Is it possible to use hand gestures on the S3 with CM10? I don't see the motion option
Not that I know of. CM10 is supposed to be an improved and more powerful version of stock Android 4.1.2. Hand gestures and the likes were added by Samsung in TouchWiz. It is unlikely you will find it in CM10
When you connect it it asks weather to connect in MTP mode, PTP mode, or Ethernet (sometimes called internet connection or some shit). Choose Ethernet.
The only two options are MTP and PTP. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
There are two iPhone 4s in my family, that's what I was thinking of. Those things are tanks. I haven't actually played with an iPhone 5 yet. Wasn't able to get the current root method to work. People are literally just getting their Verizon S4s now, so I may just wait a week or two for the official root tool to come out. Enough people are struggling that it almost seems like Verizon might have used their release delay to patch out the exploit that was being used.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/05/22/how-to-root-the-verizon-galaxy-s4-with-no-device-wipe-necessary/ I'm trying this right now. They have the pre-release kernel as well as the stock kernel. Sounds like it will work if you load the pre-release kernel. I'm just going to use the pre-release kernel until then and see if anything bad happens.
Lol plastic is better than metal for phones because it is better at absorbing and dispersing energy caused by blunt trauma. With metal bodies, the energy transfers straight from the chassis into the screen; shattering it most of the time. Can anybody actually give a decent reason why they want to whinge about 'build quality' other than the subjective bullshit of saying 'it feels cheap'.
Maybe, but does anyone like the cheap greasy feel of Samsung plastic? I certainly don't and it's one of those things that literally every review points out. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] I mean the phones are still great, don't get me wrong. Samsung is a heavy hitter for good reason
I thought there was an engineer who pointed out that if you have 2 layers, the outside should be soft and the inside hard, but if you have 1layer, it should be harder. He likened it to an egg. Protected by a single hard layer. Also fuck Samsung's edge to edge glass. Good luck not cracking that.
edge to edge glass
One of the reasons why all recent phones now are super weak
I asked the developer of Smart Launcher to consider making the clock a widget so I can have clock style uniformity via Widget Locker, and he actually replied :3 He said no. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
One of the reasons why all recent phones now are super weak
That and as soon as gorilla glass has so much as a scratch, it's obnoxiously more breakable. Screen protectors are a must for any gorilla glass phone IMO
So I want to change my phone. I don't know anything, but i want to keep android. I currently have a HTC desire S, which I like, but it's getting really slow and old. And the battery don't last a day even without using internet. And it's heating like hell. From what I heard, the galaxy 4 and HTC One are what the cool kids use now, any differences regarding the battery life and reactivity, and overall resistance of the case/screen? Design wise i think i prefer the HTC one mostly because it actually have more than 1 button (i can't get used to my friends iphones), but there might be some other phones i don't know about.
the GS4 actually has more buttons, it just has a physical home button in addition to the capacitive button GS4 has bigger battery but a lot of gimmicky style features, slightly better and slightly larger screen. the One has the best materials by far though and feels great in the hand and Sense 5 is less obnoxious than Sense 4/4+ [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] they both have exactly the same internals unless you get the international GS4 which has a slightly worse octocore solution, so performance is down to the launcher in both.

In that case HTC one will be my choice i think.
Yeah. Biggest complaints I've seen on the One front is the offset home button, but as long as your unit works out of the box you should be a happy camper. The .2GHz slower clock speed compared to the GS4 is nigh unnoticeable, and depending on your camera usage the camera could be better.
Got to test out the One for the first time today, slightly disappointed by the metal feel of it, but still miles ahead of the S4.
What do you think about Huawei Ascend Y300? Is it a real improvement over my ZTE Blade 1? I personally like its design, but I just want to know if there's a good reason to avoid the phone.
I'm getting a Ascend G510, and a budget phone with jellybean isn't seen everyday, so I think you can trust huawei.
I should finally be getting my sp tomorrow, if not I am going to be fucking angry
That and as soon as gorilla glass has so much as a scratch, it's obnoxiously more breakable. I highly recommend not putting on a screen protector as it makes your screen look and feel shit and does jack all to protect against smashing.
Gorilla glass almost never scratches. I highly recommend not putting on a screen protector as it makes your screen look and feel shit and does jack all to protect against smashing.
All it takes is one grain of sand and your screen is toast. A screen protector is a worthwhile investment (and I highly recommend you stop buying shitty ones.) [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] And as usual the best way to not smash your phone is to not drop it.
I finally got an full Cyanbread style on my custom Gingerbread launcher: Probably the best feature on it: Landscape setting. Theres also the 3D Drawer, but that doesnt work in my device.
Finally got 4.2.2 running on my galaxy S with root, happiest day of the month

If you hate the new opera and liked the old one better you can download it from here: ftp://ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/android/mobile/
Gorilla glass almost never scratches.
They're also really annoying to put on without getting those bubbles on there, and being the perfectionist I am I cannot stand having even one bubble on my screen.
Screen protectors have gotten better recently. The good ones come with an application fluid that allows perfect placement and removes all dust bubbles. Which is good, because the water bubbles go away in a few days. I saw one one time that came with a plastic chassis that holds the phone in place while it slides the screen protector on.
Guys I bought an S4 please forgive me.
[editline]23rd May 2013[/editline] What's going on with that color temperature?
It wast like that on the cellphone. Well, i will fix that... Picture on the post fixed.

I saw one one time that came with a plastic chassis that holds the phone in place while it slides the screen protector on.
The one foolproof thing you can do with any protector is tape it to the device - like a hinge - before you take any adhesive backings off. This allows you to align it perfectly beforehand and all you have to do is peel off the backing, set, and peel off the front which takes the tape with it. Quality protectors come with dust removing stickers that do... well, exactly that. My house is far from a dust-free environment and my current shitty screen protector is completely dust-free.
MY GODDD I'm gonna rip my hair out soon if my Padfone 2 doesn't come back from repairs soon. I have no idea how long it has been there. Two months? Hell, I haven't even received word that my warranty is void due to rooting or if they haven't even discovered that it has been rooted. If they charge me for rooting it I'll find their house and burn it down. Wasn't even my fault it broke. :suicide:
New Chrome beta release adds full screen to tablets, page translation and a new tab icon next to the address bar. Exciting stuff.
waiting for S3 screen replacement In Transit-Arrival at Post Office May-23-13, 10:27 AM what does that mean eBay? what does that mean? is it gonna go out for delivery tomorrow??? edit: WHICH post office?? you told me where it was shipped from (West Chicago) but not where it is right now
Gorilla glass almost never scratches. I highly recommend not putting on a screen protector as it makes your screen look and feel shit and does jack all to protect against smashing.
Go get a glass screen protector if you're worried about shattering gorilla glass. [editline]23rd May 2013[/editline]
Got to test out the One for the first time today, slightly disappointed by the metal feel of it, but still miles ahead of the S4.
It's raw metal unlike the older phones like the Desire HD that have this hard anodization that really had a great feel to it.
They're also really annoying to put on without getting those bubbles on there, and being the perfectionist I am I cannot stand having even one bubble on my screen.
Only if you get a shitty one. Get a decent, branded one and it will apply perfectly. Or if you want to splash a bit more cash get a tempered glass one.
