If the carrier you're going to use won't be cheaper if you bring your own phone, I'd just go with a contract.
I love having the fuckload of features the S4 brings, but honestly Air View and Air Gestures are pretty damn gimmicky.
The One is coming some time around 5/22, that's why the DNA is free right now.

Really now?
Well I went to the VZW store and the DNA was pretty meh, they didn't have an S4 and the S3 was about what I expected, but the Note 2 blew me away.
I think I still am gonna end up with the S4, but still. Note 2 is pretty cool.
All those good games, so little time.
And im still stuck on a Galaxy Y, gotta wait until my birthday to get my Nexus 4

Well, coming from the iPhone, it'll be a big upgrade regardless.

Oh yeah. I'm afraid if I get the Note 2, it'll replace both my iPhone and my iPad, but iPads have good resale value so honestly I'd probably end up in the black.
I think long-term I'd be happier with the slightly improved hardware of the S4 which is why I'm probably sticking with it, but still.

does this mean I have downloaded it ten times?
My parents think I'm being wasteful by jumping to a new phone but I bought the iPhone 4 when the 4S was already out for 6 months. It's a two year old device that's now really showing its age
Oh damn, my merge.
I love my note 2, It my mobile PC really nowadays and it large enough to write on with the stylus and still useable as a phone and prettymuch everything else. even torrenting, If you want something to essentially replace everything on the go. That basically it atm.
damn, the new Google Maps are HOT. Can't wait for the Android update.
The new stuff is great. I wouldn't be surprised if they add SMS integration into hangouts soon, too. I mean, it already uses the numbers on your phone to match up your contacts to their G+ profiles, so you don't even need your contacts in your circle to message them. Sooner or later, everybody's Talk will be Hangouts, and messages will probably go through there if both parties have it installed.

Can you give a big list of changes and show pictures?
A friend of mine has an Evo 4G LTE, the screen is dead and not working, i don't know if the digitizer is working or not.
He needs all of his pictures off of the internal storage, but it's currently set to "Charge Only", It's not rooted and USB debugging is more than likely disabled, so unless there's a trick to use ADB to pull the folder without debugging enabled i'm stumped.
Any ideas?

note: I will be using Boston for this mini-review as it is the default location for the tutorial tour you're greeted with upon launching the Maps preview.
note 2: yes, my name is visible. Now if I had some spare fucks to give..
note 3: fuck, Fraps + imgur jpg compression. imadeahugemistake.jpg
Forget the old UI. Completely. Everything is now controlled by the search bar and a couple of floating buttons on the edges of the map. Intelligent searching such as "Directions to Cambridge" or "Pizza near Boston Police Department" works.
The maps seem to be using WebGL now (no idea how to confirm) and react much quicker and smoother than before.
The map data itself got a graphic overhaul, looks prettier, fresh and more detailed. They've also merged some functionality from Google Earth (in the keynote you could see space exploration/zooming out to see the entire planet in an actual model. That's not in yet but this view is new)
Map customization/tailoring results to you works great. When I looked at my home city I was greeted by a bunch of relevant results related to my previous searches, or where I was with my phone (with location history turned on).
To get into Street View or find more information about a street/place, you click on the map, a little white circle "explodes" under your cursor and you get a quick little box showing you the street/place name, and a Street View button. If you expand it, you get more information, options to save/navigate to the place and "Explore this area" which shows interesting things around the selected address in a form of little pop up icons that you could see in the keynote.
Obviously this is still a preview so some functionality is not implemented yet (I miss the measuring tool), but from my testing the preview is working flawlessly.
Here's an album of the screenshots I made, including live traffic and the new public transit schedule view: http://imgur.com/a/rtkNW
If you have further questions or requests on what to do, feel free to ask.
I also tried to make a video, but Fraps thought it's being funny:

We'll see who laughs when I start removing its files one by one, without using the uninstaller.
Excellent post iCole. I'm not too sure if I am gonna like this or not until I try it out myself.
It could definitely use a larger tutorial for people who are slower with computers. But hey, it's a preview and I'm surprised I couldn't find anything broken yet.

In Toronto, Wind & Public & Mobilicity are worth bringing a phone with you; Bell & Telus & Rogers aren't. I have no idea about Vancouver though :(
Yeah. Looks to be a bug in HTC phones (happens on my Vivid too).
Get JAYS Headset Control (FREE). Then slide the dial thing to "ADVANCED", click "SETTINGS", and then click "HTC REDIAL FIX".
You're a life saver, thanks.

Remember me talking about how I'd be disappointed if Google didn't use #HOLOYOLO at I/O?
I'm going to be disappointed if they don't slip it into the I/O at some point.
i knew this was going to be daniel sandler.
Does anybody here use an anti-virus?
I use AVG Free, and it has caught a few adware apps.
So I just updated Google Now and I can't find the "search with camera" option, did it get removed or was it hidden?

I haven't had a reason to need one on my phone.

I use a third party app market to get apps that aren't avaliable for my device on the Play Store.

Can't you just trawl the web for the .apks on a trusted website?
More changes to the play store (The sections at the top)

I went to scan a QR code today... yep, gone.
Google always seem to be 2 steps forward 1 step back.
Preordered my S4 today, should be arriving right at the end of the month.
So ready to stop dealing with my busted-ass Razr.
Does anyone know if the Google S4 will be released in the UK and if so, on which carriers? I can't find any information relating to it.
