I have caught now around 30 Pokemon, while several are duplicates. Some of them were from over the Pacific. So yeah, there goes that.
Wanted to catch at least one pokemon, too bad the nearest is a 6 hour drive away... Germany is completely empty.
Then I noticed, that you do not have to go there in order to catch it. Disappointed and excited at the same time.
Ingress: Pokemon
Ingress got boring real fast
Unless you live in a big city, the only portals will be almost a kilometre apart, covered in level 8 things
Plus it's one of those games where "Oh it's slow at first but it gets fun once you get to level 5", until then it's just grinding and hoping there's grey / low level portals nearby
Even really small towns are covered in portals here, but I never really felt like travelling across the whole fucking country/city just to play it.
Plus, it's damn near impossible to enjoy the game anywhere in my city, because as soon as I do something or control a portal, I get rekt within 15 minutes. It's like there's a squad of neckbeards on standby 24/7 guarding the entire city.

Do the smart thing and turn off email notifications for anything you sign up for (Facebook is the worst at this).
Submit the dumbest shit too,
Found this one day, it's 2 hour drive from the nearest city
So google is apparently forcing all manufacturers to add a "Powered by Android" logo on boot up to get the Play Store certification, like the average carrier phone doesn't have enough branding all over it

Ingress email notifications are brilliant, someone was working on the portals next to where I live at 8-9PM (winter months, dark as fuck), I got dressed and rushed over with my bike and yelled out his username as I went past him.
Dude was confused as fuck.

Ya'll wanna see the best fucking ingress farm ever? Check out Stockyards in Ft. Worth.
Also, I faction swapped a while back. I'm a toad now.
I'm a shut in so I don't play ingress.

I am too. The only friends I've made at college are a few of the people who play. It's actually really good if you want to socialize with other awkward nerds.
Holy shit

The HTC One M8 is a gorgeous handset. It feels premium and its hardware specs put it on par with other flagship smartphones out there (although some claim its boosting of benchmark results is considered cheating).
It also comes with a security feature which on the surface sounds like a good idea, but it could potentially backfire upon the user as well. According to a new discovery of the phone’s features, it seems that the HTC One M8 will come with a built-in security feature that will give the user only 10 tries to unlock a device before all of its contents are wiped.
Good idea, right? On the surface it seems that way since a wiped phone is basically a useless phone to the person stealing it, assuming its the contents of the phone that they want in the first place. However this could prove problematic in the event that children are messing with your phone and accidentally wipe it for getting the password or pattern wrong too many times.
It could also be a good way for someone to wipe your phone on purpose, whether it be a very mean prank or for someone who wants to get you in trouble. This would not be such a big deal if HTC included the option to disable it, which they haven’t. One way to go about this is to store all your important files onto a microSD card or cloud storage, so in the event the phone is wiped, at least your photos, videos, downloads, and contacts are still safe.
This is really useful! Although dickhead friends might abuse it
What was wrong with 25 attempts (or just make it less) before you're only option is to enter your google password?

And what if the premise was not to get what was inside the phone, but the phone itself to begin with?
In which case, you just gave the thief a new wiped phone, while at the same time made it way harder for you to prove ownership of it. Congratulations!
Samsung really overdid the bloatware on my Android version. I just rooted it and froze over 20 bloatware applications that are fucking USELESS.
Also, how can I take screenshots on Gingerbread? I believe I was running 2.3.3. I managed to take a few by accident. :v:

I don't think Gingerbread has the ability to do screen shots built in. If yours does, it probably an app or ROM feature.
I would never enable a device delete upon failed attempts option. Sounds like something someone would intentionally do.

Exactly. Unless you were using your phone to store company trade secrets, its basically just a way for someone to fuck you over.

I remember having that feature on my potato back in 2.3.6. but I'm pretty sure it's only because Sony put it in the ROM. I was kinda laughing at all of those root-only screen shot apps because I didn't need it.

Yeah, my old potato phone was running an unofficial AOSP build, it definitely wasn't a feature. Shake for screen shot (FOR *ROOT).
Couldn't you hold down vol-down and power to take a screenshot?
Couldn't you hold down vol-down and power to take a screenshot?
not until ICS
before that, depending on the ROM or whatever, for my potato on GB it was on the power dialog
There was an app that I used called screenshot no root (or something) that enables screenshots, but you had to plug it into the computer to set it up and you had to do it again if you restarted the phone.
The only way to screenshot without root on my GB wildfire was to use USB debugging
TWRP or CWM? I'm so confused.
TWRP or CWM? I'm so confused.
CWM is kinda the defacto recovery
TWRP is miles better imo, more features + proper touch controls
