Personally I'd go for the Nokia 100. The problem with using an android (especially a cheapo one like that) as a party/holiday phone is the battery life. The last thing you want is your phone running out at the last minute when you really need to find someone, and it's so easy in the midst of a holiday to forget to put your phone on charge before you go out, pick it up just before you go and it's got like 20%, then you have to choose between hoping it'l last and risking it running out, or turning it on when you need it at which point you aren't contactable by anyone else. The Nokia 100 has amazing standby time, and all things considered is pretty rugged, which makes it an ideal party phone. Plus it only costs about £15.
Thanks, I went for a 105.
i reboot my nexus 5 quite a lot because the camera battery bug. It only takes 20 seconds to boot
Yeah the random reboots are verry annoying
They're not random?
NEvermind figured it out. Also, how does rooting negatively affect my phone, besides voiding warranty?
Yeah the random reboots are verry annoying
Are you using a custom Rom? I know my tablet does that after I installed an unstable one [editline]30th March 2014[/editline]
NEvermind figured it out.
That would be handy. There's an lot on there and I'm not too sure how to tell good quality from bad ☺
I assume you're in the UK. I don't think the items on eBay from Hong Kong or China come with free shipping so check for that. I've ordered the cheapest of the cheap before and I'd say they're good if not the same as the more expensive ones. If you're going to order off Amazon, of course read the reviews. There isn't really a user review section for eBay.
Are you using a custom Rom? I know my tablet does that after I installed an unstable one
I'm using stock, rooted 4.4.2 but I've been having reboots since stock 4.3 in apps like Camera, Gallery, Snapchat etc. but mostly in Snapchat
NEvermind figured it out. Also, how does rooting negatively affect my phone, besides voiding warranty?
The very worst case, with the bootloader unlocked if someone stole your phone and know a lot about android, there's a chance that someone can steal the data off your phone even if you have it locked. I think you can encrypt all your data if you're paranoid about it but that's about the worst and maybe the only con of rooting,l. Well that and bricking if you mess up installing ROMs (which won't happen unless you fail to read) and constant data wipes of you switch ROMs a lot, but the former is simple to fix so long as you have a computer nearby and the former Titanium Backup.
I can still get OTA updates and I can use my smart watch?
You'll lose root when you update
Rooted my Nexu5 finally with CF-Auto (Lazy fucker aren't I?) I'm new to this, but I know that backing up is important, so what's the safest method to go with, just in case I fuck everything up somehow

It's basically a copy of all system partitions and it stores them all in a backup location. If you mess something up, it's basically like going back in time. On a per-app basis, you can use something like TitaniumBackup to back up and restore apps and/or their data. [editline]29th March 2014[/editline] You can usually do a NANDroid backup in recovery. Well I fucked up my phone with a wrong kernel and now finally fixed it by flashing stock again only to see that I flashed 4.2.2 instead of 4.4.2 :suicide: [editline]Edited[/editline] Still stuck in a bootloop after restoring a nandroid backup onto stock
If I were to root my 2012 Nexus 7, what are some must have apps besides Titanium Backup?
If I were to root my 2012 Nexus 7, what are some must have apps besides Titanium Backup?
Xposed.
Xposed and GravityBox
Tasker to do fancy stuff
AdAway to get rid of ads and the fucking "LOL UR ANDROID HAZ VIRUZ HURR DURR" popups on websites like xda.
Okay, I apologize for not being able to put together information found on Google but all I want right now is to get my Verizon LG G2 off of Paranoid Android 4.2 (which is running Android 4.4.2 iirc) and onto the stock KitKat that was released yesterday. I didn't make a backup of my stock install so I can't just restore that. What are my options? Every source online cites different tools and steps for this, and I'm not even sure if half of them will give me what I want.
Have you tried updating it with your computer? If you can't figure it out yourself, call support, they should be able to help you with it.
AdAway to get rid of ads and the fucking "LOL UR ANDROID HAZ VIRUZ HURR DURR" popups on websites like xda.
I bothered the web admins at XDA, they are still investigating on the ad providors that do that shit. It's apparently hard to track down.
Backing up my files and then I'm going to attempt to root my tablet (I assume it's possible on Linux) I may be back shortly crying for help.
Have you tried updating it with your computer? If you can't figure it out yourself, call support, they should be able to help you with it.
Are you talking to me? I don't think Verizon would tell me how to get my phone off of a rooted Paranoid Android ROM back to stock without bricking it, lol
Well I managed to flash the latest paranoid android onto my 4 and fix all the bootlooping issues so it's running like a champ now. But when I was restoring some app data using a nandroid app restorer the phone shut off and when I held down the power it flashed a red light then turned back on like usual, only clearing the wallpaper I set for some reason. Should I be worried since the phone got kinda hot when it was doing that but I've never had it shut off?
Whoo! Just bought a Nexus 5 today. Any ideas on what I should install on it/do with it?
Whoo! Just bought a Nexus 5 today. Any ideas on what I should install on it/do with it?
Root.
My uncle is abandoning his old iPhone 4 for a Nexus 5. I feel victorious.
Root.
I left mine unrooted for a while, use it for a week or more before you go voiding the warranty Lets you see if you've got any weird defects you need to return it for
Or you could just live in a country where rooting doesn't void your warranty.
