GravityBox (an Xposed module) can do the status bar transparency in 4.1 as long as you're rooted.
does it have to be 4.1+?
The Jellybean version works fine on 4.1.
I know this method is annoying but taking the microsd card out and putting it into a card reader does wonders. Until the speeds are the same...
I invested in a high quality USB 3.0 card reader just now. The other adapters are too flimsy for my tastes.
How to brick an Asus tablet:
Let the battery run dead
Attempt to turn it on
Accidentally hold power up while doing so
It will vibrate once then stop accepting input
Quality fucking QA Asus you pieces of shit, all I wanted to do was install Cerberus
[editline]25th April 2014[/editline]
And then right as I grab some tools to pull it open and disconnect the power, it decides to work
I've never seen a device that break in more retarded ways than this tablet
My mom bought a TF101 a couple years ago, it's the biggest piece of shit
How do you do that transparency?
gravity box! pretty cool module, just wish that quick settings was available for 4.1

Had one, wanted to use it for school work. 2 months in, broke as fuck.
Hovering my finger around the power button immediately trigger the 'shutdown prompt' I don't know how the fuck it grew a touch sensor.

The USB 2.0 card reader I have seems to have a broken micro sd card slot. Gotta try it again.
Lol so you have to smash your phone to get the Oneplus One
Upstart OnePlus is giving away 100 of its new "One" smartphones — which came out from under wraps this week — for those willing to smash a current high-end smartphone.
This is a bad idea. You should not do it. Please do not smash your phone — especially not yet.
So here's the deal. You'll initially be registering for a chance to smash your phone. If you've already smashed it, you're SOL. Sorry, Charlie. OnePlus will randomly pick 100 folks to smash phones on camera. In exchange they'll get a free 16GB One, plus three invites to purchase more.
There are a couple more catches:
First, you have to be in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kon SAR China, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, United Kingdom or the United States. Don't live there? You're SOL.
Next, you'll have to have one of the applicable phones. They include the iPhone 5, 5c and 5s, BlackBerry Z10, or Z30; HTC One M8, One M7 and One Max, LG G Flex, G2, G Pro 2 or Nexus 5, Motorola Moto X, Nokia Lumia 1020, 1520, 920 or 925; a Samsung Galaxy Note 2 or Note 3; or a Galaxy S3, S4 or S5; or a Sony Xperia Z, Z2, Z Ultra, Z1. Already smash a perfectly good something else? You're SOL.
i switched my phone (xperia t) from cyanogenmod to omnirom yesterday. after a long struggle to get /sdcard/ working properly, id actually highly recommend omnirom. its missing some features from cm but it runs waaaay better and the battery lasts for more than 5 hours (plus you can get the missing features with xposed modules anyways). im also no longer getting bsod issues.
totally recommended. definitely worth a look.
I also switched from Cyanogenmod to Omnirom and my favorite feature is being able to rely on my phone to not freeze when it enters deep sleep.

updated my recovery and it wiped my entire system folder. cooooooooooollllllllll
Is it still normal in android that if you hold down the power button while you're booting the device that it will do a factory reset? I did that on an old nook tablet and it deleted all my data a few years ago

wait what it did that to you too? thats what sent me over the limit yesterday. it was hilarious because if i called it from another one it would ring fine but the screen would still not turn on. then i held down the camera button and my music started playing. it wasn't really in deep sleep, not sure what was going on here.

If you hold the power button when the device is actually off (as in not running), it should boot the device up. If the device is on (as in it's running), if you hold it long enough it will do a hard shutdown which is often used when something goes wrong. Your device shouldn't or usually does not factory reset by simply holding the power button.

I'm sort of surprised that the SD card reader on my 8 year old laptop will achieve the full speed used by UHS-1 cards. It will easily copy and write data across at ~30 MB/s. I suppose its simply limited to the hardware on the actual card rather than the reader itself?
wait what it did that to you too? thats what sent me over the limit yesterday. it was hilarious because if i called it from another one it would ring fine but the screen would still not turn on. then i held down the camera button and my music started playing. it wasn't really in deep sleep, not sure what was going on here.
I just thought it was a problem with my S3, everywhere I asked said it was most likely a hardware problem. Now I feel like a moron.
I don't really know which ROM is the king these days in the majority's eyes. Is PA still worth looking at, and what features does it include these days besides Pie controls.

Well, last time i checked, the PA UI and stuff wasnt there yet.
So i guess its just an AOSP rom for now.
Im using CM11 because PACRom gave me lots of issues and PA didnt have too much features.
I've been using SlimKat. Its been pretty stable and solid. Its pretty quick too, for a Galaxy Nexus at least.

I get that speed on my USB 2.0 reader, the bottleneck isn't the card, it's the card reader. It seems like your card reader in your laptop can peak at realistic USB 2.0 speeds.

I suppose that would make sense. Though, it looks like its implemented over PCI (I think, Arch just lists it as being on bus 4). I suppose that's not a big deal, but it looks like its part of the same device that controls the Cardbus and Firewire functions (Texas Instruments PCIxx12 is what its labeled as). That's sort of barely interesting.

Yep. My music would still play and all that, but if you hit the power button, the soft keys would turn on and... that's it. Screen wouldn't turn on. I'd often have to wait a minute or so. I thought it was my new live wallpaper chewing up the CPU, but nope.
p.s. this live wallpaper owns.

This would happen to my 2012 Nexus 7 a lot. Ever since the Kitkat update, it doesn't do it anymore. Bizarre.

I have that too! Except I get screen freezes while using it (particularly if I drag down the notification bar), then have to turn off my screen for a few minutes and hope it turns back on, I think it's among other things UI crashes. Also my bluetooth crashes and burns when that happens as well.
I just tried copying crap from my Nexus 5 onto computer connected as a media device and I was able to copy over 5.8GB in 3 minutes and 20 seconds.
3 minutes and 20 seconds equals to 200 seconds
5.8GB/200=0.029GB/s*1024(to convert from GB/s to MB/s)= 29.696MB/s which is pretty much the realistic peak of which USB 2.0 transfers stuff.
That's pretty fast for offloading stuff considering my Patriot class 10 32GB microSDHC card can only do 15MB/s read.
Good idea to point out that it's much faster NAND flash storage that's being used.
I haven't tried writing stuff but I'd imagine it's painfully slow if everyone is complaining about it

no matter how much i waited (i waited for 20 minutes) it never came back. the only thing it did was reboot randomly after a while.
i love this wallpaper! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cyphercove.audioglow

ive been experiencing this for the past few days with cm11 (not anymore because omnirom) -- my entire systemui would freeze. no more softkeys or notification bar, and indeed i had to turn off my screen and hope itd turn back on or just wait for systemui to crash -- if ever. so its apparently a very common issue? kinda surprised.
Sword art online launcher, my phone is complete.

Huh, it's all in English and can be called up anywhere by swiping down from the top corners. It's sort of like HALO I guess but a launcher instead of notifications.
