You make ONE search and suddenly Google Now becomes the Jared Leto Daily Update Machine
Somehow Google Now learned that I'm interested in SMBC updates. I've never searched it in Google or anything like that since I got 4.1 so I don't know.
Somehow Google Now learned that I'm interested in SMBC updates. I've never searched it in Google or anything like that since I got 4.1 so I don't know.
It does that based on your visited sites and probably bookmarks.
That's why I kind of hate the news feature in Google Now. It has NEVER ONCE given me a news article that I would want to read. It's always the shit that I click once, stay on the page for 6 seconds before I realize it's garbage and close it. Two weeks later, Google Now is all like "Hey dude, remember the article you read about feminist midget north korean porn? No? HERE'S MORE"
Turn it off and get a bit more of time to think. I wished i could help, but thats the only thing i can think of atm.
no i'm perfectly aware of how to repair it i just can't purchase the parts right now
A school mate of mine gave me a Samsung GT-I9001, but I can't access the OS as he used a touch pattern combination which I don't know. Is there any way to wipe the phone through my computer? When I use a battery to have it at least power on and connect it to my computer Windows doesn't recognize the device. I'm quite a smartphone illiterate yet as this is the first phone someone gave me.

Yeah I did some googling, saw a YouTube guide, taped the battery of my brother's phone to it and it worked. Thanks a lot! Now to wait for the replacement battery to arrive.
So I have the opportunity to apply for a significant amount of funding on refund reimbursement basis for business related equipment (I develop bespoke apps [phonegap mainly but also native] on a self-employed basis). The deadline when I lose access to being able to apply is the end of this month. Currently I just test on my Samsung Galaxy S2 (with Omnirom 4.4) and old HTC Wildfire (2.3) but I'm thinking I should probably consider getting a Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 so that I have a current generation device to test on with current gen PPI and resolutions plus so I can develop for tablets. Good idea or would you recommend different phones and tablets? Would appreciate some suggestions :)
seems like you'd use foldersync https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=dk.tacit.android.foldersync.full
BitTorrent Sync? http://www.bittorrent.com/sync You can make it sync automatically. It's really useful.

I need a "middleman" server that keeps the files, just like Dropbox or Drive. Not going to keep my laptop powered on and connected all day.

I put my phone on the charger every night. It always syncs with my tablet at night. That said I must admit the fact that both devices must be powered on can be quite annoying. My solution was to hang my old Optimus 3D on some power cable running BTSync. My phone is my middle man server :v: The best part about BTSync is that it automatically syncs. The downside is that you need some server. Have a great idea: Get your own VPS, I'm sure there are free ones with enough storage. Run BTSync on it, and it will be like Dropbox except with auto sync on Android.
IMO N5 and N7 are the best choices for development.
Would that be because of them being Nexus devices with stock Android and guaranteed OTA updates or that they are solid devices in general? I would probably end up rooting and installing custom roms... would that in your opinion reduce their suitability for development by comparison with other devices i.e. Kindle Fire HDX 7/8.9 and Galaxy S4?

Obviously you might and will run into device specific issues, but in the long run developing on Nexus devices should make your life easier). I'm not familiar with the Kindle Fire's at all, but in regards to the S4, I'm not sure I would recommend it for development. As a daily device for someone who wants a smartphone it might be great, but if you want to get a little more "technical" with it, it's not that good anymore. Rooting is harder, very dependent on the specific Galaxy S4 version that you'll get. There's Samsung KNOX which is an annoying warranty voiding demon spawn thing for more experienced Android users ans Samsung keeps making it harder and harder to root their devices. Custom ROMs are probably still a nightmare for the Exynos CPU versions, to this day I still remember CyanogenMod devs pulling their hair out trying to get a newer version of Android work on the Galaxy S2 properly without source codes or new driver blobs. [editline]21st March 2014[/editline] Jesus, I write a lot on a Friday night.
yay it's friday! [editline]21st March 2014[/editline] To anyone here in Canada who is using Wind Mobile, how is the service and such now? Where you at?
The $30 plan looks amazing ._. Canada, please move to Norway.
I just heard stuff about bad reception in some areas and not fast data speeds. In my particular area, my friend uses it and he seems to enjoy it and recomend it.
Sometimes I wonder about the things I see on the Google Play store.
Where's Flappy Gummy? Gummy Bird?
Cerberus just saved me from a huge headache. I'm playing around with Wanam Xposed on my S4, and I enabled the "Enable quick PIN unlock," feature which automatically submits the PIN when you type it. The problem is that it automatically submits when you type 4 digits but my PIN is more than 4 digits, so I couldn't unlock my phone! Cerberus has an "Unlock" command though, so I used that to bypass and disable the setting.

So this dev decided to update his xposed module to make the "restart launcher" button (that you have to do to apply any changes in it) only available if you donate $5. This was his response to the feedback he got [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10437436/Screenshots/Screenshot_2014-03-23-03-59-39.jpg[/t]
Did he really call them dicks and then tell them to change their ratings to better ones?
Yeah, I'd be switching to something else if I used his module
I want to know who this is, just so I can download the module, leave a 1 star review and uninstall it again.

What does that module even do?
It would be a good idea to uninstall that module and then poke the dev of that module about that issue because lol
Nah, the setting itself warned me before I enabled it and I was too dumb to listen. [editline]22nd March 2014[/editline] Well, it warned me I could be locked out of the device, not that it used 4 digits.
Sold my phone on ebay, and because I used a photo of it running flappy bird as an example in the auction the buyer requested I leave it installed on the phone :v: I already wiped it, but I threw the APK on and installed it, whatever makes people happy I guess It's time for my S3 to move on, it's been a good phone for the time I had it, but I couldn't stand how horribly slow it got over time (and the plastic back started to look disgusting)
