Some people just shouldn't have Android phones. This looks like something you'd see from the late 90's or early 00's.

Look at the screenshots then read the comments. I don't even understand people
Okay, so basically, my provider has given me an offer. If I extend my contract for another 12 months, I'll get a Nexus 5 for a very small additional fee, a cost much lower than what I've paid per month this year.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note II last december, a device which I absolutely love. One of my friends is very keen on buying it off of me, though, as his old ZTE Blade is in a kind of "not very good" state.
I'm very uncertain whether I should accept the offer and sell the Note 2, or refuse the offer and keep on using the Note 2.
The Note 2, I find, is better in the ways that it's got a slightly bigger screen, and great battery life.
The Nexus 5 is better in the ways that it's quite a lot faster, has a better display, is 4G compatible, and gets constant OTA updates.
Still, seeing as some of you have Nexus 5's, I feel like it's a fairly good idea to ask you some questions.
1. One of the aspects I like with the Note, as I mentioned, is the capacity of the battery, even when I use it fairly heavily, I still only need to charge it once every 48 hours or so. Obviously this is nothing I can expect from the Nexus 5, but does it at least last for a full 12 hour day of use?
2. I've never used an Android phone with software " Settings / Home / Back " buttons before. From the screenshots I've seen, I can't really say I'm a big fan of it, seeing as it just steals screen space. Is it possible to hide that bar while browsing the web and such?
3. How's the sound quality with headphones? I've read some reviews which say it's terrible, some of the complaints being that it's not loud enough, and that it doesn't provide enough bass and clarity. What's your opinion on this?

It's quite simple, really, not everyone has the same opinions and tastes as you do.
I've only got a Nexus 4, but I can answer the on screen buttons part. You can hide them once you are rooted, and the screen is made a size so that they are too bad to have.

The way you are talking about it makes it seem like you really really dislike the thought of getting a Nexus 5 and would much rather stay with your Note 2, so why not do that? :v:

To be fair, that does look very shit.

I really want the Nexus 5 for it's sleek looks, fast hardware, great display quality, and official Android 4.4. I'm just uncertain when it comes to the other aspects
It would also be great news for my friend, seeing as he'd get the Note quite cheap.
To be fair, that does look very shit.
I think so, too, but that doesn't turn it into some kind of objective truth. It's just our subjective opinions, and thus, I find writing something like "Wow, someone likes something I don't? I simply don't understand people sometimes" to be, well, pointless.
I use Chrome because I can't live without my synching between desktop and mobile.
The stock browser seems to do that for me already.

I was actually kinda feelin' it in the first two screenshots.
Well, you are using Internet Explorer (or Facepunch seems to think so), so you liking it is expected.
[editline]15th December 2013[/editline]
Although, the latest IE is actually really snappy, just too much Aero left over still.
Well, then I just flashed a complete other rom without a backup. Good thing it worked without problem.
That said, HOORAY FOR KITKAT. Note1 now running 4.4.2. Loving it so far. Just dumb that MX player does not have Kit Kat support for now.
Anyone got an alternative that works in KitKat?
VLC beta works well for me, running 4.4.2 on SGH-I747.

Can't talk personally for a Nexus 5 but I have it's higher spec cousin the G2. The N5 definitely lasts a day, the Snapdragon 800 will destroy battery life if playing a really resource intensive game though. My G2 with a 3000mah battery easily lasts two days with normal use. If you use the stock charger you can essentially just plug it in before your morning shower and grab it after you're dressed and you're good for the day. The QuickCharge 2.0 or whatever it is on my G2 charges insanely fast with the stock charger.
Yeah I think you can set 4.4 into immersive mode or something like that. If that's not your thing Paranoid Android has full screen PIE navigation and HALO which is pretty neat and with as much screen real estate as my G2 has you can run 5x6 on the launcher super easy. PA 4.4 roms should be rolling soon as everything is slowly being worked into them.
Supposedly the LG G2 was the "very first phone" to support 24khz audio out or something like that, LG really worked on adding a lot of spec to the G2 so most of that is probably in the N5. Don't quote me on this but I remember something being special about the audio in the G2 at least.

You can change the "layout" of the apps which have been set to "tablet" or whatever it is that PA sets them to stock. There's a ton of customization and you can tweak the DPI of individual apps with Hybrid on PA. None of these videos really show what PIE looks like for me because everyone seems to have hideous and horrible themes installed on their phones or the videos are really old.

What's the best Android smartphone at the moment? Price doesn't really matter, and preferably something that doesn't have a massive screen.
What's the best Android smartphone at the moment? Price doesn't really matter, and preferably something that doesn't have a massive screen.
It's a pretty subjective thing. Do you want a MicroSD card slot or not? Do you want a massive battery? Do you want innovative features? Do you want a pure Google experience, or do you not mind a heavily modded, skinned Android version?
The LG G2 is probably your best bet, judging from what I've read. But also look at the Nexus 5, the Moto X, the Xperia Z Ultra, and whatever Samsung's doing right now. :v:
g2 if you don't mind the asinine (imo) button placement choices / not 100% stock
n5 if either of those things bug you
if u want an sd card, go away you aren't a true holo warrior
also keep in mind that the lack of a MicroSD slot can be somewhat negated by either buying a USB-OTG cable and just using a flash drive or card reader, or by buying one of these things..
Small screen is hard in the Android world. Though the One Mini seems to be fast and small at the same time.
Moto X is considered small?

The Moto X I'm fairly sure is considered mid-size, as it has a 4.7" screen..
I'd say small would be the S4 Mini or the One Mini..4.3" is pretty fucking tiny, these days.
Also, the Moto G is generally better performing than the S4 Mini and One Mini. :v: Though I think the S4 Mini has a better (?) camera and more RAM.

Sorry I keep babbling about it by the way. I'm just excited to have a new phone. Nice upgrade from my Inspire 4G. :v:
The Moto G is great if you do not care about LTE. Which is a lot of people.
HTC One Mini. Avoid Samsung, their screens are huge.
Why the fuck does the play store icon keep getting removed from my dock at the bottom?!
The z1 mini is a mini version of the Xperia Z1 and it still got all the good hardware. c:
The new Nexus wireless charger is sold on the German Play Store now.
I am fucking tempted to get my german friend to send me one. Can anyone tell me if the german description mentions a cable+european wall plug? IIRC the charger sold in the UK had a US charger in the description.

Nexus 5.
Is there any way to buy apps from Google Play without having a god damn credit/debit card? I really want that widgetlocker and some other apps.

1. Move to Norway
2. Get yourself a plan with Telenor
3. Pay with Monthly Phone bill / Prepaid

Wow that's actually pretty cool and you get more screen space.
So basically you Swipe up from the bottom like on BlackBerry 10?
That's p. neat.
