You know you're in the middle of nowhere for several days when you get no signal in 80% of the town of a few hundred and barely a single bar of edge. No WiFi at the vrbo :suicide:
My phone was acting up. Factory reset it. Got stuck on the Verizon logo. Went to the Verizon store and they reset it again, with their shit in the back, and it worked. But seriously, fuck Samsung. Pure, 100% stock, and it fucks up a factory reset.
I had to recover my dad's s2 from a ODIN fail. "Plug phone into Kies and click recover. There was no option to recover the phone...

I haven't posted here before, and I don't really do that much tampering with my phone. I have an old Motorola Droid 3 that I've rooted and tried to find a good ROM for but it seems to have no love. (I can't imagine why.) My current phone is a Samsung Galaxy Note II from Verizon which just recently received the 4.4.2 update this week. Now I got this phone almost a year ago, so the warranty should be ending soon. I would love to root that and install the Xposed framework and just tweak the phone settings with that. I don't really want any custom ROMs because the stock software works fine for me and I'm happy with it. That being said, if I were to root my Note II, install Xposed and install modules. Would I still be able to get OTA updates without problems?
Sorry for asking all these stupid questions about the Nexus 5, but I'm trying to get as many information as possible before I buy the device, march straight to developer options and unlock the bootloader with ADB to customize it. I've seen the name hammerhead quite a lot about the N5, what is this name supposed to be? Apparently it's some kind of name for the N5 itself, and in the Omnirom download section there's a folder called hammerhead, but I'm not 100% sure.
All Android devices have a code name. Samsung likes to call theirs GT-something (like the GT-i9100, which is the S2), this is to better identify the different versions of the phones. Google likes to give their phones proper names, though, like Hammerhead, or Maguro (Galaxy Nexus GSM), but since they only made one type of Nexus 5, any ROM made for Hammerhead will work on yours.
Sometimes I wish the nexus 5 had a removable battery and I had a second one so I can just swap batteries and go somewhere in the evening without having to charge phone last minute or lug around my power bank. Oh the xiaomi power bank I have works fine, it's just one more thing to carry around.

I don't think I'd be expecting a lot of updates for the Note 2, though. Besides, you can take the back cover off, not sure how it'll handle being removed every other day, though.
there should be a setting for it in g+ app notification settings
thank you!
Wouldn't the extra battery also be one more thing to carry around? Besides, you can take the back cover off, not sure how it'll handle being removed every other day, though.
Well the spare is smaller so it would be easier to carry than a cheaper, bulkier power bank and in my case today the spare would he kept at home. According to teardowns, you have to wedge it out with thin tipped tools. I kind of also want a battery case too but I heard some of them are sketchy. Anyways today's case was really me not charging my stuff when I know I'm gonna be going out but not knowing when exactly in the evening. Power bank did save the evening tho. Without it I would have left home with the 25 percent. I kinda also wish the nexus 5 had a bigger battery too.

There doesn't appear to be any stable releases of current versions for it. I don't see any older builds either. As for the Note II, I just got the 4.4.2 update this week, so I doubt I'll be seeing another android update anytime soon. Maybe firmware updates, but that's about it.
lockscreen tweaks: replaced clock, disabled camera widget, modified framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk to remove several icons (also edited build.prop to remove the annoying adb notification) [vid]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/62645815/android/SCR_20140615_032908.webm[/vid]
editing APKs directly instead of using xposed is so 2012.
but is there really any difference if I'm just removing icons
yes: upgrading will be a twice as fun experience when you have to redo your mods. [editline]15th June 2014[/editline] (unless you want to stay on that android version forever!)

Also, does anyone know of a battery friendly app that notifies me when my phone receives a UDP packet from a certain IP address?
Link to wallpaper? Also, does anyone know of a battery friendly app that notifies me when my phone receives a UDP packet from a certain IP address?
doubt thats ever gonna be battery friendly (would have to keep listening at all times)
The Xposed module named GravityBox has such a feature.
Bought NBA Jam for 50p in the sale, won't download cause of Error 101. Apparently it's caused by DPI scaling but I have none at all on my tablet.
My phone got stuck on the T-Mobile screen, so I tried to go to the recovery menu. Instead of doing that, it went ahead and factory reset my whole damn device. I really hope it didn't delete my photos.
All my fucking contacts are gone, I have to install all my shit. Fuck you LG.
Sounds to me like it was your fault.
Sounds to me like it was your fault.
My phone doesn't have an actual recovery menu and I didn't know until I tried to open it. Instead it wiped my phone without warning. It didn't even saying it was wiping it, it showed an image of the Android mascot, then it rebooted it the first time setup. All my photos are still there, so I'm hoping my other files are still there. E: My SD card is safe, I just have to replace my contacts and apps.

You could maybe use airdroid, login on the device and your browser.

Thanks for the suggestion anyways.
why would you not have your contacts saved to your google account
Some people might not be comfortable with the thought that a company has a list of all their friends and family, so they disable that. Personally? I couldn't give a shit, I'll tell them all they would ever want to know as long as it makes things more convenient for me. v:v:v
why would you not have your contacts saved to your google account
Apparently some people are paranoid.
Sorry, I still have retarded-level android experience, this was just what LC called it, but I did dirty flash the updates and then the downgrade so technically I did that? Or no? Help me understand, thanks
Yes, you dirty flashed the updates and then dirty flashed an older version. Dirty flashing an older version is what messed you up, so dirty flashing in general doesn't lead to the Black Plague, only dirty flashing an older version (or sometimes a significantly newer version e.g. 4.3.x to 4.4.x).
Anyone else on PA where Chrome crashes when you try to search for something in the omni box?

[editline]15th June 2014[/editline]
Apparently some people are paranoid.
well this is what happens. I generally trust Google and I don't really care if they know who the people I know are
