unlimited minutes sure but is it really worth being forced to use data for calls? i feel like that'd cost more than just upgrading your carrier plan Sounds like you're getting ripped off by your carrier to me. are you telling me AT&T did something ahead of the curve for once because i refuse to believe it
I don't have to use phone data, I can use WiFi for calls. useful if I was at home or somewhere with decent wifi like mcdonalds if i really need to. voice doesnt use that much data and google voice is popular to people who probably use t-mobile 100 minutes with 5GB LTE data.
Finally got into the Google Now anywhere access. Needed to switch to English Simplified... which means having to put up with the related TTS voice. Why can't it carry from my phone's TTS settings? *sigh*
I don't have to use phone data, I can use WiFi for calls. useful if I was at home or somewhere with decent wifi like mcdonalds if i really need to. voice doesnt use that much data and google voice is popular to people who probably use t-mobile 100 minutes with 5GB LTE data.
Is maccas wifi actually decent in Canada? Here we only get 50mb per session at what feels like dialup
Just wiped my Nexus 7 and Nexus 5 completely. Installed Purity 4.4.4. Running beautifully.

Of course not every resturant would have WiFi but generally McDonalds, Starbucks, libraries, Tim Hortons, some malls, store locations (such as Apple Store) have free WiFi that is good enough or really fast (I'm looking at you Apple Store). McDonalds, Starbucks, Tim Hortons and various other places usually cap it per connecting device. Usuaully somewhere around 2-5Mbps. Airports have free wifi, some of them charge tho. Places like colleges and universities and similar institutions or community places (pools, parks, libraries, etc.) have free wifi, some require log in/account. Where I'm at, the closest free WiFi is either the McDonalds or Library. Ever since getting mobile data, I'm no longer on the hunt for WiFi all the time and bumming around just to get WiFi :v: It kinda depends on where you are at but in general there is free WiFi around the place. Oh by the way, incoming calls go towards my local minutes usage. If I can accept the call via mobile data (doesn't matter since I have unlimited LTE right now) instead, I'd be saving up on my minutes and if I go over the 150 minutes, it's like 40 cents/minute. It's a pain in the ass but soon enough I'll get a much better plan.
The mcdonalda around here tell you to get out if youbsit on their wifi for more than an hour
The mcdonalda around here tell you to get out if youbsit on their wifi for more than an hour
Use Swiftkey.
I've never been able to get the McDonalds wifi here to work. I can connect to it fine, the signal strength is excellent, but internet access simply doesn't work. I'm wondering if there should be some kind of gateway page that's supposed to pop up to get me to accept a ToS first and it simply isn't appearing.
Use Swiftkey.
But muh emojis 😞 [editline]2nd July 2014[/editline]
I've never been able to get the McDonalds wifi here to work.
Idiot Family Member Story Time! Gather 'round kids So my mom's had an S3 for the past two years, its been pretty shit I'll just say. Touchwiz, shitloads of apps running all the time, grainy screen, battery that barely has an hour of screentime, freezes and crashes, etc. She got fed up with some sort of glitch where repeatedly, her downloads would keep showing up in notifications on loop, and her phone took about 5 minutes to go the photo after taking a picture, and shit would slow down all the time, so last night she decided she'd "back up her stuff and reset to stock and put it back on" Not a bad idea right? Except that I had no idea that she did it, literally never told me. Of course, she's still using Touchwiz Jelly Bean, doesn't have google account saving contacts or photos or anything (though I did get her set up to auto photo syncing with dropbox), but she used of all things, fucking Samsung Kies to "back up" her contacts and "photos and movies". Of course she doesn't really know lickety fucking split about Android so she thinks she's in the clear and resets to factory (why) and puts her stuff back on there. Then she calls me today and she's like, "I need help with my phone please". As usual I go to help her and she tells what she did and I just facepalmed for a solid minute. Shes all upset over how she lost all her text messages and settings and app settings and customizations and everything. I told it to her like it was, she was SOL. Her contract's up next week so I'm pressuring her to get a G2 and I told her I'd root it, install recovery, custom not-shit rom, make it so her contacts and shit automatically sync, have automatic backup of stuff, etc if she did. She asked about the S5 and basically told her that if she got an S5 I'm not sure what I could really do to help her and she'd basically be on her own tldr: computer illiterate person who thinks they know things, does things and shit goes down the drain
LG G3 comes out this month, get the G3. Recent G2's have terrible quality control and LG doesn't give much love to their older phones.

My school has something like that, sometimes I don't get the notification, so I just go to some website then it works.

Oh, no, it's if I go to any webpage, well most of the time.

And she doesn't really need a removable battery or an sd card And the G3 has no official release date for AT&T, which is what we're on
Had an issue with my phone last night. The SIM card would cease to be detected. Fucking awful piece of garbage.

I can get an upgrade in less than a month, thinking about getting the LG G3 or the One M8. Are there any rumors about any new flagship phones coming out within the next month?
Is there a way to dual boot it with Android yet?
You can do it with Multirom, I think they say how on the wiki entry.

But on LAN, there is a login gate, and since I live at the campus, I get this on my pc, which I then ad-hoc /hosted network to my tablet/phone with ICS for internet (Which I also do at free wireless points since you can run a hosted network while on a wireless network)
The mcdonalda around here tell you to get out if youbsit on their wifi for more than an hour
I remember bumming around at a McDonalds for 8 hours straight sipping my dollar drink all day long. I saw stuff. I saw what hours are busy and what hours are not. Oh and every hour I had to log in again. Basic accept terms of use portal that redirects you to their website.
The mcdonalda around here tell you to get out if youbsit on their wifi for more than an hour
I remember when McDonalds wifi actually cost money. I think that was 5 or 6 years ago.
I remember when McDonalds wifi actually cost money. I think that was 5 or 6 years ago.
when wifi rolled out in participating McDonald's in Canada, it was free and it was great. It used to be faster, now it's painfully slow. Sometimes none of my devices can even connect, it's like the router can only handle 50 devices.
I got a knock-off headset button. Like Pressy, but not $30. Headset Button Controller + Tasker = Perfect.
I got a knock-off headset button. Like Pressy, but not $30. Headset Button Controller + Tasker = Perfect.
i should seriously go get one off ebay
Yeah, I found one on Amazon the other day. Prime too, so free shipping.
