t-mobile charge premium rates for ringing your own voicemail.
Don't miss being with them at all.
On Rogers calling your voicemail from out of town used to count as a long distance phone call.
It's only in the last year or so they've switched to nationwide plans that don't have domestic long distance charges.
Rogers One Number is kinda cool. I can now turn my old potato into a phone to call any Canadian number nationwide. That's pretty sweet.
why won't my S5 completely uninstall apps? i just installed GTA:SA, then decided to uninstall it to save space till I get my SD card. when i uninstalled it instead of having 2.3gb's of space freed, it only freed about 50mb's. also happened with the battlefield 4 commander app. uninstalled it, instead of removing 800mb's of shit, it only removed 40.

Maybe because you're just removing the apk, and not the data files the game downloaded. They should be in the /data/ folder on your SD card

They're not entirely accurate though, since if you remove a conversation from the list in whatsapp, the stats, whatstat loses the stats for them.
Whatsapp stats since march 3rd:

I never use it since my plan is unlimited nationwide anyway, but I can see the ability to call over wifi being useful.
Anyone know of a decent numpad keyboard?
SwiftKey has one, but it's for Japanese (of course)

I wonder how many times I've found my phone on my desk because it was under some paper because I told Google's servers to ring my phone.
Sure, let me also get a Saskatchewan address with it too.
I need assistance from the cell phone gods plz
so i live in the states, however my future is unclear - in august i'm moving to the netherlands to work for 6 months, and i'm not sure where i'll go from there. because of this i've decided it's finally time to get a smartphone (i've been rocking this sexy beast for a couple years now) given my utter and complete ineptitude in regards to geographical navigation. if i get lost in the hague on my way to work it's gonna be a real bummer. so i need a smart phone that will work there to get me where I need to go. as such lordcrypto pointed me to the moto g a couple weeks ago, and when I started reading about it, it became pretty attractive. price point, nice and simple phone, good battery life, all that. then i saw that the 4G LTE edition would be coming out this june likely, so I decided to wait. MOTO is taking preorders now, but I've seen that the 4G LTE edition doesn't have a global GSM, only a US GSM.
i've been trying to figure out what that means but haven't really been able to get a clear answer.
the specs of the phone list the usable bands as
US GSM Model:
4G LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 17 (1900, 1700, 850, 700 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS (850, 900, 1700, 1900, 2100 MHz)
which according to this website should work in the netherlands (i think???) - but then the question is what exactly the difference between the global and us GSM version even is.
the 3g edition of the MOTO G lists them as
US GSM Model:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 1700 (AWS), 1900 MHz)
Global GSM Model:
GSM/GPRS/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)
UMTS/HSPA+ up to 21 Mbps (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz)
Requires a microSIM card (not included)
But from this point of view it looks like the 4g US GSM includes all of the same bands that the 3g global one does.
and then the other point of confusion: while not offered on the motorola website itself, the amazon page for the moto g includes the "universal 4g lte" option. however I got in contact with motorola and they said (which granted could be BS) that they have no record of having a global version of the Moto G 4GLTE.
so basically am I SAFE to either a.) purchase the US GSM version of this phone, or b.) should I purchase the "universal 4g lte" being vendored by motorola on amazon, and will it work across the world??
i'm just having issues because reading various forums across the net i'm seeing things stating that you'll only get access to 2g speeds on some networks, which is not good lol
The universal 4G LTE version is your safest bet.
The one thing you really have to look out for is CDMA/GSM and that's not your problem here.
well if i'm in the states i've been using AT&T forever and while i don't have any brand loyalty the fact that sprint/verizon use CDMA which isn't used by the rest of the world means i probably won't be using them. also apparently tmobile has a strong presence in the netherlands so i guess i'll look into that too
[editline]24th May 2014[/editline]
i have little money so i'm mainly just looking now (after figuring out what phone to buy) at getting a small prepaid plan that has good data. i don't make too many calls, and most correspondence is done over the computer now anyway for me

Hey I live there! Do you know whereabouts you'll be living? Also you should visit us in the Dutch chat thread some time.
Oh yeah, speaking of mobile plans: I'm gonna be in the US for a month soon, so I wanna know if there's any way for me to purchase a prepaid sim card that has like 1 or 2GB of data on it. And some texts/voice. Do US carriers do that? I've looked around but I saw talks of "activating your mobile on this network" and such so...

T-Mobile does, all their plans are no contract so you can just walk into any T-Mobile store and get a plan. They have plans for just data if you don't want talk/text.

can you just get unlimited data w/o calls
https://www.blackwireless.com/default.aspx
woah
I've never heard of these guys
is that $60 unlimited data plan actually unlimited or is it like 5GB at 'high-speed' and then throttles you to shit like everything else
can you just get unlimited data w/o calls
You can get LTE tablet plans, they don't come in Unlimited though. They also offer free/discounted tablet plans if you already have a phone plan, you can get 200mb of LTE for every phone I think. So you could really have 5 phones and 5 tablets on a family plan, I think.
http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-plans/mobile-internet.html#tab-navigation
http://www.t-mobile.com/simple-choice-international-plans.html
IMO, T-Mobile really has the best plans out there currently. The only major downside to them is their service which outside of somewhat significant cities is generally non-existent or very limited. If you're within their LTE network 90% of the time like 90% of the country pretty much is, you should really consider them.
[editline]24th May 2014[/editline]
I've also heard of Republic Wireless, they seemed to have some really interesting plans based off of Sprint. For $5 a month you can buy a phone which has unlimited talk and text through your Wifi. For $10 you can get a plan which has unlimited talk and text through wifi and Sprint.
https://republicwireless.com/
I've honestly thought about just grabbing one of these just so I have a phone which gets service out of town. Only downside is AFAIK you have to buy their Moto G or Moto X from them, but they are properly priced.
Does anyone know if I can add any apps in this screen, other than those which the phone has by default?

I do it with Xposed and Gravitybox, lets you have 5 different apps in it
Not sure if there's any other way
So, does anyone have any information on the 4.4.3 update? I don't think I can take data drops and not receiving SMS messages much longer

That's a 4.4.2 issue? Didn't know that, could explain why I don't get some text.

Shit, that reminds me of my T-mobile Pulse. It used to automatically kill the SMS app when it ran out of memory (which was all the time). Texts wouldn't get through whenever it happened. Wouldn't even appear after the app was running again, literally lost in the ether.
