I've read some accounts of it but all the big review sites don't seem to mention it. I wonder if they'd accept a return if I bought one and it buzzed.
i've got one and i don't hear any buzzing
So I got a call from the Telenor store where I handed in my phone today, they wanted $400 to fix the screen on my Nexus 5. So my mum and I decided that it'd be better if we just bought a new one, so it looks like I'll be getting a white Nexus 5 sometime next week! I've still gotta pay $55 for them to ship it back to me, though (diagnosis fee, and shipping)
That is fucking ridiculous. I've replaced my phone's display assembly, display, digitizer, button circuit, and vibration motor for only 55 dollars. Right now I'm using it and it works very good.
I'm looking at getting the Nexus 5. I'm just not sure on colors just yet. I've seen people saying that the white and red models both feel quite plastic/cheap? How about the cases on the Play Store? Just one of the bumper cases seems fine, but I am curious about the QuickCovers.

The quickcover feels very high quality and durable, I've dropped the phone so many times by accident and this case has saved it every time. It's also great that when you close the cover on it the screen turns off (and vise versa when you open it but I have no idea if other flip covers do this adwell) Which is great to save battery if you forgot to lock phone and have long auto turn off screen time. Tldr quick cover is great

I'm quite sure it's universal amongst these kinds of covers to turn the screen off and on, considering I own the Nexus 7 with a case that has the same feature. Hint: It's a magnet that does it all. What's the texture of the phone like? The back. Smooth plastic, a bit of a grain to it? Something else?
The black is a sort of smooth, rubbery coating. I think the white and red is just a smooth plastic
The black is a sort of smooth, rubbery coating. I think the white and red is just a smooth plastic
I think I know what you mean, yeah. I'm watching some reviews right now. [editline]16th May 2014[/editline] I'm actually liking the red, as bright and obnoxious it might be.

I just put my order in. 32GB in Red with the White QuickCover.
Iirc it's a sensor on the nexus 5 that turns off the screen because if I turn the phone to a black surface it will turn off the screen
No. My Nexus 5 and Macbook have always try to turn each other off. It's definitely a magnet sensor.
No. My Nexus 5 and Macbook have always try to turn each other off. It's definitely a magnet sensor.
Weird, because if I put it near a black surface (like holding it near my jacket) it will turn off.
Anyone else having the problem that Hangouts eats your battery life?
YES. It's so fucking bad that... Worst part is that I need to have it running
Keep the broken one around, save up (if possible), get a screen replacement yourself, fix it yourself (youtube provides good guides on this). bam, two strong independent Nexii. NFC tap them for maximum victory.
nexuses
Hello Android experts, I have a Nexus 4, running 4.4.2. When I use the music player, it tends to play music really well (weird, that) but it also seems to make my phone do some odd stuff. For example, sometimes I'll be playing a song with my phone screen locked, then when the lock screen re-appears, the music player lock screen widget is gone!! And it isn't even replaced with the standard clock widget there! Normal:

Semi-buggered:

Buggered:

Then sometimes, I'll press the unlock button on my phone, and nothing will happen. I do it again, then the screen turns on and momentarily shows me what I was doing on my phone before I locked it! Then it will freak out and show the unlock screen again. For unlocking, I use the face recognition and the draw pattern combo. I was just wondering if this is a known bug or something, because I've had it since 4.4 Thanks!
I'm actually liking the red, as bright and obnoxious it might be.
Red leade-err I mean red 32GB reporting in. I regret nothing, the color is amazing. Kaabii you traitor :(
nexuses
but that just sounds so boring and not sexii 😵 [editline]16th May 2014[/editline]
you mean eye bleeding
get out of my automerge with your lack of quality eyes.

Your eyes had no quality in the first place when you bought a white Nexus 5 only to cover it in a shitty black dollar case :v:
The sheer red of the nexus 5 broke my glasses and further damaged by eye sight. And I use my nexus 5 naked
Kinky. Even outside?

I recommend poweramp if you aren't already using it, it's the best music app I've ever used.
Kinky. Even outside?
I use protection outside. Just in case.

Just picked up an Optimus G Pro for 230 bucks and loaded it up with CyanogenMod, it is nice. It doesn't recognize my microSIM card for whatever reason, though.
So stick with TouchWiz on my phone, or switch to another 4.4 AOSP ROM - maybe Paranoid Android this time? The only issue I have with AOSP ROMs is that I get a bug where my camera "dies" (any app that uses the camera says it can't connect to the camera).

I've found if I lock my phone or let it lock itself while snapchat is open, the camera stops responding until I reboot [editline]17th May 2014[/editline] Funnily this is the only app that does it, I'm not sure how they're doing it
