also anyone looking at dropbox space versus google drive space
dropbox lost.
google drive is now 2 bucks a month for 100gigs, or 10 bucks a month for a whole terabyte of cloud storage
Cloud storage sucks.
Cloud storage does have it's uses but I don't understand people that store everything on it.
Just got a text from Bell saying my SGS2's device balance is at $0. Meaning my old 3 year contract is soon at an end.
Since all of Bell's current plans suck, any ideas? I have no interest in paying $120 for 6GB when I currently pay $65 for 6GB.
Technically google drive/picasa/google+ albums is cloud storage, but I use it for image hosting
They don't count images below 2048x2048 to your limit, so you can upload as many as you goddamn want :v:

Actually you can upload as much as you want as long as you get it to not upload to your Google Drive, which would take up your storage usage. I've uploaded lot's via Google+ under private albums. Most of those photos don't need to be higher than the 2048px size anyways.
Only six more months till i can get rid of this S3 that constantly crashes.

any pictures uploaded, no matter where they are, if greater than 2048 on the longest side, count. maximum file size for a picture is 50MB, maximum video file size is 1GB
if you use sharex with google plus, you have to make a new album every 1000 pictures, because you can only have 1000 pictures in an album
(hopefully they'll change that)

Put Cyanogenmod on it
It broke tethering on mine (there's a fix I'm just too lazy to do it) but aside from that it's rock solid

I have Cyanogen Mod on it. It has a broken motherboard which causes it to crash constantly no matter what rom I use.

There is an option to upload the photos in full size.

If you leave it unchecked like I do, all images over 2048px on the longest end will be auto-resized and uploading it will not go towards your storage usage if you upload it via G+.
If you upload a large image via Google Drive, it will upload the image and not resize it. There is no option to resize the image. Whether it's a small image or large one, the size it takes up will go towards your total storage amount.
That smaller than 2048px thing only applies to uploading via Google+ Photos or Piscas. Not Google Drive.
Is there a way to make Youtube preload subscribed videos by just being on Wifi instead of my phone being required to be charging as well?
If I had gapps stock flashed when I originally installed PA will anything explode if I flash gapps full?
Cloud storage sucks.
It's useful as an always accessible flash drive, and it's nice to have all my photos backed up (sometimes.) But I wouldn't use it for much else in its current state.
Is it me or does the new comment thing on the YouTube app's design looks like complete shit compared to the earlier version?
It's crap if you ask me, it just overlays with the comment box instead of an edit box in the corner...
Oh god, Crazy Taxi is free for a limited time, It runs very well on my moto G. It's nice to have a phone that works :)

If your data isn't in three places, you might as well not have it. Cloud storage is first and foremost a offsite backup solution. If your house burns down and you lose you hard drives, you at least have the cloud with your essential files.
If my house burns down my data is the least of my worries.
If my house burns down my data is the least of my worries.
Well sure. But it would nice not to have to start from square one. Considering I have irreplaceable data that backdate's 10+ years, losing that information would be devastating.

Curious, what is that data if its not financial records or photos/videos
Curious, what is that data if its not financial records or photos/videos
Lots and lots of porn.
Curious, what is that data if its not financial records or photos/videos
Mostly photos and videos. Though some are documents of sentimental value.

And this.
I'd prefer my eventual RAID 6 40TB fireproof home server
If my house burns down my data is the least of my worries.
not for me. portfolios, resumes, contacts, invoices, financial history, personal data, all my passwords to banks and all sorts of stuff like that, etc. are all important. a huge chunk of my life exists electronically. if that goes up in flames im gonna be locked out of a huge chunk of my life for a very long time.

I'd prefer not putting all my eggs in one basket.

Megaupload would like a word. Cloud storage isn't a 100% guarantee.
Megaupload would like a word. Cloud storage isn't a 100% guarantee.
The likelihood that your house burns down and your cloud data gets completely fucked at the same time is slim to none, though. Although really important docs should be kept in a fireproof safe.

this is why i explicitly said "If your data isn't in three places, you might as well not have it." The super important yet relatively unchanging stuff is saved on an encrypted flash drive in a safety deposit box i only update maybe once a year or so, as well as on my own personal computer and encrypted in the cloud.

sometimes i think that you guys just really want to pick a fight.
[editline]14th March 2014[/editline]
if all three of those go down at once i can safely assume that the world as i know it has ended, and those files will no longer be of any use to me. seeing as i live in one of the biggest cities on the east coast us i will probably have been vaporized in the nuclear blast that would have to had happened for all three to die simultaneously.

not 100% then is it!
