So someone wants to buy my Sony Potato for $50-60...
What do?
honestly, keep it as a backup. all things considered, the potato is not the worst thing to fall back to.
I'm curious, how is the battery life of the N5 to some of you?
I've been reading stuff about the battery life being pretty by the features, but its also depending how the used software is like.
Lets say, how long would the N5 be estimated to last if I keep up usage like this by average?
It proved to be very durable, and the plastic feel does not scare me.
??
How should that concern me as an average consumer? Less updates for outdated devices or something?
It honestly depends on what you like more.
If you prefer a bright screen over loud speakers then go for the S5. If you prefer tons of features over better performance and multitasking, also go for the S5. etc
What kind of performance issues does Galaxy S5 have compared to other flagships? So far I've encountered mixed reviews, both saying good and bad stuff.
Too much software not enough ram

Ah, I didn't notice at first that you work a Z2. All in all, how is the functionality for it? Did you happen to test durability/waterproofness of the screen?
I've not tested it's durability. I HAVE immersed it in water in an ill advised gambit to cool my phone down after leaving it in the sun too long. Nothing bad happened, thoug waterproofing does not protect against condensation due to rapid temperature swings. So it's best not to mess around with the S5 or Z2.

I can sell it and get a better back up phone :v:
That and it's already pretty old, the fact that I can get 60 bucks for this thing is already pretty good..

Nexus 7 has terrible camera lighting btw
So what's wrong with the broken ones?
far right - lost my APNS from a restart, and the signal has never came back, couldn't get my APNS back.
middle - out of the box it began a bootloop of infinite pain, took it to t-mo store, and the diagnostics revealed a defective device. once it locks it restarts basically.
far left - working fine now.
If there's anything that really attacts me on the S5 it's the camera, especially live HDR. That is a huge thing, especially in video
If you are buying a phone for its camera abilities you are doing it wrong.
You guys were right. The Nexus 5 is boss!

Not necessarily... the appeal of a smartphone is that it's a all-in-one device: camera, computer, phone

Yes, but you say that it's a huge thing, so it seems like it would be a deciding factor if you were to purchase a new device, over other specifications. Or I just might be reading you wrong :v:

a phone is most people's primary camera these days
you don't need to be a pro mlg photographer and use a dslr if you just want to take pretty pictures
Trying to get a new android because I accidented mine and planning to get a Nexus 5 considering this'll give me a phone that I've wanted for a while now and a phone without a contract tied to it.
Should I do this?

Alternatively replace the glass?

You don't even need a DSLR and fancy expensive glass anymore. Literally anyone with a recent iPhone or any recent phone with a decent camera (even the nexus 5) can take a good photo, edit it, make it look and get their photo onto a newspaper or magazine.
Here is a little story, I took a photo of someone and their award thingy, sent it to the school principal who sent it to a magazine and it has been printed and distributed. The magazine is usually read by mainly educators (teachers, principals, other school staff) and probably parents and students so I guess several thousand people saw it. Especially if it was a headline on the front page and was kinda big news in the world some time ago.
I literally took the photo with my nexus 5 stock Google camera :v: because it was the best camera I had on me and the better camera (a fancy Dancy DSLR) was left at home. You gotta work with whatever you have and the camera on a phone is often one of the important things people. Most people don't give a shit about how much ram or cores it has. It's all about the megapixels!
Alternatively replace the glass?
with how expensive glass replacements are he might as well just get a new phone.
1 hour 30 minutes into the day and my phone is already down 15%. I think my battery is actually getting worse.

LCD's fucked too.

Battery life: Galaxy Nexus. Seriously, some days its a miracle I make it to the end of the day on one charge. And that's just idling.
LG G3 get here SOONER.

My friend who has a S5 is thinking about buying an extended battery and giving me his old battery, so I might be in luck.

speaking of battery life, I get around 4-5 hours SOT whether on WiFi or LTE.
For some reason the Nexus 5 can tether LTE and use about 1% battery per 10 minutes. So 6% an hour, so ~16.5 hours of tethering before the battery should die.

If the G3's battery life is anything like the G2's you won't be disappointed:

I hope so. I'm practically 3 years behind in hardware. And I like how my biggest issue with the phone isn't performance. Its tolerable, but the radio and battery are horrid and probably interrelated honestly.
