You can move the window around and continue browsing and/or let it upload overnight
I don't want to have the processes competing for resources, the computer is slow enough as it is (wasn't really build for Win8). Also, I've got the laptop. And I should be working on my semester final paper, too...
or an extreme dislike for the (superior)button placement.
I love the button placement so much. When people use my phone they ask me "where's the power button" and I get really confused for a second before I realize that theirs aren't in the only logical place
I don't understand why you need a credit card for a free google play store book
I don't understand why you need a credit card for a free google play store book
I guess it's to keep track on the accounting side of things.
I don't understand why you need a credit card for a free google play store book
One reason I've heard is to verify your country of origin, since some content is country restricted. Not sure if this is true in the case of Google, but I've heard that about some other sites like Amazon and Barnes & Noble, which have similar policies that require you to have a CC on file to download free items. They sort of assume you have one, since most adults have a debit card or credit card and its fairly accurate 99% of the time. Not sure if they are available in your area, but you could buy a pre-paid CC that will at least let you get around the limitation and allow to get some free apps to boot.

And trust me, running more than one thing at a time makes this computer shit itself. It can barely handle one instance of Chrome.
What.
Its an old machine. And I'm on my dorm's shitty (low bandwidth) connection. [editline]8th December 2013[/editline] GOOGLE MUSIC HAS SD CARD SUPPORT NOW! And yet you're running Windows 8 on it Also how's the Internet speed?
And yet you're running Windows 8 on it Also how's the Internet speed?
Yeah, there was no official upgrade path for it from HP. And I couldn't get past pinging last time I tried speedtest.net. Straight up would not load. Part of it is the computer, part of it is that everybody in the world, including myself, is constantly drinking up bandwidth with xbox, netflix, etc. My day isn't complete if I haven't been booted from the network at least 3 times. [editline]8th December 2013[/editline] Laptop tells me 2.4Mbps down, .64 up. Ping 22. [editline]8th December 2013[/editline] Yes, the decimals are in the right place.
Its an old machine. And I'm on my dorm's shitty (low bandwidth) connection.
Define "old machine". I'm just curious as to how old this machine really is. I still use a Core 2 Duo laptop. That actually run phenomenally well considering its 7 years old as of October.

It's bearable when it's not peak hours, but the low bandwidth and slowness combined during peak hours makes the experience pretty bad. [editline]8th December 2013[/editline] Also, for comparison, my cell network is at Ping 59, 8.8 down, 5.6 up.

Their dorm internet is very similar. Slow and unreliable. I'm just lucky my college happens to have the datacenter for the SD K-12 schools and has oodles of surplus bandwidth due to only having a couple thousand students in the dorms. [editline]8th December 2013[/editline] My house internet has been misbehaving as of late. Often your lucky to get 1 Mb down but for some reason can still achieve 5 Mb up. I remember trying to download a Win7 ISO this past weekend and it would have taken 30 HOURS to download. LTE cell phone service saved the day on that one. I'm guessing the 10 year old cable modem needs to be replaced.
XDA Developers got a hold of the Verizon Note 2 4.3 update before Verizon released it, and they even scraped all the Knox garbage out of it. :v:

My family replaced the one in their house not too long ago. It was about 8 or 9 years old, I think. They'll replace it for free, won't they? Especially if it's that old.

Its definitely something modem side since a directly connected ethernet cable gets the same results. Supposedly my mom said they pay to lease it, so they should replace it for free. That will be something to do Friday or next week.

I ask because, if they haven't tested your cable in a while and it runs a fair distance, you could have broken connections that lead to a loss in bandwidth between the alley and your house. Happened to us. They came and re-laid the cable from the alley.

We have a support pole on the roof of the garage for both of them but it broke so they sort of were laying on the garage (neither cable broke though). Power company came out to fix it, but the cable company didn't. Might be worth it to have them look at it. Shouldn't cost us anything considering its the line from their pole to the box on the house. Modem might be worth replacing anyway, but maybe we should get that line fixed first.

Also, TV quality will probably get better ;)
Absolutely. You might see a bump in bandwidth just from replacing the cable. Also, TV quality will probably get better ;)
Our cable company completely dropped analog except for a couple basic channels. Probably won't make a huge difference in TV quality, especially since we don't have HD. But its worth the thought. I'm just tired of extremely unreliable internet. [editline]9th December 2013[/editline] Also the house's coax layout is beyond help. Example: cable comes into the house near the circuit breaker in the downstairs living room to get split up and goes outside to either the laundry room (to get split again to the bedrooms), garage or behind the refrigerator (fucking seriously?) to go into the upstairs living room where the modem/TV is.

We've got ours split hilariously! Comes in by the A/C unit outside, up to the attic, splits along 6 ways to the living room, guest room, modem in the guest room, my room, brothers room, mom and dad's room. One or more of those is split to feed 3 other TVs (randomly placed in my parents bathroom, the kitchen, and what used to be the back porch before we brought it in). This is what happens when a family refuses to throw away TVs and just keeps putting them in other rooms. Some of the TVs in my house have been around since before I can remember.
Now running 4.3 on my kinda-bone-stock Note 2. Bone stock since the ROM is official, but the root, custom recovery and bloatware removal are not quite stock. Suck it Verizon, the dev community is actually faster than you.

Reminds me of when they accidentally pushed a functional JB out to the RAZR for a couple of minutes months before they released the real thing.
Thinking ART would be too unstable and too early to try, I got sucked in with all the chatter and thought I'd try it on my N7........so many games crash, Swype stops working every few minutes, the GEL launcher is having a weird ghosting effect where the previous app sorta turns into the wallpaper, and noticed no speed/smoothness increase with apps like G+, hangouts, ingress, chrome.

I tried on my Y300 and boy sure it's faster. Really buggy to use thou, and sometimes bootloops.

Even if the WiFi is off and the computer is the only thing connected to it. But then again it's Bell so screw it.
That's because your tablet's already smooth with dalvik.
Compared to my N5, the tablet is a lag monster. Scrolling websites stutters all the time, the keyboard lags almost a second behind, ingress feels like it's running at most 20fps. It's far from smooth. At least it didn't have any trouble starting and running ART, keep hearing troubles people running like CM are having
