I'm trying to root my Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
Do I REALLY need an SD card? I'm being told to use CWM. Generally it seems I shouldn't have to use SD cards (based on what I read everywhere), but CWM isn't giving me an option to install zip from internal memory.

What do you mean?
Install zip > Install zip from /sdcard
This happens after a recent change in Chrome (or, it's rendering engine, to be exact). Something to do with XDA not having correct padding information or whatever. Switching to landscape and back to potrait fixes it. Not sure if other browsers are affected.
XDA is a retarded forum anyway. 80% of the ROM/kernels threads are filled with off topic waste without any useful information (seriously, hells-core kernel thread is filled with people talking about relationships and their work and countries every second page), and if you ask a question about something that was never asked, you get told to fuck off and search 70000 pages.
it is a horrible place.

And if an app developer decides to turn his app into a virus, posting about it would get you banned for trolling, along with a swarm of "why dont u try better" and "its not ur app shut up hater POSTED FROM MY XPERIA DILDO YOLOSWAG ROM FROM TAPATALK PRO" posts

But I don't HAVE an SD card so that option doesn't work :v:
Whatever, went out and bought a 4GB card. Only cost me about 5 bucks.
I need some help on a issue I've got for quite a while.
I've got a Samsung Galaxy S Plus GT-I9001 (For those who don't know), and I want to squeeze as much hours out of the battery as possible. Is there a way to prevent the Google Play services and other background applications to run when I don't use the phone? I've disabled background data in settings > accounts and sync but certain background applications keep starting up again and drain my damned battery.
The device is rooted by the way.
I would greatly appreciate some help on this.

That goes to your INTERNAL SD card.

The option in recovery sounds confusing, but it actually means your internal sd card (as in internal storage). I don't get why isn't it renamed to "Install from internal storage" already..

Might just be my goldfish memory but I recall attempting using the /sdcard option and it gave me nothing in the list.

REGARDLESS OF THAT, 'NOTHER QUESTION:
I just realized how fucking complicated it is to root because there's like a bazillion versions of each firmware. I'm on the firmware for Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 P5220.
Some guides never go into any description of what version they're rooting. Does it matter at all? In some cases I see people be more specific and warning that "If you root this and you have the wrong version you might brick your device", and that is a less than preferable outcome.

Apparently I should be fine with the root method for 5210.
Hoping for the best.
I wanna get Ubuntu running on this.

I've found the only way to get anything done on XDA is to start cracking skulls until someone with two brain cells actually bothers to post.
My battery life has been cut by three times after the kitkat update. Nice.
I've not done any mods for Holofication Nation for a while, I want to do one but I can't decide what app to holofy. Any suggestions?

I'd ask you to do my bank's app but it's basically just a shell for their webapp, it's really annoying...

Make a dark holo version of Facebook/Messenger please. The amount of white in that app is eating my soul.
Dark version of Google Hangouts would be nice.

We're not doing system apps, since we want our apps to be available to as many people as possible, and not all users are rooted to be able to replace system apps.

Decompiling Mailbox by Dropbox then recompiling it causes a force close, looks like that's stuck as iOS 7.
Quickoffice? Twitter app? Evernote?

Each one of those are holo anyway. Well, Twitter is the exception, it almost is, but too close to holo to bother.

Not everyone. I took the antidote, called Cyanogenmod.
[editline]9th April 2014[/editline]
Speaking of Cyanogenmod, "lockscreen custom wallpaper" just got merged into cm-11.0. That was one feature I was really missing.
Is it just me or can I not find the Cyanogenmod updater in my build of 11 on my N7 2012?
What's your guys' take on that Samsung Project F crap? Part of me wants to believe the hype because the rest of me is pretty disappointed in this year's flagships. The revealed S5 looks to be the frontrunner spec wise, but... Dat bandaid.
So my Nexus 5 came in (Yay!) and it's been great so far. Only thing is I'm trying to remove all the pre-loaded music junk and can't figure it out

What preloaded music junk are you talking about?

if you're talking about google play music
it's a system app
there's no getting rid of it
embrace the cloud, let it envelop you and ride on a sweet soft cushion of data
i want the cloud to go away and leave me alone forever

How's the potato fund going?
How long do you guys think the LG G3 is gonna be? I'm holding off on buying an S5 cause of it.

tbh I don't see how they could improve it over the G2. If it's true that it's gonna have a QHD display then that is just ridiculous and unneeded. If I were you I'd wait for it to come out then get a G2 for cheap.

haven't found the time to get it done
