The LG G3 will have a removable battery iirc
I'm getting a Nexus 7 soon. Is dual boot Android/Linux possible?
The LG G3 will have a removable battery iirc
And mSD card slot. It looks to be a decent improvement over the G2 despite not being a huge overhaul in specs.
I would recommend either of those except for the S4. Nexus 5 is cheaper but the battery is non-removable (I think?) and there is no SD card slot
Why not the S4?
Wait for the G3. It'll be here in a month or so and it beats the living hell out of the S5. It's a overall improvement over the G2 in aesthetics and software while bringing it inline the the mildly better flagship phones. It also has the crazy insane 1440p 5.5" screen while not being about the same size as a old Note 2 or something. It's also going to support wireless charging with a replacement backing. If you're getting it on a contract from your carrier, the G3 is going to be your absolute best choice. Otherwise look for a G2 on swappa or a new Nexus 5. [editline]6th June 2014[/editline]
Why not the S4?
S4 is out of date compared to all of those and not really even better than a Moto X. Moto X isn't a bad choice if you're looking for a smaller phone, although the Nexus 5 is more bang for your buck.

The Nexus 5 looks pretty damn nice so I think that's what I'll get after some more research. Thanks, guys.
damn my s5 is getting a bunch of scratches on the lens from nothing at all. i only have my earbuds in the same pocket as my phone, and i always have the earbuds on the bottom and phone on top. reaaaaly weird.
well shit the pa update doesn't work apparently, something wrong in the update script it says oh well
Nexus 5 is cheaper but the battery is non-removable (I think?) and there is no SD card slot
The battery isn't supposed to be removed, but it's easier than most phones. You just pop the back cover off with a tool, then lift the battery out.
I would recommend either of those except for the S4. Nexus 5 is cheaper but the battery is non-removable (I think?) and there is no SD card slot
Apparently it is removable, there even are batteries for the Nexus 5 on eBay. You just have to undo the clips that secure the back cover, same like you have to unclip the second cover on most Samsung phones. [editline]7th June 2014[/editline] Shit, ninja'd
well shit the pa update doesn't work apparently, something wrong in the update script it says oh well
Huh, it worked just fine on mine, did the MD5 match?
well shit the pa update doesn't work apparently, something wrong in the update script it says oh well
wait, so there's "something wrong".. shit thats a critical error, i think youll have to rma your phone. (post a screenshot of the goddamn error)
Huh, it worked just fine on mine, did the MD5 match?
yes
wait, so there's "something wrong".. shit thats a critical error, i think youll have to rma your phone. (post a screenshot of the goddamn error)
it's gotta download again, shitty slow server it said it dumped a log on the memory card but i couldn't find it
if you're using cwm it's probably in /sdcard/clockworkmod
if you're using cwm it's probably in /sdcard/clockworkmod
that folder is empty oh nice, download failed at 90% [editline]7th June 2014[/editline] now i get the same md5 mismatch every time
So I finally got off my anxious ass and rooted my S4. It's rooted, hooray! (After I rooted it, after a reboot it complained that the firmware wasn't updated correctly and to do it through Kies or whatever, but it's rooted so idgaf) Only complaints I have now is that the clock sometimes changes randomly to another time/date and sets off the calendar notifications I have all at once. Maybe that's an app in the background doing that, not sure. Is it really a huge benefit to go to something like Cyanogen Mod over ShitWiz?
that folder is empty oh nice, download failed at 90% [editline]7th June 2014[/editline] now i get the same md5 mismatch every time
You could try downloading it from the PA site instead. Or just wait, since the newest update still isn't 4.4.3. and the new features aren't really that useful other than for changing the UI design.
Is it really a huge benefit to go to something like Cyanogen Mod over ShitWiz?
To be honest there is no gigantic benefit moving to CM over TouchWiz other than the knowledge that Samsung are not discretely inserting anything into your butthole. However, I am currently using a ROM called Project Chaos for the i9505 and it is actually really good, I recommend you check it out.

Thanks, guys.
Look at used LG G2's too, it's basically a all around better Nexus 5 with a humongous battery. Don't let the non-removable battery scare you off, it's just a "service" when you change it possibly after 2 years or so. It takes about 30 minutes, all you have to do on both is remove the "phone from around the battery since the G2 design is a screen with a battery on the back with a phone built around it. The only difficult part is unplugging stuff and popping the battery off the front casing with any flat tool. Only real downsides are the lack of easily removable battery and sdcard capability which with a 32gb version I haven't seen either be needed in the last 9 months. Although the LG G2's software is somewhat of a downside to it also, if you want a phone that you won't have to touch period then just get the Nexus 5.
Welp, time to root my Nexus 5
I can't re-root my Nexus 5 after updating to 4.4.3 Everything seems to work fine but I don't have that Super somethingorother program installed and can't do anything that needs root access

My Nexus 5 died on me, or some shit. Can't get a signal anymore. Had to call tech support for T-mobile, and they think my device is broke, so they are sending me a new one overnight. Which tomorrow being Sunday will be here Tuesday.
Strange, mine has been dropping signal like crazy today.
Rooted and then flashed PA
Well T-Mobile did have pretty big outage yesterday. http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/06/06/its-not-you-t-mobile-is-struggleing-to-come-back-from-a-nationwide-outage/
Speaking of outages, Google drive had an outage on Wednesday
So I finally got off my anxious ass and rooted my S4. It's rooted, hooray! I stick with TouchWiz and just freeze/remove most of the preinstalled Samsung apps.
I already knew that some moderators were secretly fascists, but I never excepted one to proudly come out and proclaim his love for TouchWiz.
