Spent an hour setting up my mums new iPhones 4s. The UI is absolutely horrible and it just feels tiny. Messed around with my brothers 5s and it's still way too small.
Spent an hour setting up my mums new iPhones 4s. The UI is absolutely horrible and it just feels tiny. Messed around with my brothers 5s and it's still way too small.
Everyone in my house is making the jump from iPhone 4s to galaxy S5s next week. I'm ready to finally have a new phone and get rid of this piece of shit.
Hey I finally discovered how to take a screenshot in GIngerbread 2.2.3 Press the home button and return touch key
Why do some nightlies for Cyanogen just seem to completely break my phone? This is like the third time I had to wipe everything.
Why do some nightlies for Cyanogen just seem to completely break my phone? This is like the third time I had to wipe everything.
Because they're nightlies. They're pretty much compiled and uploaded to the public no matter what state they're in.
So The Verge just announced Android TV. Not a lot of info right now, except from screenshots and the fact that it's coming. Chromecast will still be around, no idea if they'll put Android TV on it, though (oh god, please, yes!) I'll get a link up soon.
I think they are trying to push it out as fast as possible because of the recent Amazon TV box release
Yeah, maybe. Anyways, here's the link: Exclusive: This is Android TV
Couldn't think of where else to post this. If I root my Kindle Fire HD just to gain root access and not install a ROM, will I lose everything on it currently? Thanks.
Because they're nightlies. They're pretty much compiled and uploaded to the public no matter what state they're in.
Just thought they would make sure that it doesn't break the phone and I lose all my data. Guess that's the risk you take with nightlies.
Nightlies are usually taken down fairly quickly if they detect a critical flaw in them
There's also times where a change in a nightly will only cause issues with a dirty flash, and I don't think they usually take them down in that case, because it doesn't show up on fresh installs.

Apparently they showed off Android TV at CES 2014.
On a side note when I've clicked 'View open source licenses' on a TV here I saw the AOSP FOSS license popup, how can I sideload Android apps to my tv?
You most likely can't. Just because it uses some things from AOSP, doesn't means your tv runs AOSP android, or any android for that matter.
It shows the popup in a holo theme and it transitions like one
Turns out you're right, I could find at least one currently available tv running android. Cool.
broke my note 3 a while ago, brought it to a shop for a guy to repair the glass. i walk in 3 hours later. "I broke it. here's an s4." ok
I've repaired the screen of my HTC One S and I can tell you it's the worst thing ever since the glass is fused to the AMOLED, but I was able to take it off anyway, note that I've done that after I've bought a replacement anyway because I was already scared of breaking it
I replaced the digitizer on an Evo 3D and I had no way to separate the LCD and the digitizer except brute force. I did it, and the new digitizer works great, but it's very shitty looking and I broke the antenna at the same time.

Oh man my contract is about to run out. Now I am too used to the size of my Note 1, are there any other phones out there that are around the size of the now and have a SD card slot? I don't really want a Note 3 since I fear that a Note 4 will be announce just one day after I get it. That already happened when I got my Note 1.

I would also recommend the Nexus 5 but that doesn't have SD card slot.
A heat gun really helps to make the adhesive between the two layers pop out easier
Yeah, I know. Not having a heat gun or even a blowdryer makes that pretty hard. But like I said, successful repair, so whatever.
I like Sense better than AOSP to be honest
You're dead to me.
I like Sense better than AOSP to be honest
I like AOSP the best, but Sense is the only manufacturer skin I like IMO.
I like Sense better than AOSP to be honest
Sense 5 and 6 are pretty damn good.
I think my biggest problem with any skin on top of Android is that third party apps wouldn't fit in too much, since they're mostly built to look at home in stock Android. Sense 5/6 is probably the first manufacturer skin that doesn't look like it's trying too hard (TouchWiz is a textbook example of this), though.
Ahhh, the days when Sense was the most hated manufacturer skin... A bit nostalgic for some reason.
Ahhh, the days when Sense was the most hated manufacturer skin... A bit nostalgic for some reason.
It was well deserved. In the Sense 3/3.5/3.6 days, it was a bloated, ugly pile of shit. With a nice clock widget.
