Should have done that for the first iteration, especially the battery life, there were already a few iterations out before the Galaxy Gear, I don't know why they thought it was a great idea to start from scratch, in a way. Question is will it be Samsung devices only or cross compatible like some of the other competition.
I just disabled animations in the developer menu of my HTC One running Sense kitkat.
Holy shit I should have done this before. Animations are slow once you see how fast it is without them.
I also enabled ART on my tablet. Speed people, speed everywhere. Art so far hasn't given me any trouble.

I usually leave animations on 0.25x duration. 1x is just ridiculously long

ART is pretty much flawless at this point. The only thing that crashes is Sygic's new Speedometer app, but Sygic needs to kill their Android development team anyway.
And while you may not notice the speed difference on every device, so far I found one thing where's it's noticeable on many devices: Pressing the Recents button. On Dalvik, there was a bunch of stutters before it loaded, the pressing animation was all choppy etc. On ART it's mostly just instant.
Who needs to see those animations anyways
So I've found out that I can mod Facebook, Brandon is apparently useless and didn't look right when he went to see if you could. But, how did they get it to compile... So many missing parents, it's like a children's home in the styles.xml

Does using ART also increase the storage usage of apps?
Does using ART also increase the storage usage of apps?
Yeah, the cache of apps gets much bigger with ART
Isn't ART incompatible with Xposed? If you try switching to ART with Xposed installed, it'll just swap you back to Dalvik.

I guess this is a trade-off, some people without a ton of storage might switch back to Dalvik because of the extra storage usage which caused problems for the user.
ART is incompatible with Xposed, yes...at least, for now. When ART becomes the default the author of xposed said they're gonna work on having ART be supported by xposed...I'm intrigued how that's gonna work. I guess it'll be closer to MobileSubstrate from iOS at that point.
htc is now officially the first manufacturer to rollout kitkat to a device on all carriers

Motorola?

I read some app reviews and a lot of games were incompatible with ART, I'm guessing most of those issues have been fixed by now.

I've been using ART on my Moto G since I installed CM11 a week ago...No problems with it whatsoever. Not a thing has crashed, though there isn't much of a speed difference either, other than some smoother animations.

IIRC the ART runtime was slightly updated in Android 4.4.1. Now some games crash on startup once or twice after you install them (and after that it's ok), but the majority works fine out of the box.

Moto X and HTC One definitely lead the group (after Nexus, of course). It's like the other manufacturers aren't even trying.
For an I-747, what would the highest safe mAh be? I see a few 4400s, which is double what I currently have, and I don't know if that would make my phone explode in my pants or something.

How long did it take you to switch?
All 242 apps (I think?) took about 30 minutes for them to all compile, I think. Not too bad. Unless you meant to CM11 :v: In that case, all of 15 minutes including a full wipe, installing the ROM, and restoring via TiBu.

Seems like I won't get rid of that problem unless I root my phone (according to the Google).
looks like HP is ripping off HTC now

It's sad that both of those look extremely better than the new HTC One.

I don't like the black inner bezel though. I don't like it on the HTC one either. It feels like a well disguised waste. It's probably a limitation of technology though.
In other news, Papyrus just got pdf import. It's like 4$ though, and I already have lecture notes with pdf import.
Is it worth being able to properly write on a pdf with vector graphics? That's the question. I don't need it for now so I can postpone the decision.
Also, pdf annotations are shite. LectureNotes is already a lot better than that. The problem with LectureNotes is the layer limit and bitmap graphics which tend to look ugly.
Hmm, choices, choices.
Ok, quick question: I have an offer to trade my S3 for dual-sim HTC One (the one with sd-card support)
Do it?
Is the dual SIM version properly supported with custom ROMs and whatnot? It's probably not worth the effort if it isn't.
It's not (VIPER team right now thinking about including support for it) but I don't care, as I love Sense. 4.4.2 for Dual Sim is already out in India, so it should be soon in Russia. And if I want, I can always exchange it for ordinary One. I just want SD-card ability (I have one for 64 GB, don't want to lose it in favor of internal memory)

I don't think it's very practical to trade a two year old phone in for a one year old phone. You might as well wait a bit for the next generation of devices. That is if you have enough money.
Unfortunately, I do not. So, I think i'll do it. 2 sim cards seems unneeded, but it doesn't bother me much.
S5 has just been properly leaked I think.

> Bigger screen again, almost Note 3 big.
> Fingerprint sensor (swipe variety).
> Micro USB3 port.
> Flaps covering ports, water and dust resistant to standard.
> Heart rate sensor.
> 2800mah battery......
Also has a back surface with a grid of indentations (I think). Could be a nightmare for dirt.
