This where you can see the difference between good games and bad games
A good game doesn't have to rely on social networks to get popular
If it's great, it will spread through people on it's own
See 2048 (dismissing it's clones)
lol oxymoron
Also you can use a file manager to set your ringtone manually
No it actually just fails, no matter how you set it
I don't really play games on my phone at all
I used to play a bunch of games but now it's just on and off.
Too much Netflix...
All I play on my phone is Minesweeper, while I sit on the pot.
So I just used 155GB off LTE
Didn't Crazy Taxi come out for Android as well?
Yeah, it wasn't very fun though, at least on my Nexus 5. I think it was either laggy, or the controls were terrible and there was no controller support.
enabled full device encryption on my phone. xposed still works. kewl.
I really hate some developers. Looking for a way to password protect the recovery in some way, and basically the only response you get is "There's no point because people can just use fastboot/odin"
That's like saying "Why lock your doors, people can just go through the window". I know I can't make it impossible, but that doesn't mean I want wiping my phone to be piss easy

If your phone isn't bone stock you've basically compromised security anyway. Since compromising security is how you root/flash a new recovery.

Well yes and no
Unlocking your bootloader is a big security risk, yes, probably the biggest of them all as far as what could happen if your phone is stolen or whatever.
However as far as the Android OS goes, like in normal usage, a lot of security vulnerabilities are patched in custom ROMs and xposed modules and shit before Google or the OEM gets a chance to roll out a fix.

its not a security risk at all if you encrypt your shit.
[editline]10th July 2014[/editline]
the only difference it makes is that if someone steals your shit theyll have to unlock the bootloader first. not a big deal.
it would be interesting if it was possible to relock the bootloader with a different key, and make any further unlocks require that key, but i guess its never gonna happen.
good point

Nexus devices factory reset the device when the bootloader is unlocked.
How about any good games with Google Integration?
Already have a few on my account (Super Hexagon, Deemo, Flappy Bird)
Plague Inc has it.

hence why you should encrypt your shit

I would love to encrypt my shit but on my S4 I have to use SafeStrap to access a custom recovery and my understanding is that encrypting it breaks so much shit. SafeStrap would allow just anybody to reboot my phone and have it automatically pop up asking for me to access recovery because of the way the exploit works. From there anybody could do anything with my phone. It's either security or customization thanks to the way Samsung became Apple-tier in terms of locked down bullshit.

tbh you brought it upon yourself for buying shitty assmung phones. sorry to hear that :(
Yeah, I'm never buying Samsung again.

What's it like being able to use more than 2GB without having to spend an arm and a leg?
Last thing I want on my phone is a method for the local government to disable it.
It could be interesting if Android devices had a feature similar to iCloud Lock, probably won't ever happen (Maybe a good thing considering how locked down it has becoming?) considering how different the platform is compared to iOS devices
There is "Devices" for Android. It's not installed when you get your phone, but it's free from the play store, and you can put a password on it too. You can also send it messages, or have it ring until you unlock it.
You mean Device Manager?
Sure
Yeah, I'm never buying Samsung again.

Well I'd be able to use 5GB+ (supposedly throttled speeds after 5GB) since I got a Wind 39 Sim but anyways...
If I ignore the following, with good reason:
Tethering - only because my home Internet is slow (it is 6.25Mbps down, 0.7Mbps up) so I used it to download crap like Steam games on Steam, other PC games, Netflix in 1080p, Chromecast content such as YouTube, among other things. If my home Internet was faster, I'd use WiFi without much of a problem. It's nice to also have my own network to use that isn't sometimes clogged otherwise.
Speedtest - well I did actually use that much speedtesting everywhere I go and I will likely continue providing hundreds of results to Speedtest.net General consensus of Rogers LTE: it's pretty fast and it works, generally 20-40 down. Peaked at 85Mbps down. Still much faster than my home Internet.
Solid Explorer - some file transfering I wouldn't bother to do on my phone if I had better home Internet
YouTube - well I'd probably use my home network, it can handle 720p YouTube just fine and the YouTube app currently supports max 720p with 1080p for select people (a.k.a. not me yet) but soon enough a YouTube update will enable 1080p streaming (finally)
Google Play Store - would update my crap on home wifi instead
Google+ - most of the usage was the auto photo uploading which I set to use mobile data only, instead I would have selected use WiFi only and if charging but now any photo I take is automatically backed up which is pretty nice.
Now for apps that I actually use.
Hangouts, Chrome, Twitter, Google Music, Reddit Sync, Maps, Snapchat, Facebook, Soundcloud, Firefox, Google Play Newsstand, One Number, Transit, Push Bullet, Gmail, Swiftkey, Chrome beta, Steam, Skype, Imgur, App Sales, Evernote, My Rogers and all other apps, chances are if I had a limit (which I will realistically in a month) I would use WiFi as much as possible and only use mobile data on the go anyways. I wouldn't constantly look for free open WiFi networks anymore or as much.
Overall it's good, I'm making good use of it and plan on using it more. My battery life is probably a lot worse then it should be because LTE reception is sometimes shit while HSPA/3G reception is full bars everywhere I go. It's just because of shitty wall penetration but even with 1 bar of LTE, I can still get 20-30 down. It's just my phone is spending more battery towards getting a better LTE signal a lot of the time. I still like how there is LTE in the middle of nowhere now.
When I use Wind, I'd be always on 3G so theoretically full bars everywhere if their reception is as good as their coverage map says. It's probably a lot worse but their speedtests are good in general.
I got to experimenting with screen mirroring for Chromecast with my Nexus 7. I was surprised.
For my first test, I just ran some simple apps and played around to test for smoothness. Homescreen, Web Browser, and some misc. stuff I have installed. There was delay and a small bit of input lag on the device itself but I was surprised at how smooth it all was. That gets a pass.
For my next test I tried movies. Using MX Player, I played a 720p file and a 480p file (Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring, and a random MST3K episode, respectively) and they played just fine. There was a slight bit of choppiness for the movies but it wasn't so bad that you wouldn't be able to get used to it after a few moments. The sound was just fine, too. I also tried out Netflix and YouTube (Even though that's the sub-optimal way of doing it on Chromecast,) and it played just fine. There are better ways of watching movies on your TV but if all you have is a Chromecast and a Android phone this would work just fine. I give it a pass.
For my penultimate test I tried a game. I booted up Deus Ex: The Fall. to my surprise it ran at full frames on the screen. Input was slightly delayed, but the sound was terrible, with strange artifacts all over the place. I was surprised that it ran as quickly as it did but ultimately probably not the best way to play full 3D games. I'm sure less resource-intensive games won't have the sound issue. I give this a reluctant pass in that it's still playable.
My final test was a doozy. I took RetroArch and I stuck a MediEvil ISO in there to run on one the PS1 emulator. I then took my PS3 controller and synced it up to my Tablet. I put it in screen mirroring and tried to play it. This just didn't work at all, it would pause for several seconds at a time and it struggled to keep up (though it still ran full speed on my tablet's screen.) If you wanted to play fifth generation console games using this feature I think that you will be disappointed. This ultimately brought the Chromecast to its knees and thus fails.
Bottom line is that I'm really surprised at how well this damn thing runs. I will be taking advantage of this to play movies in the months to come because it's easier than burning a DVD or plugging my computer into my TV. I'm gonna be doing more experiments later. I'm gonna find a few 1080p files and I'll try some less resource intensive games and emulators to see how they fare.

you don't actually need the app on your phone
it's powered by GMS, not the ADM app

Do you run a speed test every 4 seconds
it takes a insane amount of data for just 1 test
kinda crazy
Do you run a speed test every 4 seconds
yes
it's my strange addiction
but really, it takes about a minute per test and uses around 50-70MB of data usage. I have over 300 results done in this past 30 days.

i did many tests in various locatioons at different times on different networks (LTE and HSPA)
