Android L is quite neat, the Nexus 4 finally has a port. Everything but camera and bluetooth is working, which isn't too bad as ports go.

My contract is up in December time, and my parent's aren't going to get me another 2 year'er, so I've decided I want a PAYG or Sim-free handset, and I'm looking to spend around £200. What can I get?

Battery saver probably doesn't do anything though so I suspect it'll be much like 4.4.

i still can't recreate how hot my phone got yesterday.
i still can't recreate how hot my phone got yesterday.
You won't be able to, it's literally a random thing. Just hope to god that your phone doesn't explode into flames :v:
what should i do about this issue. go to samsung?
You can get burns from long-term contact with warm surfaces, it's possible there's nothing wrong with your phone since you said you fell asleep on it. I remember the manual for my PSP mentioned taking breaks while gaming because of the possibility of low-temperature burns. How hot is it actually getting?
it was the hottest i have ever felt my phone get. i have a feeling it has something to do with my shitty battery and how it likes to last only 6-7 hours.
You should probably call up samsung and tell them you've smelt a slight burning smell and your phone was too hot to touch and you had to rip the charger out of the wall or something. If it was seriously so hot that you couldn't hold it you should probably just lie and get it replaced as decent phones have functioning temperature sensors which are safety features to prevent anything from happening.
it was the hottest i have ever felt my phone get. i have a feeling it has something to do with my shitty battery and how it likes to last only 6-7 hours.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
Especially considering you have to hold the thing to your face. That's dangerous.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
so many things are wrong with mine. hope samsung will replace it.. that reminds me, i should call them right now. they said they would call me at 1 but they didnt.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
My LG G2 can get decently warm if something tries to murder the battery or if I'm draining it of gigabytes of tethered data but nothing more than something which would be nice to hold with cold hands.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
My Nexus 4 can get pretty toasty.
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
I got my Galaxy Nexus to 60C once. I'm genuinely surprised it didn't combust.
Since someone here isnt on Hangouts and owns a Nexus 4 (I think most of the people here are on the Android Hangouts but, you know), an stable for daily use ROM port of L is now available: http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-4/development/lpv-79-mako-port-beta-t2807446
I've never had a phone that gets hot to touch, something is wrong with yours and you should get it replaced.
My HTC One gets pretty warm but never even close to being uncomfortable.
Well, my Galaxy S5 finally took a swim. I was sitting at my lakehouse and it fell out of my pocket, took a bounce into the lake and I didn't notice for about 10 minutes. Then I went to look for it, saw it in the sandy end of the lake face up, and said "SHIT". Swam in, grabbed it off the bottom (probably only 6 feet deep or so), brought it back to dry land, pushed the lock button, and it lit up and worked like nothing had even happened. I took the case I have on it off to dry the phone, opened up the back panel just for fun, and neither of the two water tampering stickers had been activated. The phone survived pretty well and I am very impressed. I think this is a lot better testament to the water resistance of the phone than people telling stories about bringing it into the hot shower with them and something breaking because they forgot about steam.
I kinda want a Galaxy S5 now, just in case. And my nexus 4 is getting slow and the battery life is terrible (even after a factory reset)
After tons of wakelocks it is time to full wipe and set up again (after half a year). Anyone else on a note 1 here? Got some suggestions on what ROM to try next?
went on a film shoot, had my phone on full screen brightness because we were outdoors the entire time, charged my phone plenty of times with the xiaomi 10400mAh mi charger, good thing I brought my long USB charging cable that came with the nexus 5 so I can just put the power bank in my lower front pocket of my pants and have a cable connect to my phone in my right main pocket. At the end, it looks like I've charged my phone about 3 full times. glad I had it. What I've noticed that day: -Maps takes 3 seconds to open up and load, why is it so slow now -Maps directed us onto a service road instead of the main entrance, oh well we ended up taking that road in and out a bunch of times -Navigation sucks up so much battery, especially on full screen brightness -In Maps, I searched for Tim Hortons and it gave me one that was far away. As we were driving around, we found one on the road. Like what the hell Maps. Sometimes it wouldn't even give me any nearby results for gas. Being in Toronto, I find that impossible for there to be no gas station for a 5km radius. -LTE works in northern Ontario in a forest with trees all over the place and I get 20 down. As I look at the coverage map, the entire area that I was in had the 150Mbps LTE coverage... not bad.. I wonder how bad the coverage and speeds would have been if I was on Wind.. Looking at the Wind coverage map, it says it would have been in the variable network so I'll assume it would be roaming.
