so why can't the default android camera detect a QR code and scan it?
it can detect faces why cant it process QR codes
I'm wondering if iOS7 will have this as a stock feature, as they'll "invent" it
[editline]1st May 2013[/editline]
It'd be a pretty cool stock feature, one less app I need to install
I don't know if you're just catching on to the hiss. How bad is it? I know that I could definitely hear it on just about every phone I've ever used, there would always be a slight click a few seconds after audio stopped too.
You're likely right. It's nearly inaudible in most songs. I just heard it clearly in one song before looking for it in others, which is when I started hearing it in all of them.

I think some phone maker camera apps have this but not stock Google camera app

Google Goggles can do that
Heh, Goggles. Google's app that still looks like Gingerbread.
Try scrolling through settings or the launcher without taking your finger off the display. It makes an HTC Wildfire feel like an iPhone 5 in comparison. I dunno what it is, but Microsoft's method for touch input is behind even Android when it comes to trying to animate and do touch input at the same time.
Their touch input is consistently weird. At times I would tap and hold just a bit before starting to scroll and I would just get a tap, usually going somewhere that I didn't want to.
Microsoft needs to step it up, they need to stop being Microsoft iOS and be a better Android.
The one is better in every way except for the SD slot and the removable battery. The GPU is worse than the one in the Octa S4 but 3D games are all designed for the SGX543MP2/MP3 so it doesn't matter anyway.
The camera is decidedly worse in broad daylight, but indoors it's not even a competition. AFAIK if you turn on auto night mode on the S4, it basically turns on indoors 100% of the time. The exposure and HDR merging means shot to shot latency is on the order of seconds.
I'm pretty sure that Android game makers are using Adreno 225/320 as optimization targets now, Snapdragon is probably the single most popular SoC in the Android space.
My new favorite general phone case/music player case is the Speck Candyshell
It's so sexy, but the only unsexy thing is the price
I fucking hated those things. I take my cases on and off of phones regularly to clean the inside of the case of lint and other crap, the plastic shell on those cases is too weak to sustain constant bending so mine started breaking within a few months. The plastic shell scratches to hell and is incredibly obvious too.
How long do you guys thing is the Galaxy S III going to stay relevant for?
I am looking towards getting a new phone upgrade and I don't have much money so the only viable choice is a contract for 3+ years

Another six months or so. If money is the main object, I'd go for a N4.
Is the HTC One the Android phone to get right now? I'm looking for a new phone right now, and it's between that and the next iPhone (whenever that's announced).

Yup
It's either that or Galaxy S4 for top phones at the moment

If you get the white or grey one the scratches barely show up, but to me they tick all the boxes, one solid body, goes round the front of the device fully (I hate those stupid clip on thin cases, they aren't going to protect shit) and they're smooth plastic so it's not a pain to take out my pocket
plus I don't mind the scratches as i'm protecting an iPod touch with the retarded metal back that is already destroyed

As far as I can tell the only phone that doesn't do this is probably the iPhone.

I just go with good TPU cases. No wear shows up, they're basically impossible to break, etc.
Well, I did a full wipe and reinstalled CM10.1, now the screen keeps rotating to the side. Had to disable autorotate, I don't use that too much anyway.
I saw someone actively using whatever the font Samsung phones have that's borderline comic sans but curlier. Oh god it was ugly
Both my sisters use it, I cannot for the life of me get them to stop wrecking their phones.
da fuq, Carbon (the backup app) got updated and is now called Helium.
Did become lighter as well? [sp]Horrible joke...[/sp]
Did become lighter as well? [sp]Horrible joke...[/sp]
If anything it'll become extinct, according to the article posted on facepunch a few months back, that helium is running out
One of the very few things I like about my phone is how I can keep it up right on a table and record stuff without touching it at all. It's useful and every other phone wouldn't work because it's curved more than a brick. But still, that potato needs to die.

What is this black magic? I can't do that with my N4.

This is high on my "I never want to experience this" list.
I ordered my One from Newegg and it says they are awaiting stock, hopefully I won't be waiting too long.

AAAAAAAAAAAAA
Seriously, I cringe a bit when i see other S3's with big scratches and cracks. I think i nearly had a heart attack when my S3 dropped off a shelf one week after i got it (damn shelf broke, spilling books and phone to the floor)

Reminds me why phones like the Nexus 4 are so beautiful, but extremely delicate, just like a flower...
