I don't understand why Google Voice is even necessary, honestly
I already have a phone number, why do I need a second one that only works over wifi?
voicemail that doesn't suck
I made it yell when the battery gets low. I'm having too much fun.
Another one I use: set the phone to silent when the camera is open
Then your phone won't vibrate if you get a message while recording :v:

That's the most annoying shit ever
Pretty amazing. I used to own a Galaxy Nexus and could drain the battery to red in about 3 hours at work, since it can be slow.
Now it takes me at least 6, usually 7, hours to reach that.
I actually had an extended battery in the Galaxy Nexus too, which brought it up to around 1900-2100mAh.
Good to see a real comparisition, since I had a GNex too.
I was enjoying it, but battery life was a no-go for me at all.
The only thing left for me is to find a 32 gb version that is compatible with Russian LTE frequencies.
Bought a nexus wireless charger, but my case doesn't work with it... Should have looked it up before
Time to return the wireless charger.
voicemail that doesn't suck
That's why I use it. I don't have voicemails often, but when I do, its really nice to just be able to open an app and have them right there. Seriously, its 2014. why are we still dialing a phone number to listen to audio files.

Are you telling me this mobile facebook machine can make "calls"??
Are you telling me this mobile facebook machine can make "calls"??
Yeah, it was snuck in during a JellyBean update IIRC. Doesn't use data either. Truly amazing.

Because our carriers are stuck way in the past.
is GPS navigation without data possible? google's 'ok maps' pre-caching is useless without being able to search for addresses
is GPS navigation without data possible? google's 'ok maps' pre-caching is useless without being able to search for addresses
GPS itself works fine without data, but Google Maps tends to rely on it fairly heavily.
If you need a completely offline solution, I personally used Navfree. It got me from Sioux Falls, SD to Rochester, NY no problem at least. Its not as feature rich or as pretty, but for basic navigation, it gets the job done and is free too.

all I need is a map of my town and the surrounding countryside, I tried osmand but it seems kinda skittish when zooming out and moving around :v:
I wanted to use navfree but the maps won't download on it ahah
[editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
games that don't suck? :v: I've been screwing around with a skateboard thing, not familiar with mobile games at all
Try maps with me offline.
Try maps with me offline.
Does that have turn-by-turn navigation? Can't figure it out :v:
Project Svelte is amazing isn't it
A Moto G GPE?
what's the point? Like, seriously. :v:
except imo all the modifications on the x/g/e are actually good
(lookin at u samsung)
...But it's not like Motorola's apps do much worse than google apps
Does that have turn-by-turn navigation? Can't figure it out :v:
Unofrtuently no, it does have searching for locations.
duarteloveseverynexus.jpg
Holy shit!
O_O
How well does that actually run?
Apparently it outperforms CM7.
I need to see a video of this.
Outperforms CM7 in animation smoothness or actual usability?
I remember that ICS+ ROMs for my Inspire 4G would run smooth as fuck...until you actually started doing anything, then it'd get slower and slower, especially compared to AOSP Gingerbread ROMs.
I dunno if this goes in here but...
I just bought a Xperia M2, and I can't connect it to my wifi. It says it has an authentication problem and I have no idea why this happens. It's the only phone that can't connect to my wifi aswell.
I've searched elsewhere and some people say it might not support my router...
Well not everyone has unlimited minutes, for an example I have 150 local minutes that is shared between two phones, that's pretty little.
unlimited minutes sure but is it really worth being forced to use data for calls? i feel like that'd cost more than just upgrading your carrier plan
Calling 1-800 numbers goes towards minutes.
Sounds like you're getting ripped off by your carrier to me.

are you telling me AT&T did something ahead of the curve for once because i refuse to believe it
I just like having Google voice because I've gone through several sim cards and carriers in the past couple of years (mainly because of differing signal strength in areas, and some carriers changing their policies around to not be shit/be more shit) so it's nice to just give someone one number and not have to worry about porting numbers and shit like that.

except the app looks like shit, and unlocked users are second tier citizens on att anyways
Idiot Family Member Story Time! Gather 'round kids
So my mom's had an S3 for the past two years, its been pretty shit I'll just say. Touchwiz, shitloads of apps running all the time, grainy screen, battery that barely has an hour of screentime, freezes and crashes, etc.
She got fed up with some sort of glitch where repeatedly, her downloads would keep showing up in notifications on loop, and her phone took about 5 minutes to go the photo after taking a picture, and shit would slow down all the time, so last night she decided she'd "back up her stuff and reset to stock and put it back on"
Not a bad idea right? Except that I had no idea that she did it, literally never told me. Of course, she's still using Touchwiz Jelly Bean, doesn't have google account saving contacts or photos or anything (though I did get her set up to auto photo syncing with dropbox), but she used of all things, fucking Samsung Kies to "back up" her contacts and "photos and movies". Of course she doesn't really know lickety fucking split about Android so she thinks she's in the clear and resets to factory (why) and puts her stuff back on there.
Then she calls me today and she's like, "I need help with my phone please". As usual I go to help her and she tells what she did and I just facepalmed for a solid minute. Shes all upset over how she lost all her text messages and settings and app settings and customizations and everything. I told it to her like it was, she was SOL. Her contract's up next week so I'm pressuring her to get a G2 and I told her I'd root it, install recovery, custom not-shit rom, make it so her contacts and shit automatically sync, have automatic backup of stuff, etc if she did. She asked about the S5 and basically told her that if she got an S5 I'm not sure what I could really do to help her and she'd basically be on her own
tldr: computer illiterate person who thinks they know things, does things and shit goes down the drain
I have just found out that my warranty has expired on my Samsung Galaxy Note II. I would now like to play with the big boys and root my phone so I can install a few Xposed modules.
Is it worth rooting for that? I don't really want to flash a new rom on there. I'm kinda happy with what stock is offering, I just would like to change a few things for performance reasons.

how do you even disable contact syncing wtf
except the app looks like shit
half of the apps in the android ecosystem look like shit, i've completely given up on #HOLOYOLO as long as the damn thing works
and unlocked users are second tier citizens on att anyways
define "second tier" because i've had nothing but good experience for the past few years i've been with them and i'm absolutely sure they know by now i'm running crazy mods on my phone (which would probably make me worse than a regular unlocked)
