Pretty impressive for a phone camera, especially that inside shot. Can't wait to try the Z2.

Anybody have an app that is exactly like the stock Android messaging app, or the actual stock messaging app itself
Stock LG messaging app wakes my phone up whenever I get a text

I bought a Galaxy S4 today and oh my god it's a humongous upgrade from my old Xperia X8

I tried Hangouts and it was meh. Having the sms mixed with my other Hangouts instant messaging chat is annoying and most of them if not all don't go to the same contacts conversation. So I can have someone and their sms and Hangouts chat is separated on the conversations list, hence having two of the same person conversations on the conversations list. It got really annoying so I ditched it.
I then tried sliding messenging pro but it's kind of crap, lags, has glitches and I've contacted the devs about it and they're working on some of them and never heard of some of them. Stuff like the conversation list not updating, when I get a message and I'm typing something, what I was typing goes into draft and getting back the draft content is a pain in the ass and takes forever.
Sooo i ditched that (and am thinking of getting a refund maybe but I'll have to try their other sms app) and installed Sliding SMS (CM Messaging) and I've been enjoying it so far. It's like sliding messenger pro but without the bugs, less fancy customization I never really used anyways and best of all it fucking works. Oh and it's free. It's the same sms app that's in CM.

So far so good.
day 3 of android:
Clicking apps on the play store in a browser and having them download/install on the phone when its connected is nice. 90% of the apps seem to be shite though.
The play newstand app is awesome.
I like the battery graph thing.
Phone takes ages to charge.
Drag and drop of files through usb is great.
Took ages to find a good browser that actually had a tab bar (Dolphin).
Browsers seem to have much worse content zooming/scale compared to ios.
The Camera app crashes quite often.
Overall its quite nice.

How are you liking your Nexus 5?
Stupid journal entry Day 5: so far so good, I should post those HDR comparison photos I posted on the Android thread group chat on Google Hangouts yesterday here.
Also We have 16 people in the group chat. Want in? PM me.

This is a hardware thing. My phone charges fast as fuck.

I know, wasn't trying to imply it's androids fault.
When can we finally get graphene batteries. 20 second charge would be glorious.

It will take ages because the battery on iPhones is rather small capacity wise and their chargers are normally 10W-12W by default. I presume you're using your new phone's provided adapter anways.

Selling various pieces of technology to finance a marked up Z2. If anyone wants the developer edition HTC One for Facepunch Price (tm) or a mint condition Nokia N9 for cheap just talk to me. I also have a 64 gig wifi+lte (at&t) black ipad 3 with a dead battery for almost nothing!
I really want that phone.
Let's take a look at the Nexus 5's camera. I used the latest Google Camera app that came out on the Play Store recently.

Check if you can get the device through Sony and then check if there is any student discount. Discounts vary from country to country, but in the U.S there is a 10% discount on select Sony products. When I got my laptop, it was almost 10% off the entire order, and my Z1 was 10% off, but doesn't affect extended warranty price.

Some blue discolouration in the grass there, a sign of SHIT HDR on a SHIT PHONE
I checked this phone out in a store, the back feels smooth but I feel like HTC added plastic coating on it. Maybe they did. Scrolled around the sense ui. The screen looks great. Didn't get to test out the speakers tho
It's still metal, it's just extremely slick/high grain now.

hope you're not serious
Bleh that's pretty dumb, though I'm not suggesting you to flash a new ROM because you may lose money, but how would they know? Unlike Samsung which has Knox, or did HTC also add something just like that, I don't see how your carrier would find out.
I guess do what person11 said and hold off till insurance is gone.
If you get S-OFF, you can reverse all evidence of modification.
Have a Nexus 4. Any phones out there worth upgrading to? I hate the shit battery and camera on the N4 but I love stock android
It's still metal, it's just extremely slick/high grain now.
Ah OK. Heh some of my friends thought it was a plastic back, faux metal. I think they were comparing it to the faux leather on the Samsung Galaxy note 3.
hope you're not serious
I'm not.
Hey guys. Wanna try out my new game?
It's not complicated. Just tap the orbs before they hit the bottom of the screen. If you miss, the bottom rises.

I wrote the engine from scratch, so I'm trying to track down the last few bugs on real devices. If you find one, please post here.
Thanks guys :)

I used hangouts for a bit then I found a new one called hello! which has a great tabbed interface, so fast and responsive

If anyone in Canada wants to try wind, most if not all stores have demo Sim cards for you to try their service in store only.
is it just me or are a bunch of settings missing from the new google camera app.
Fuck so the top half of my Nexus 4 won't respond to touches, now I got to fork out a few hundred bucks to fix the thing

Aren't those tabs exactly what hangouts does, they just slightly tweaked the open window and made them the same colour :v:
Aren't those tabs exactly what hangouts does, they just slightly tweaked the open window and made them the same colour :v:
I found it goes faster than hangouts and it handles tabs better, give it a go yourself
One benefit also is that the number of who you're sending text to isn't displayed, I fucking don't know why other sms apps have that, it is pointless and annoying
