Got my Motomaker Moto X today! I'm loving the software so far. I feel like Motorola has put more thought into software innovation than any other OEM.
picssss
if the moto x wasnt so stupid expensive off contract I wouldve bought it.
Aw snap just picked up an lg g2 today, feels great to have a new device to play around with! Also this thing is so fast holy fuck, I can do anything on it and the phone flows like water down a mountain. This is coming from my last phone being an htc one v, which was nice I guess but was painfully slow sometimes.
Only things I don't like about the g2 are the weird rear button placement and how it doesn't have a microsd slot, everything else is sublime
I wish the lock button was still on the top of phones
Or at least it sucks on the S3

I think with phones being as big as they are now, it makes more sense to have it on the side.
So is there any good flipcover cases for the Nexus 5 or should I just buy the official one? (It's like fucking 50€)

The amount of times I've flipped my phone out my hand trying to lock it is unreal, but that's because the case I have sucks
I'd rather perform a tiny climbing movement and press it on the top, than have to turn my phone sideways/hold it with two hands
Also with the S3 it's lined up with the volume up key, meaning I constantly change my phone to loud by accident, but that's samsungs fault

Just wait for some kind of cognitive input. That should solve all the button issues.

Nilkin do really good quality flip cases, my brother has a Nexus 5 with flipcase in red. It's brilliant.
Galaxy S3 has been on for 40 days now.

It's $350 occasionally. Just wait for a sale and the off contract on motomaker will go to $350. I'm loving it so far.

I'm looking to buy my first smartphone, but I really don't know where to start when it comes to android. What phone would you all recommend?

You're from the US, so you're looking into getting a contracted data plan, or (less likely) buying unlocked. If you're looking for the best phone for any price under contract, look at the LG G2, Moto X, and Galaxy Note 3. They're all different sizes and styles, so you have a choice. Moto X also has Motomaker available, if you want a customizable (but non-refundable) phone.
If you're looking for an off contract unlocked phone, Nexus 5 or a used Nexus 4 is your best bet. Nexus 5 is $350 new, while a Nexus 4 (8GB) is about $220 used

I recommend weighing up all the flagships from each company and deciding which you like best. Personally I bought a Galaxy S4 because I prefer OLED devices (I use them more at night) and I needed the expandable storage (currently rocking 80GB). The LG G2 is probably the fastest device you can get right now, Nexus 5 and Moto devices are the most affordable and the HTC One has the best speakers I've heard.
Every phone has pros and cons, just depends on what you want to use your phone for. Deciding on a single phone is like deciding on a single pair of runners.
Just picked up the Asus memopad hd7 for 70 quid, and I'm pretty chuffed with it, any recommendations on a nice game to try to put it through its paces?

I hate it when people make this stupid reference, especially when they don't even make it correctly.

I would assume all of the latest phones and tablets do.
Set the router to wireless N only and see what happens.

I go for a Star Trek: TNG reference, and someone randomly blurts out "hurr 42", sigh.
I recently got my first android as an early Christmas present; a Kyocera Rise running on ICS. So far, I like it. However, being the power-hungry person I am, I want to root the thing so I can tweak stuff like the system sounds and battery life. Of course, the Rise looks like the absolute hardest thing to root, seeing how Root Many Android doesn't seem to like it, and the other methods I've tried don't seem to cooperate, either.
Should I just give up and keep it as is or keep looking for a way to root this thing?
