as you please. Also note, for this you'll need up to ~15GB of free space on your C:\ partition, make sure you have this before you start. Good luck

That be for you, bro. THat tool there should, from what I'm reading, be able to yank the whole SD filesystem
I will do everything that quote said but i got a question Is this deleting the system or something? My english wasnt enough for the meaning of yanking.
I will do everything that quote said but i got a question Is this deleting the system or something? My english wasnt enough for the meaning of yanking.
Yank, pull, grab, rip, TEAR, GORE, -ahem- copy. Sorry, it copies it.
So for some reason, when using the speedtest app there seems to be a cap of some sort on my phone and yet on a tablet/iPad there seems to be no limit at all. It might be just my phone or just the connection or just the app. Anyone else get this?
AdbWinApi.dll is missing it says. So far i opened a folder in C:/ called Nexus and put the file kaze uploaded on dropbox.
Hmmm. Since you grabbed that file directly and without the SDK, then you literally don't have that file. kaze4159, do you have that/can you find that?
Sorry, forgot there were .dll files too https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/ADB.zip Here's all the files (I think)
How do i do this? Already done I think the phone uses MTP for transfering files
Uninstalling the drivers in your computers device manager should work, the phone should then reinstall them the next time you plug it in. I'd recommend uninstalling the drivers with the phone unplugged though incase it tries to instantly re-install them again.
Sorry, forgot there were .dll files too https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/ADB.zip Here's all the files (I think)

C:\Nexus>adb devices * daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 * * daemon started successfully * List of devices attached C:\Nexus>adb pull /sdcard .\sdcard error: device not found
I'm guessing it didnt find the device?
I'm guessing it didnt find the device?
Is USB debugging turned on?
argh i gotta get into the phone to check that not sure. [editline]29th November 2013[/editline] The fucking telephone had that bright view again, thought i could open the lock quickly but NO IT SHOULD FADE AWAY RIGHT AFTER
If you can get it to boot to recovery, regardless of screen-usage, would that start with debugging enabled by default?
If you can get it to boot to recovery, regardless of screen-usage, would that start with debugging enabled by default?
Yes but AFAIK recovery doesn't mount the internal storage by default, so theres no way of pulling data from the device.
Sorry, forgot there were .dll files too https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/ADB.zip Here's all the files (I think)
He should just get the whole SDK. It isn't big.
Yes but AKAIK recovery doesn't mount the internal storage by default, so theres no way of pulling data from the device.
Ah well. See you guys at the jail
Yes but AFAIK recovery doesn't mount the internal storage by default, so theres no way of pulling data from the device.
Okay, farfetched idea, we find a representation of his debug-mode interface and we count the number of steps and button presses so he can do it blind.
Yes but AFAIK recovery doesn't mount the internal storage by default, so theres no way of pulling data from the device.
adb shell mount /sdcard ?
Apparently LG Canada and Germany have slated 4.4 OTA for March as well. If you want to see it all in chinese and what not from the Korean variant it's the first source on this article. I honestly think that March will be what they are shooting to have carriers rolling it out while the Korean/International variants will probably roll out early 2014 which is a little optimistic. I'd ignore what GSMAreana has to say, it pretty confirmed not to be rolling out to anything. http://www.gsmarena.com/android_44_kitkat_now_seeding_to_korean_lg_g2-news-7288.php
lol i've had a better camera experience on the n5 than the ht cone OIS rules
The cone and the n5 both have OIS.
The cone and the n5 both have OIS.
And stock 4.4 if I'm reading this right: http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-and-sense-55-rolling-out-unlocked-and-dev-edition-htc-one-phones-us I vote HTC for best phone company of 2013.
i wonder if it will support art
And stock 4.4 if I'm reading this right: http://www.androidcentral.com/kitkat-and-sense-55-rolling-out-unlocked-and-dev-edition-htc-one-phones-us I vote HTC for best phone company of 2013.
You should tell their stockholders that, if I could design a phone for myself I would have a HTC One Z which is basically an HTC One based successor to the Desire Z. I'd pay well over $600 for a proper one.. I like HTC but they just aren't making the phones like they used to that I originally fell in love with.
Is there anything stopping me from buying a no contract phone and using it as a mp3 player/wifi googler/ emulator player? Sub the cost of they dying Ipod touch I have now?
I went ahead and upgraded to 4.3 on my S3 instead of going with CM, there's a bug that breaks call display on my phone in CM Seems snappy so far actually
Is there anything stopping me from buying a no contract phone and using it as a mp3 player/wifi googler/ emulator player? Sub the cost of they dying Ipod touch I have now?
Nope, there's tons of pretty nice used phones and tablets on Swappa which won't be horribly out of date and desperately slow like what you'd probably end up with when buying a pre-paid phone out of a package at walmart or something.
Is there anything stopping me from buying a no contract phone and using it as a mp3 player/wifi googler/ emulator player? Sub the cost of they dying Ipod touch I have now?
Honestly if you want something like that you could always either get the Moto G (a bit on the pricier side) or you could go to your local Radioshack and pick up the Lumia 520 for $80. Failing that, you could try to find some used phones but I doubt you'll be able to find something decent for less than $100.
Is there anything stopping me from buying a no contract phone and using it as a mp3 player/wifi googler/ emulator player? Sub the cost of they dying Ipod touch I have now?
Fun Fact: I rarely use my Nexus 4 to make calls. Its more of a portable console really, the facts that made me buy it (Aside from breaking free from my Galaxy Y) was Asphalt 8. And ofcourse, its performance.
