Isn't LastPass the cloud-based password manager that had like a million security problems? They have a password sharing option, where you can share the password to another user, but it shows up as stars for the other user, except if you look at the HTML source, the password is there in plaintext. Hell, even trying to share passwords like that shows just how stupid the people behind that thing are. I'm thinking about using a password manager, I just need one that runs on Windows, Linux and Android, pretty sure KeePass database files can be used on all those platforms.

It lacks some of the neat plugins that LastPass has for say Chrome but it's certainly functional.
Whats the best battery meter app? I had "battery widget" and it constantly would get stuck at a certain point I'd restart my phone and watch it drop 30% or it would die at 25% to 35% on a regular basis and then I'd get it charged up a bit and it would read 5%

The rest of the service is pretty darn secure. Just have a strong master password and you should be set. They don't even have access to your passwords since its all decrypted locally. They pretty much just store encrypted database file not even your master password is sent to them. It's not any less secure than using KeePass on a Dropbox account. If someone gains access to your Dropbox account all they have is a encrypted blob that they can't access. It's the same with LastPass
Why the fuck does Google Music just stop downloading things, and more importantly how do I get it to fucking knock it off? I have plenty of storage.

If you store all passwords on their online service, and it goes down, you're hosed, so I'm assuming there's a local option.

You can also import your passwords from pretty much any password managers under the sun.
And then comes the my last criteria for a password manager: Is the source code available?
so im trying to tether from rogers but it's not working with the Rogers Tethering APN settings. Is there an app that can just use the normal 3G and set up a portable hot spot without using the Rogers tethering APN?
And then comes the my last criteria for a password manager: Is the source code available?
Sadly it isn't open source. So it's probably best to use KeePass if open source is important to you.
Sadly it isn't open source. So it's probably best to use KeePass if open source is important to you.
I'm generally cool with using closed software, but if it's guarding access to literally all my accounts, yes I'm going to demand that they're open.
I have another question...whenever I connect to wifi my phone feels the need to update everything under the sun....how do I stop that shit?
I have another question...whenever I connect to wifi my phone feels the need to update everything under the sun....how do I stop that shit?
Go to the Google play store settings, the second option is the auto update option. Turn that off.
Thanks!
I'm generally cool with using closed software, but if it's guarding access to literally all my accounts, yes I'm going to demand that they're open.
Hmm.. I might switch back to KeepAss because it'd be free on my phone, instead of having to pay for LastPass subscription.

You shouldn't have to. Just stay on the Rogers LTE APN
I'm generally cool with using closed software, but if it's guarding access to literally all my accounts, yes I'm going to demand that they're open.
I can understand your concerns but there have been people who have tested to see what's being sent to LastPass and everything seems to be encrypted before it even gets to LastPass servers.
I still don't really like the idea of someone else holding all the keys to my locks
It's more like they're holding onto a safe with all your keys inside that only you know the combination to. Where at any time you can copy that safe and view what's inside.
I'm generally cool with using closed software, but if it's guarding access to literally all my accounts, yes I'm going to demand that they're open.
Then use KeePass with Dropbox or something. My dad uses this arrangement happily. It even supports limited dual-factor; you can carry a key file on your USB drive and make it so that you are required to plug it in when you access the vault. I don't really care what password service you use as long as you use one because I'm totally convinced that passwords are more secure when you don't remember them and are random strings of gibberish that are 15 characters long. I am a happy customer of LastPass and will continue to be for some time. I like having mobile access, I like having Google Authentication support, I like how it's a plug-in so I don't have to jerk around with copy and pasting, and I like being able to export it to a KeePass file for offline access, and I like how it's one of the most multi-platform solutions available. [editline]28th March 2014[/editline]
I still don't really like the idea of someone else holding all the keys to my locks
I was initially very skeptical until I listened to this podcast. https://www.grc.com/sn/sn-256.htm The thing is that all the files are encrypted and decrypted locally. So even if some hacker breaks into the LastPass Servers? They're gonna have a whole bunch of worthless white noise. To that end, if you forget your master password you're totally hosed because they do not save your password and you will be locked out. So maybe keep your passwords in plaintext in a safe deposit box. Now I'm a premium user. (And not just because I wanted access to the cool features, but because it's a service that's so integral to the way I operate in my day-to-day life that I totally believe that it deserves my money even without the fancy features. And it's only $12 a year.) [editline]28th March 2014[/editline] Also, some food for thought. https://forums.lastpass.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=8 It's a totally reasonable thing to want to see the code you're dealing with if it's gonna handle your SSN and bank account details, but this is an interesting read.
how do i prevent my tablet from being active when charging is done when i disconnect the cable, it goes back to normal
how do i prevent my tablet from being active when charging is done when i disconnect the cable, it goes back to normal
what do you mean by active?
Try gsam battery
So tonight it died while it read 14%...are the newer android phones designed to shut off before the battery is completely drained? My old phone I could completely run dead
So tonight it died while it read 14%...are the newer android phones designed to shut off before the battery is completely drained? My old phone I could completely run dead
I always thought that when it says 1% on phone, it is really like 10% charge on actual battery, it just keeps a buffer so you don't fuck it up and completely flatten it. Generally phone turns off at 0% battery and displays warnings at 15%, 10% and 5%.
what do you mean by active?
that its on locked screen and its on low brightness
I just updated my ROM. [t]http://i.imgur.com/oQwFSxm.jpg[/t] It appears to be faster, but that might be placebo.
Huh. Fancy.
So tonight it died while it read 14%...are the newer android phones designed to shut off before the battery is completely drained? My old phone I could completely run dead
I think it depends on what phone and rom. For an example, on my potato it complains at 15 and 10 percent then dies out at around 7-9 percent. On other phones it complains at 10 and 1 percent then dies let.
