So I intend to buy a Nexus 5 in a week.
Can you recommend it?

Get a quality 1 Ampere USB charger.
HTC bundled one with their older smartphones, not sure whenever they've gone the Samsung (or is it Sony?) route and replaced it with a pissweak charger that only spits out between 0.7 and 0.8 Ampere.
Speaking of shitty chargers. Kyocera microUSB chargers all look the same, so one day when i decided to use my friend's charger I found out (after 3 hours) that it's only 150mA/h and not the 700 variant
Ok sadly fucking Tinted Status bar module overrides gravity boxes On screen button color settings so i had to disable tinted status bar to get nice red On-Screen controls, now i want a Blue HoloYolo™ status bar what was holos color code again?

I don't know why I'm surprised that exists.
Procapture was updated with a better looking ui and new on screen camera button. Basically now it looks more like the stock android camera.
Holy hell the nexus 5 microphone is the worst piece of Shit ever when it comes to recording. My old s3 does it a ton better, none of my videos today turned out good at a concert since the sound is so horribly inaudible and Shit, literally can't hear anything of the music.

I wouldn't be surprised if the phone actually used more power for initiating and staying in charging state than what it received while charging.
I've had that happen to me with a charger based around a boost converter design when the victim/source battery were almost flat but still had a voltage that the boost converter could operate at.
Problem is the boost converter's output current were down in the 100mA/h-ish range both due to the low voltage level, and that when a battery is almost flat they usually have a very high internal resistance and thus can't spit out much current.
I like the new htc phones but I don't like how smaller screens has to equal weaker specs. I like the fingerprint scanner on the S5 but I've heard using it sucks. The heartbeat monitor seems like it's only useful for showing off that it's there when you and you're family argue about phones. Would those features even be useable on a custom ROM? I don't see myself getting a Samsung phone but if I did I'd have to immediately get a rom because fuck Touchwiz.

Wait, there's a microphone in this thing?
Realtalk though, Nexus devices have notoriously shitty microphones. (Well, compared to the competition.)
Microphone is one of the many things skimped on to lower production costs. Is it worth it? Well if the microphone is really that bad I might as well hook up an external mic to it
The microphone seems pretty nice to me other than the fact that it seems ridiculously bassy for some reason.

Well if Knox even gets a whiff of the word "custom" it perma-voids your warranty and OTA anyway. Samsung doesn't give a shit about the ROM flashing crowd anymore.
Which is pretty dumb considering how one of the biggest points of Android is to be as custom as you want.
Is the G2 locked down ridiculously hard software wise (Bootloader, rooting)? After my terrible experience with the Optimus L9 I'm definitely leaning more towards never buying another LG phone again.
AFAIK it's technically locked down but there's plenty of stuff to root it and it's really easy to. It's not any Nazi efuse bullshit like a Samsung phone even though it supposedly has one which just displays that it's been rooted. I would suppose that it's basically just there to void the warranty on phones which are rooted and bricked which IMO is 100% acceptable.
Plenty of people have warrantied rooted phones with no issues so the former would be what is most likely the purpose. The G2 is also in a funny place where it's potentially one of the last phones which can't be completely locked down. The Nexus 5 is a viable alternative if you want a cheaper open cousin of the phone of course.

Nah, generally really fancy features don't translate over at all.

Note 3:

Rooted. Custom system status. And no Knox count. True I'm on stock ROM but Safestrap is available for my phone since it has a locked boot loader. Although I wouldn't ever use a custom ROM again that didn't have the proper drivers. My Note 1 was unstable as shit with non touchwiz ROMs. Fast though.

What were you doing recording a concert anyway? I don't know much about recording in general, but I'm sure phones are not really meant for that.
Just found the video with the differences between the white and black version of the Nexus 5.
Damn, I thought it would really only be a colour difference, but apparently it's not.
The white one also gets shipped in 2 days while the black one needs 2 weeks.
Do any of you own the white one and tell the experience with it?
I got the white one yesterday, but I'm using a case with it so it doesn't really matter.
Now that the Xperia Z2 is out, I'm not sure if I should get it, or the Nexus 5 Red. Or wait for the next Nexus to be out, will it be worth it?

Does ProCapture have any kind of manual focus setting?
Goddamn, do good video recording apps not exist or what?

Sorry, I've been away from Android for awhile, my last android phone was a Desire HD. What's Knox?

Samsung's lovely new hardware thing, supposed to be used for encryption and secured data or something
If you try to unlock the bootloader to install a custom rom or flash an unsigned image, it triggers Knox, burns a tiny fuse in the phone and permanently voids your warranty
I thought Samsung were cool with customs ROMS though? Do any other phone makers do that?

Read a thread on XDA today. Apparently only like USA and UK give a fuck about Knox. Every other country disregards it as a warranty killer since Knox itself has nothing to do with the handset.

I'm pretty sure everyone voids your warranty for unlocking the bootloader, but you can relock some phones so they can't tell, I know Nexuses can be
Man Omnirom is awesome on s2, the OpenDelta updates even make updating to each nightly a breeze with little user input required
