I bought a PortaPow cable: http://www.portablepowersupplies.co.uk/portapow-fast-charge-micro-usb-cable/ And it sorted all of my charging problems, and it even charges fast when plugged into a computer. I am not shitting you this cable really made a difference.
Isn't that just a USB cable with the data pins fused together? You could make your own in a few minutes with a soldering iron, or do it to a cheap extension cable and make an adapter
Is it just me or is the Play Store really slow right now?
wait what did they make the SD card read only on kitkat?
That's the gist of it yeah. If I'm not mistaken, I think they also give apps the ability to write as well, but with the limitation of only being able to write to their specified folder. Actually, better question is, why does Android even still use FAT32 for SD cards? Why not move to a native filesystem like ext4? Then you can at least control permissions at the file system level.
http://omegadroid.co/wanted-knox-void-warranty-0x1/ That's why I will NEVER EVER buy a Samsung.

Besides that, it looks neater, and I think the wire is thicker inside, I mean they say it is and the cable its-self looks visibly thicker. You could make your own cable but a decent 2.5M usb cable goes for like £3 anyway, and I'd rather just pay the extra £3 for convenience and a properly done, warrenteed job.

Doing it on the device, people would bitch about how they forgot to backup stuff even tho they were prompted on the screen to back up their stuff. Also to swap the card into a camera or something, most cameras support fat32 and not others.
http://omegadroid.co/wanted-knox-void-warranty-0x1/ That's why I will NEVER EVER buy a Samsung.
It's a damn shame that Samsung are such dickheads lately, since I love my original Galaxy Note but don't want to upgrade to a Note 3 because of this.
Samsung phones feel kinda cheap imo
I'm hoping to hold out for the next Nexus as I sorted the charging problem with my N4 and it's actually usable again.
wait what did they make the SD card read only on kitkat?
No. They did not. They restricted apps from writing anywhere they like, with apps only allowed to write to their own folders. However, there is a new API in KitKat which helps alleviate this annoyance, called the storage access framework. Apps can give access to eachother's folders through this, and it's unified throughout Android, so as long as developers start implementing it, we should be fine. [editline]27th February 2014[/editline] However, it's still a pretty crap solution to the shitty way Android handled SD cards..
The funny part about the whole SD card bullshit is that it's a one-line change to revert Kitkat back to the old behaviour, and literally every third-party ROM does it (Cyanogen does, OmniROM does, anything based on them does...), so the only users it's hurting is the casual users.
http://www.amongtech.com/windows-phone-8-1-can-be-flashed-onto-android-devices ummmmm The whole "can't switch back" thing is kinda disturbing though. I am sure people will be able to reverse it though once they figure out how it works.

Nexus devices don't have SD card slots in the first place, everyone else will be running a ROM with the change included.

It only says you won't be able to dual-boot, meaning have both android and windows installed at once and choose the one you want to boot into. My guess is that you will still be able to go back to android simply by flashing a rom.
What part of it are you trying to figure out. Like, how it works in general, or what it does on the backend or
So basically TextSecure is this SMS replacement app that encrypts your SMS when stored on your device. When your friend is also using the TextSecure app, it asks to start the end-to-end encrpytion. It's not like What's App. It's SMS only.
http://omegadroid.co/wanted-knox-void-warranty-0x1/ That's why I will NEVER EVER buy a Samsung.
I want a phone with an external SD card, replaceable battery, and (upgradable to) Kitkat, that isn't from a scumbag "no fun allowed" company.
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=65974 This is the most depressing read.
What the fuck, I switched to Android to get away from walled gardens and developer fascism. Now I find myself right fucking back in it.

Yeah Sony seems to be winning so far when it comes to Android phones for 2014. The G2 and Z2 are great, the S5 is meh, and the M8 we do not know much about.

It's not like What's App. It's SMS only.
If you have TextSecure, and friend doesn't, it's just an SMS app. If both of you have TextSecure and Internet connectivity, it goes over the Internet, does a key exchange, and the messages move encrypted over the Internet. If both of you have TextSecure, but one person is somewhere without data, but can still receive text messages, it uses encrypted SMS messages. Basically, imagine iMessages with working encryption. Edit: Also the app locks itself if you have a password set, so if you want to hand your phone over to a friend, he can't read your text messages since they're encrypted and need to be opened with your password. Edit2: I made a TextSecure group, anyone wanna give it a try? You need to PM me your phone number (and give it in international format, so USA are like +1something, I start with +35840 etc.)
Do you see it [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] Misaligned notification text with note 3 kitkat [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] Samsung's constant inability to align things properly is amazing... The best example of this is the clock on pretty much any device [editline]28th February 2014[/editline] Example here
So my mom went and bought an S4, because both her TF101 and Sprint S2 suddenly have passwords on them that she didn't set. What the fuck

What the fuck
She could've just tried 5 different passwords, then remove the lock by typing in the google account password, however that's assuming she has a google account and it wasn't removed.
