You guys are lucky to have plans that allow for unlimited tethering. Even if we switched to T-Mobile we'd be limited to 12GB of 4G and then 2G speeds :(.

After this billing cycle (which ends in early-mid August), I get bumped down to 2.1GB of usage. Then I'll probably ditch Rogers and use Wind (5GB softcap). Gonna sure miss the LTE speeds.. and unlimited data..
yes
it's my strange addiction
but really, it takes about a minute per test and uses around 50-70MB of data usage. I have over 300 results done in this past 30 days.
I feel like a starving man watching a bunch of rich kids have a food fight. I barely have any food but you have virtually infinite so I'm just watching you do useless bullshit with it from afar with jealousy.

I'm more of the poor kid that met a rich kid and is experiencing what the rich kids do

my phone is always on mobile data so I guess I'll have to remember you all day every day <3

Wow, that really bites. Is it 150MB of LTE data?
Wow, that really bites. Is it 150MB of LTE data?
That would really suck. Use a months worth of data in a minute or so.

what did they get rid of unlimited
when i visited murica i used up 55 gb of tmobile data in a month

tethering and all
T-Mobile still has unlimited data but their largest tethering plan is 12GB of LTE now. Theoretically it's unlimited tethering but you're capped at 2G speeds after your tethering plan size..
what if you just tether on the normal unlimited plan tho

As someone who doesn't root their phone or use custom ROMs, I assume it has some sort of authentication process which would stop me.
Does PDANet still exist and work? Didn't that let you tether via USB using your data connection without root?
Idk, I just used the built in tethering on my Lumia.

Not if you root and flash a new rom
[editline]10th July 2014[/editline]
I couldn't enable tethering via USB,BT, or WiFi on the stock ROM through settings or apps without paying for a tethering plan ON TOP of my unlimited data plan. After flashing PA I can now tether to my hearts content

I had that issue with my nexus 5 when I first got LTE on Rogers, apparently something had to be set in the system somewhere from 0 to 1 so that required root so I might as well jump the gun, root, unlock bootloader and flash PA. I think I had to flash a zip to get tethering to work. After that I was tethering practically every day hitting over 100GB of it.
[editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
It was Google fault I couldn't tether in the first place as it seems.
Anyways I like PA.

AFAIK it's an iptables thing in the stock rom related to the tmobile tethering apk.
I got my replacement Moto G.
Motorola even included a new envelope with a prepaid shipping label on it in the envelope that contained the phone.
This is the best RMA process I've ever dealt with.
Free 1-day shipping, no frills packaging, they send you the phone first, no credit card holds..it's awesome

some mobile providers (i know of giffgaff, there are probably others) use deep packet inspection to figure out if you have multiple devices using the same network. if they find out you've been tethering they ban you for 30 minutes or so.
I know if you're on Verizon they got a court order to stop that shit so you can root and make a mobile hotspot to your heart's content.

I've got 5GB of 4G (which I can't get around here), and then unusable speeds after that.
Can anyone recommend a good pair of earphones for a good price, I've currently been using some old apple earphones, but the casing has started coming apart.
I use JVC Xtreme Xplosivs, cost about £10 a pair and they're pretty good and durable.

I've been trying different roms. Oops.
So here's how to get the Galaxy Gear working on a non-Samsung phone:
1. Install Gear Manager on the phone
That's it. Connect via bluetooth, and apps like S-Voice won't even show up. Although the app acts a little funky on the phone and the phone thinks the watch is a handsfree device, so it's obviously far from perfect. But notifications + the camera work great.
Think I'll sell it and get a Moto 360 when that comes out, though.
Anyone here familiar with TWRP recovery? For me it's screen turns black when it starts flashing the rom. I thought updating it would solve the problem, but after installing 2.7 for my phone, it does the same. Could it be the ROM's fault or is my phone just falling apart?
[editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
It was definitely the ROM's fault. I flashed another rom and it worked.

Verizon is finally refunding the $135 bullshit early cancellation fee they charged me with, after telling me it was dealt with and then having their system charge me anyway.
I cancelled because of poor reception/service and customer support. I'm not paying that.
HAH! FUCK YOU ATT! I went straight to Samsung and they're gonna repair/replace my phone in its current condition for free. I'm gonna write up a nice note, complete with a list of all my problems, and i'm gonna go buy some skittles for the technician.
Also, i tested ultra power saving mode last night just to see if it improved standby time. Went to bed at 2:30/3:00am with my phone at 30%. Woke up at 10:00am with it at 20%. Needless to say, it didn't work.
and i'm gonna go buy some skittles for the technician.
and then he'll open them before fixing your phone
and suddenly find out he's extremely allergic to skittles
and die
and your phone will not get fixed
