this is a stupid reason to write off a phone

Seems like you can disable them and use software keys, just like on a Nexus, but I wonder if the softkeys will become completely invisible in that case, even in direct sunlight.
HOLY SHIT the red Nexus 5 is gorgeous.

have fun!

The specs are nice though. How is the camera comparing to others?
Sony Exmor 13MP sensor so might be the same one as the Xperia Z.

Although it's the same resolution, the Xperia Z camera doesn't do 4K and has a smaller aperture, f/2.4 compared to the f/2 lens in the one plus one. So it's most likely a revised Sony camera module.

Tell the chicken is said hi
Why are people getting so pissy over the OnePlus One? Looks like a damn great deal for those specs at that price and I'm definitely considering one to replace my Nexus 4 sometime in the future
Welp on my Z2 now. Gonna be weird getting used to android again. Forgot how much bloat there was on android phones!
How is the screen brightness and how are the speakers?
The Verge said it was impossible to look at the phone in daylight, and people are saying the speakers are great and terrible at the same time. People also keep complaining about the camera.
Those are pretty much my only reservations on ordering one from the UK/Taiwan.

The best thing about it is the price.
A lot of people are disappointed over the outright lies by the company and the hype machine saying this is the jesus phone.
It's just a good phone for really cheap.

Seems like it then, didn't really dig more into it, but some samples have been released. Though since the consumer version isn't out, I'd take these with a grain of salt.
I really want Google to keep on pushing Google wallet into Canada and have those tap to pay with your phone using nfc. I rarely see any places with it in Canada aside from Starbucks.
In the last couple months I've noticed a bunch of stores switching to the new terminals with tap to pay. I've been using it a bunch with my debit card recently. Even the shitty little campus corner store has it now.
People also keep complaining about the camera.
In the past year or so I noticed that there's hundreds of people who will complain about ANY camera/speakers/battery in ANY phone.
Installed the latest CM nightly on my GS2, factory reset and a storage format but the google camera/stock camera/snapchat apps like to crash very often. I suppose it's not meant to be.
Sounds like it's the "faulty nightly build" time at CyanogenMod again :v:
Been getting it for a few months now through various versions of CM.
decided to play around with Xposed today. not sure why I didn't do this earlier since I'm loving it. running 4.1 here

should keep me occupied until ASUS decides to finally push the 4.4 update

I assume it's PayPass. There's a web page for searching local places that support it.

So do I have to get a Mastercard and connect my phone to it, install their app for it to work?

google wallet uses paypass technologies
if the terminal has the wavy lines, you can wave your phone against it.
the way it works is google charges your card from google, and they give the money to merchant, you don't need a mastercard
so money goes
card>google>payment processor>merchant
gotten into a little mess with my phone. installed TWRP with a locked bootloader (was sure it was unlocked) which gave me invalid kernel on bootup. started up adb and booted it with a custom kernel I found for my phone. downloaded and installed the official unlock bootloader tool from ASUS, but the tool doesn't work on phones which had their mobo's replaced. as far as I know, there is no unofficial unlock tool either, soooo I need to get rid of the custom recovery for now as I have to boot the phone with adb everytime it's restarted now. don't think ASUS provides the stock recovery image either so no clue how I'd go about to flash only the recovery back
using a Padfone 2
it's not that big of an issue, but would really suck if my phone for some reason shut down or rebooted while travelling

Apparently it doesn't work in Canada with Google Wallet, you would have to sign up for a Mastercard and get the Mastercard PayPass thing set up and use Mastercard's app.
It greatly annoys me that I can download a file from the opposite side of the world faster than I can transfer a file onto my phone.

Is it normal that it struggles to get over 2MB/s write? USB2.0 supports something like 60MB/s.
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
Seems like I get much faster transfer speeds when connected as a media device (MTP) as opposed to mass storage (UMS). But MTP always shits out on me after a minute or so and the whole directory stops responding in windows. I have to disconnect and then re-connect.
UMS is slow and steady
slow and steady wins the race

I made the mistake of trying to transfer 50 gigs of music to my Optimus G a year ago, and it crapped out right before the end.
Ever since them, my microsd card would unmount itself every 5 minutes from the phone, rendering it unable to do any kind of media playback until I figured out how to force close the media scanner app.
My only real reservation about the Z2 is that I would have to deal with microsd cards again.
Please tell me sd card implementation on Android is no longer a shit show. If Kitkat somehow fixed card mounting, I would gladly accept the new restrictions it places on apps.
[editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
I guess I could take the card out and put it in the sd card slot in my computer, but the adapter always seemed to almost scratch the gold of the card
I got the 32gb for $450 off Google play, just using a $30/month BYO Telstra plan
Shithouse data limits but it's enough for me
The price was only for the 16gb model, in black only.
I went with boost, no 4G, but $40 for unlimited call/sms + 2gb of data for 30 days
So, once there was a man who tried to point what is wrong with XDA dev threads:
http://prntscr.com/3d5cpq
http://prntscr.com/3d5olq

That man gave up.
Im glad i bought a new device.

GravityBox
XposedGELSettings
XuiMod
YouTube Adaway
Xprivacy
Those are the main modules I would recommend for Xposed

I know this method is annoying but taking the microsd card out and putting it into a card reader does wonders. Until the speeds are the same...

How do you do that transparency?
How do you do that transparency?
Are you talking about the status bar? That's part of the Kitkat launcher.
he's on 4.1 but
GravityBox (an Xposed module) can do the status bar transparency in 4.1 as long as you're rooted.
