Android Thread - The only phones with patented Kernel Panic™ technology!

I reset my phone (i9100) to stock firmware like a bit over a week ago, and I hadn't bothered to switch back to a custom ROM.
So I figured I'd test out the CyanogenMod installer. Thing is good, it bugged out when entering download mode on the phone, but I rebooted it to download mode manually, and it worked fine after that.
I want to see how well this snapshot works in actual use. I'll give it a try.

for the first time in owning this phone for 8 months, I can finally last longer than a day without having to charge.
AOKP 4.4 with ART enabled.
So I'm looking at getting a new phone, what are the best devices right now? I currently use a Galaxy Note II and I adore it, I'm completely fine with the size. I would probably just get a Note III or an S4 but I've heard that the Galaxy series aren't the flagship devices they used to be.

Are you stuck on a particular carrier?
Bit late to the Poweramp discussion but I find that the quality of audio from Poweramp is better than my computer's motherboard soundcard, especially combined with the bass, treble and EQ controls. Though I think my inbuilt soundcard is a piece of shit anyway.
Also, I had a great Nexus 5 battery day today. Watched at least two hours of live TV streaming over mobile network, plus another 45 minutes of screen on time with WhatsApp, reddit sync and Poweramp playing music. Drained about 30% total, I am very impressed.

Yeah, AT&T.
Yeah, AT&T.
Nexus 5, Moto X, HTC One, LG G2
Is there any other way to upgrade Android?

Same happens here. Tried looking for something of an EQ controller that changes the output on everything for my laptop but no dice.

How broken is ART still? I'm still using dalvik on my 4.4 rom
For me, some games crash while loading the main menu once or twice a week, everything else is working just like it did on Dalvik, except it's a bit faster. No regular apps crash whatsoever.
If you're on 4.4.1 or newer, ART is very close to being a stable thing, imo.
I have yet to encounter a single problem, but the only apps I use with any regularity are Steam, GMail, Awful Betamax, Chrome and the stock SMS app.
I've heard that 4.4 has bluetooth issues
occasional slight skip in tracks when playing music over my BT speaker (Logitech Mini Boombox, love it), but calling with it is perfect.
Obviously different BT devices might produce different issues.
All I've managed to successfully add to tonight's build is a fixed text box (There was padding beneath it).
What else needs adding or changing?

Once all the basic stuff is done, I'll not be putting out an update for a while since I'll be trying to add an actual action bar and navigation area.

I've just noticed text in the chat bubbles is slightly off-center. So that's slightly irritating.

Just fixed it now.

Installed Kitkat on my old Galaxy S. Holy jesus it looks horrible on low resolution devices. The toast notifications look like compressed unreadable cancer. Is there any way I can theme Kitkat to look like Jellybean or is it best to just roll back to 4.3.1?
Fuck, I saw the ____amp and got confused.
Today's update
Download:

Previous downloads, current download, thank you message with donor list and change log:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/iv8g5w8zg46uyf6/d6VMsfFTvx
Change log:
-Padding beneath text input on chat removed
-Text next to friend names are now the same as the colour of the profile picture containers
-Text in chat boxes is now centred
So as far as we can tell, there is no way to change the white accent colours on Kitkat to another colour? I figured PA or an Xposed module would be able to do it or some other theme that I have not come across yet.
In an odd bit of M&A news, the developers at Bitspin announced that the small company will be joining forces with Google. Whether Google has purchased the company outright or merely hired its Zurich-based development team isn't clear, but in either case, the big G will be benefitting from their impressive user interface experience soon. Google has not commented on the situation, and there is no dollar amount posted on the Bitspin website.
I wonder what this means for the rest of Google's products in terms of UI design.
For someone with a verizon S4 on ME7 that wants an unlocked android phone, what would be the best option?

But I bought the premium like 2 days ago... ;_;
I don't get what's so incredibly amazing about Timely. The clock font's animations are cringe-worthy, the animated backgrounds seem highly unnecessary for a clock app, you can't set a timer for the exact amount of time you want (or maybe I haven't found out how to, but you can't even set it under 15 seconds?).
The wake up puzzles and device sync is good, but IMO it's not something that every second android website out there should be pissing its pants for.

Have you tried Viper4Windows? Yes, that's a thing.

The overall smoothness and nice animations make it seem very polished IMO.
Eugh, I seriously hope that the next Android version is going to consist of Timely-like design. Fair enough live wallpapers or some shit, but not the menu's etc.
