okay so I'm using that imported 4.1 SMS app and the notifications don't even work, argggg
OK so heres a weird one, usb mode via kies works fine, but when I connect it to my computer without kies it just lists it as unknows device and wont work together
I got my Verizon S4 today. I tried rooting it, but it failed to install. What am I doing wrong? [editline]22nd May 2013[/editline] [t]http://i.imgur.com/UEwazpg.png[/t]
So HTC gave me 25 bucks on Google Play what do I do with it
Is the MOGA Pro any good? For only $50 I was considering buying it. I read some good reviews about it.
Is it in MTP mode?
What is MTP mode?
did you try previously and fail? because obviously it's trying to overwrite an old SU apk
did you try previously and fail? because obviously it's trying to overwrite an old SU apk
Well yeah but it was the same error.
Is the MOGA Pro any good? For only $50 I was considering buying it. I read some good reviews about it.
kinda wondering myself. everywhere I see I see glowing reviews, and with a phablet like the note 2 it could be a worthwhile investment
Got my Verizon GS4 today. Pretty nice, it does feel kind of plasticy but it is very light. Seriously I don't understand how people tolerate the iPhone's weight when stuff like this is on the market. Time to get busy rooting!
For how much larger than my iPhone my Note 2 is, I'm baffled at how light it is. I also got the Spigen Steinheil Oleophobic screen protector since the ones I got from Verizon are shit, and while I was at it I got the Spigen aluminium home buttons for the Note as well. The black looks like it'd match the case I got perfectly. That said, I kinda wish I got the white instead of titanium gray - d'ya think VZW will exchange my Note for a different color? I mean, I could complain about the hot pixel in the corner of the camera (really doesn't bother me) or something else that's dumb to get a free exchange, but could they exchange the gray for white? [editline]22nd May 2013[/editline] I will say that the plastic coating Samsung uses on the back and sides and stuff just feels gross and they should be ashamed, but when I get my full aluminium case it won't bother me.

I personally like a heftier device like the One which is 143g, makes me feel like I won't break it for some reason.
Is there any SMS app that has a popup but a non-intrusive one? Go SMS's popup is just getting irritating
popoup 7 is pretty unobtrusive.
kinda wondering myself. everywhere I see I see glowing reviews, and with a phablet like the note 2 it could be a worthwhile investment
I just bought it, I'll let you know if its any good once it arrives.
I just bought it, I'll let you know if its any good once it arrives.
cool. It'll be awhile until I can buy stuff like that again, considering tuition + my new phone about wiped me out. I hope my case and screen protector is good because that's $50 by itself...
What is MTP mode?
When you connect it it asks weather to connect in MTP mode, PTP mode, or Ethernet (sometimes called internet connection or some shit). Choose Ethernet.
got a Mophie Powerpack (something or other) PRO today at the Verizon store for 25% off (damaged packaging. literally the only problem was the peg hole on the box was ripped). Its taking forever to get the 6000mah battery charged. I was using my tablet's wall plug, and that was going fine, but I needed to plug in my tablet. It'll be great to have because I'm gonna be wifi-only for about 3 weeks. But I might not have enough outlets and adapters to keep it on a charger in the flat I'm staying in when I go to london.
Well, let's start a hangout! Add me on Google+ and I'll put you guys in an FP circle. When there's about 5-10 or so people, I'll start the group. I'll continue adding whoever wants to join too. Limit's 50, I think?
I just love how apparently I'm a fanboy for claiming that the S4 and the One are equals. Alternatively, someone that says "If the One didn't have an alu unibody, it would be worse than the S4" is totally right and isn't a fanboy.
I personally can't stand Samsungs build quality. Not like quality but materials hence why I bought the aluminium case. Feature wise TouchWiz does trump Sense but stock launchers are boring and 90% of what the s4 brings is gimmicky you ask me. Great hardware inside but software eh. At least my pen is a little useful :P
popoup 7 is pretty unobtrusive.
thanks! looks like just what I had in mind. UI's a little eh but even still

At least my pen is a little useful :P
Feature-wise I feel like Samsung is taking a scattershot approach that makes their features half-baked. I would have rather seen a secondary IR FFC for night time Smart Stay and Smart Rotation, it would have been FAR more compelling than eye/tilt scroll that is just way too much frustration to be worth it. HTC doesn't have the same number of features but they features they actually bothered to include are much more polished and useful. Also aluminum cases will destroy your reception.
I personally can't stand Samsungs build quality. Not like quality but materials hence why I bought the aluminium case.
Lol plastic is better than metal for phones because it is better at absorbing and dispersing energy caused by blunt trauma. With metal bodies, the energy transfers straight from the chassis into the screen; shattering it most of the time. Can anybody actually give a decent reason why they want to whinge about 'build quality' other than the subjective bullshit of saying 'it feels cheap'.
Also aluminum cases will destroy your reception.
Depends. If you put an external metal case on your phone you will lose tonnes of reception because metal is much less radio permeable than plastic/rubber/whatever. However, metal can either make the entire phone one huge antenna if the antenna is attached to the body and conductive. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
I used to make that same exact argument, but trust me, the S3 doesn't absorb any shock whatsoever.
Because it was designed to be super thin, not super tough. People bought it because they care about aesthetics and not functionality. The S3 is like a thin piece of glass wrapped in clingwrap.

However, metal can either make the entire phone one huge antenna if the antenna is attached to the body and conductive.
Yeah, and a metal antenna means the phone has to be designed around it like the One or it will fail miserably and destroy reception.
Because it was designed to be super thin, not super tough. People bought it because they care about aesthetics and not functionality. The S3 is like a thin piece of glass wrapped in clingwrap.
Yeah, hence the problem. These phones are literally so tightly packed that any intrusion on the edges/sides will mean that instead of just suffering a higher impulse over the whole phone, the impulse is focused on the edge of the glass. End result is the display glass shatters. People seem to think that the internals of the phone are all delicate and easy to break from shock, which just blows my mind because everything on the motherboard is basically incredibly light and the PCB is probably stronger than the external casing is. Worst case scenario is a connector is jolted out of place.
Mom mom spilled wine on her Epic 4G touch the other day, voiding the warranty. The trusty bag-o-rice saved it, though it reeks like box wine now. Being that the warranty is now void she wants me to mod it and make it fast again, but oh my goooood the XDA forum is a clusterfuck. I've never ventured far from my phone's forum which is pretty inactive, I never really knew the horrors of a flagship on XDA.
Is it possible to use hand gestures on the S3 with CM10? I don't see the motion option

Those things are tanks. I haven't actually played with an iPhone 5 yet. Wasn't able to get the current root method to work. People are literally just getting their Verizon S4s now, so I may just wait a week or two for the official root tool to come out. Enough people are struggling that it almost seems like Verizon might have used their release delay to patch out the exploit that was being used.
