When did Swiftkey update and add a whole load of new themes? Cause some of the new themes look great, even if they do look like they belong on iOS.

Apparently today.
Hello everyone,
Today, we're very excited to bring you a major update to SwiftKey Keyboard in the Google Play store, which includes many new features that are a direct result of your feedback. To mark the occasion we're giving you a gift!
Consistently, our #1 user request is for a wider range of themes, the colors and designs that enable you to personalize your SwiftKey experience. With today's announcement, we're happy to bring you dozens of new free and premium themes, which can be accessed in the brand new SwiftKey Store. This is a great way for us to invest in quality design and let everyone get the most choice with their SwiftKey experience. In today's update there are now 48 themes in SwiftKey Keyboard, and more are coming soon.
To say thanks for your support as a paid SwiftKey user, we're giving you a 'Premier Pack' of 10 new premium themes worth $4.99 for free! Instructions on how to get these themes can be found here.
Additional new features in SwiftKey Keyboard v5 include:
Support for over 800 emoji, plus a new emoji prediction feature
Optional number row
Enhanced Flow accuracy
Improved prediction engine
More languages
...and much more
To get this new version of SwiftKey, head to Google Play and update for free.
Also, from today, SwiftKey Keyboard will be completely free to download on Google Play! We want to take a moment to give you a bit more information and explain some of the thinking behind this exciting change.
We've come an incredibly long way these past six years, from two university friends with an ambitious idea, to becoming the global best-selling app on Google Play the past two years running. We founded SwiftKey to make it easier for everyone to create and communicate on their mobile devices, and as a company we're working hard to reach that goal.
This is why today we are making SwiftKey free. We believe this change is the best way to achieve our global vision for SwiftKey, as we can now reach many more people around the world without price as a barrier. That said, we want to reassure you that the SwiftKey features you have come to know and love will remain yours.
As a final note, we'll be running a Reddit AMA to discuss the new SwiftKey Keyboard (and anything else you might want to bring up) in the near future. We'll announce specific time and date details in the days ahead, and really hope you'll take part.
Thank you, again, for your continued support,
Jon Reynolds & Ben Medlock
SwiftKey co-founders
I'm okay with this change, the paid-free themes are pretty cool
Does it have an AOSP theme?

Do the typical backing up before flashing
I'm on the free 1GB tier, and my usage actually just reset, but I'm probably gonna grab the 3GB plan next month. Although, I have been tempted to grab the unlimited plan for $20 more, and just see how much data I can suck down.
Honestly, unless you watch a lot of videos or tether on mobile data I wouldn't go for the unlimited. Since I've had T-Mobile since 2010 and had 2GB on their HSPA network up until I got my LG G2 in which they put me on their Unlimited plan about a month before it rolled out publicly. I usually rolled over my 2GB around the end of the billing period so I'd say that 3GB is about the sweet spot for most people.
I generally use at the very least 30gb a month now so I don't think a lesser plan or any other carrier would cut it for me :v:
Cool, my gal tab 3 just updated to kitkat.
Nexus 5 arrives today, giving my N4 to my mother. Extremely excited! Anyone have any advice to completely factory reset my phone to the point where all files are deleted and it runs just like stock new? I don't think she'll mind if the bootloader/phone is rooted, she just wants stability.

Running flash-all.bat will put it back to stock completely and erase everything.

Thanks. Any suggestions for N5 ROM, or should I just keep it stock? I was running Parandroid on N4, but I haven't been keeping up on what's good for the N5.
look into Paranoid Android or OmniROM for the N5.
PA just entered Release Candidate stage today, basically the first stable release.

Apparently you don't have to flash the bootloader and radios, etc.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=53331703&postcount=13
So I did just that and LTE, WiFi, etc. works fine.

lol PA
It's probably just gapps fault, reflashing thag
i like the new G3 keyboard.
i have an apk of it before my n5 died, and it was nice..
I just flashed the older version of gapps. It's probably not even required to flash the latest gapps every time.
It's probably not even required to flash the latest gapps every time.
Yeah, it's only required if you're doing a major update (e.g. 4.3.x to 4.4.x), not a minor one (4.4.2 to 4.4.3).

They probably should stop bundling them together (with their Ota manager) like they did with the latest PA

I guess it's supposed to be for convenience, so you don't have to update them all through Play Store. I don't know why they're broken for you lol

those probably weren't old enough to force a immediate update
like if you were to flash gingerbread gapps on a 4.4 rom (if it actually worked), everything would have an update, but a 4.4 gapps on 4.4.3 isn't new enough to override the rollout
Should I root my nexus 7? Nobody has really convinced me yet, though the ability to use a ps3 controller with it sounds awesome
The default theme doesn't bother me and I'm not really a poweruser, which seems to be the main target for rooting
