Going to Verizon tonight so they can see that they replaced my original G2 that had a dead pixel with one that won't let its GPS lock on, and then replace that one too. ugh.
I currently own a Samsung Galaxy S4 and I must say I'm starting to get quite tired of Samsung's shit. Before that I owned an S2 which was absolutely brilliant in every aspect for the time when it was released. Back then Samsung didn't put so much bloatware on it, and you could root the phone and install any ROM you wish and not give a shit about warranty or anything because you could always go back and erase any evidence of ever messing with the system in any way. Over time, shit has become worse and worse. Now with KNOX on the S4 I'm stuck with some old bootloader on which this "security measure" wasn't activated yet, which means I can't even update to KitKat and retain root without messing up the warranty (I don't want to mess it up since I'm planning to sell the phone some time). I would install an AOSP ROM but then again, many things on those ROMs are broken on this device, especially things related to the camera which simply sucks balls compared to the TouchWiz counterpart. So I'm thinking about getting a new phone some time this year and I was thinking about 2 devices in particular. The Galaxy S5 which just got announced, and the Sony Xperia Z2. As I said, I'm pretty tired of Samsung and I'm not sure if I'd really want to deal with this mess if they continue doing "the Apple" - forcing users to do shit they don't want or need. So which phone would you people recommend from these two? Or maybe there's some other phone with similar specification worth attention? edit: In the meantime, does anybody know of any good fully working AOSP-based ROM for the S4? The camera is probably the most important for me. I want it to have properly working PhotoSphere, HDR, and scene modes, including night mode.
What were you doing recording a concert anyway? I don't know much about recording in general, but I'm sure phones are not really meant for that.
It's totally ok as long as a vertical video isn't being recorded.
Updated Omni on my note 2, after reboot it was unable to lock. Like, screen would not turn off. Fully responsive, power button was able to invoke power menu and it worked after a reboot, but still.
Just found the video with the differences between the white and black version of the Nexus 5. Damn, I thought it would really only be a colour difference, but apparently it's not. The white one also gets shipped in 2 days while the black one needs 2 weeks. Do any of you own the white one and tell the experience with it?
Apparently the shipping times come earlier than expected. Someone on Reddit bought theirs on the 22nd and is getting it today even though it's expected to leave on March 7th (2 weeks). So I've been thinking on whether to get the white or black version but ultimately I found the black version to be better because of the grippy back and sides.
couldn't you use the gpe rom
The last time I checked, the camera app was garbage. Touch to focus didn't work in HDR or any of the scene modes.
What were you doing recording a concert anyway? I don't know much about recording in general, but I'm sure phones are not really meant for that.
Recording short snippets of concert is something I've done since I had my Desire HD. iPhone 4/4s has literally 10x better microphone than the nexus 5, it's fucking terrible. I'm literally on the verge of trading it for another phone.

Custom system status. And no Knox count. True I'm on stock ROM but Safestrap is available for my phone since it has a locked boot loader. Although I wouldn't ever use a custom ROM again that didn't have the proper drivers. My Note 1 was unstable as shit with non touchwiz ROMs. Fast though.
How can I make my note 2 status bar just as sexy as yours?
If audio quality is so important for you, why don't you buy a proper recorder Phones are generally terrible at recording loud concerts because of the tiny mono mic and being too high gain
The recording audio was fine on my S3, Desire HD. Can't even record outside concerts anymore.
How can I make my note 2 status bar just as sexy as yours?
I am using Xposed Modules. Primarily Wanam and less importantly Samsung Data Connection Icon Fix. I basically sat around for ten minutes getting everything how I like it in Wanam. There's lots of options. If you want, I can screenshot and write down what I have set up in mine. Or you can just figure it all out on your own. I found it interesting.
So I went to XDA to look for cool stuff I came back with this abomination [t]http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u561/lantek23/cooltext1138931846_zps55e0eebc.gif[/t] [t]http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u561/lantek23/cooltext1407581128_zps1f7cffcd.png[/t] [t]http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u561/lantek23/cooltext1138925358_zps6f5b5f4c.png[/t] Lots of banners generated from cooltext, which is just GIMP's logo generator :v: [t]http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u561/lantek23/nexus2_zpsa21be5b7.png[/t] [t]http://i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u561/lantek23/nexus1_zpsa1ef41d1.png[/t] Icons from the first page of google images, more horrible wordart text, it's got the lot

Echoes wasn't even on Dark Side.
Why is there The Dark Side of the Moon's cover art (but circular) in the first Echoe picture? Echoes wasn't even on Dark Side.
Meddle's album art isn't as recognizable, probably. But then again, nothing else is in those logos, so whatever.

Fuck you, no it isn't. >:C (Yes, I'm aware I can click the button and force install anyway)
Same with the Google Keyboard for me. Only way I can update it is going to the store and force click Install, then it updates.
Cool feature or gimmick? http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/26/corephotonics-dual-lens-smartphone-camera/?ncid=rss_truncated
You haven't heard a shit camera mic until you had a Nexus 4. The 5 is loads better.
I absolutely adore my Nexus 5, it's just these little things that really bugs me since it does everything better than my old phones except mic audio. I can live with it but it just bugs me, i'll probably get a camcorder.
I really love my Nexus 4 too, but the camera and everything around it (camera mic, for example) piss me off greatly. Lately I solved my problem of battery life by installing a great custom kernel, but nothing can fix this camera sadly.
