They're improving wake locks, if developers update their applications to the new api
It kinda seems like a lot more android devs are taking Google's api's seriously, like before back in the 2.2 days they didn't give a fuck but I noticed a difference when KitKat was released.
Tegra K1 is actually a pretty big deal...
But they offered less than desirable support for their drivers, especially after successive models came out. Why do you think Asus went with Qualcomm for the Nexus 7 2013 edition?
The Tegra K1 is impressive under the hood, but Nvidia has not historically been quite friendly to developers on the mobile platform. Again, they completely dropped support for the AP33 and AP37 Tegra 3 chipsets, so devices with those chipsets were not compatible with 4.4. Nvidia almost did the same thing with Tegra 2 and 4.0, so let's hope they don't chuck the K1 under the bed when they release the next model.

All things considered, though, I really want a Shield. And an Nvidia GPU. So I can play pretty Android games, then play PC games all throughout my house. That right there is good tech.

looks to me like they stopped being cunts to developers at some point in history?

oh wait, that still doesnt talk about their experiences with mobile GPUs. my bad!

It does talk about how terrible Qualcomm is though in comparison.
I got my g3 today and the camera has this weird beauty slider if youre using the front facing camera. At max it looks like im wearing heavy makeup
So yesterday I took over my mom's old Galaxy S3. I've only downloaded a new launcher and I wonder what apps should I get? Which ones do you consider must-have apps?

Could it be related to the extreme make-up beauty fashion trend in Asia?

That's a hard category to define, since Android is so customizable. There are dozens of browsers to choose from, dozens of texting apps to choose from, dozens of dialers to choose from, and there's no dearth of games.
Apps that are unique to the Android platform - well, the biggest recommendation I have is Tasker, which at 4 United States funbucks, is the best automation app ever. You can set it so when you connect to your home Wi-Fi, it automatically turns your phone from silent to loud and I think you can disable security too.
Live Wallpapers are a big win for customization. I'm sure you probably already know what they are, so I won't describe them, but there are a lot of good ones. For example Maxelus.net has some great space-themed wallpapers that I love.
Got sick of constantly hitting the "battery settings" button on the low battery popup, so I disabled them through Gravitybox and replaced it with a Tasker notification
Removable low battery notice at 20%, permanant critical one at 10, removes them both if phone is charging

I've had a bunch of Androids before but never bothered to customize them much. Pretty much all I've used my phone for the last three or so years has been to check the time.
Thing is that now that I've got a good Android phone, I can use it as it was intended. But I don't know for what :v:
I hope somebody can help me out on this issue I have here.
I have posted this a long time ago as well, and I still haven't managed to solve the issue.
My brother has a Galaxy Mini GT-S5570I and I broke the mount points by flashing a wrong recovery,(Google looked for GT-S5570 without I), so now when I access the recovery I get errors saying ''Can't mount /system'' for example.
Are there any options I can try here at this point? I've tried to flash the stock firmware on it, which didn't do anything, and I'm trying to find a way to use ADB to restore it if there's someway to install a ADB function on this phone.
This is my home screen, which is pretty much all I've done with it other than disabling useless samsung apps that kill the battery:

When I touch the orb on the first picture I get a small circular menu with my own shortcuts. I love this launcher and the app drawer is more organized to my liking aswell which I open by dragging my finger to the right:

And there went my automerge :v:
My case and screen protector that were supposed to be here on different days later in the week both showed up yesterday :v:k
Can't decide between Z1 or Z1c.
I am familiar with little screens, but Z1 seems more mature to me.
Can someone help?
Ok am I fucking something up really hard here?
I flashed the stock firmware, which fixed the mounting issues, then I flashed two different ROMs which both cause the partitions to fail mounting properly again.

What do you mean more mature? They're pretty much the exact same phone apart from the screen size and resolution. It's not like with other companies when they make smaller phones and gimp them.

Muzei (changes wallpaper at a given interval) Reddit for Muzei (get pictures from Reddit, say what you want about them, they post nice pictures), Pushbullet (get notifications from your phone on your computer) Finn.no, Snapchat (PM me for my snap name, honey ;* ), Hangouts if it's not installed (better SMS client, also has online messaging) Bil og Henger (Vegvesenet, look up license plates, and check if you can drive with a trailer), Ebay, Commandr if you use Google Now voice control (and US language)
Do they make 6-7in android phones with really thin bezels like the Optimus G Pro I have or the LG G2?
I feel like I could upsize a little bit comfortably but I'm not sure they even make those.

LG G Pro 2?
OK maybe it's just my nexus 5 because it loves to disconnect from many wifi networks for no apparent reason . This has always happened
That happened to me too, but in a Moto G.
It stopped when I dissabled "wi-fi battery savings" or something like that.
Or the LG G flex

Got my new case and screen protector on my phone. Way better. Doesn't get stuck in my pocket and a real screen protector is miles better than one integrated in a case.
Gary I hate you even more I tried to complain about my internet plan to get better internet but I just ended up getting my plan cancelled
What. How.
Anyways I started without a data plan, my contract was going to end soon and I have other services on Rogers hence leverage.
Customer since 2005 too, have absolutely no plans to ever leave :v:
Sprint is absolutely terrible, T-Mobile has basically the best coverage in the PNW as far as populated areas. My GF has Sprint and I do believe Del91 does too and we're both Oregon(well he's like Vancouver or some shit). Unless you're in a Sprint Spark location their LTE is just hardly what T-Mobile HSPA was on their original HSPA 14.4 implementation in early 2010. You're lucky to get 10mbps, ever. I fucking wifi hotspot my phone so she can use decent internet.
I'm gonna go take a look at it at T-Mobile on July 17th for the hell of it, I'm really kinda thinking about it since my JUMP is worth more than my phone and my G2 has been having the boot screen corruption which is generally attributed to the screen killing up to 30 lines of pixels on the right of the screen
I don't think Portland even has Spark deployed yet, and I can't think of another city here big enough to warrant their attention at all. I'm switching back to T-Mo as soon as I'm able, probably within the next 6 months.

15 whole markets have it even though they are on a nation wide misinformation campaign of how much they really have.

Sprint just finally rolled out an LTE tower on my side of town, it's good for about 11mbps down which is actually very good for Sprint...
I wonder if you could beg TMO to pay your "ETFs". :v:
Fucking Tacoma, really? Fucking god damn Tacoma?
High PPI can spoil you so much. I've had my Evo 3D for 2 years now and thought it's qHD screen was pretty enough, but after using the Nexus 7 2013 I ordered a week ago for awhile, my phones screen now looks abysmal.

Maybe, but I'm not actually on a service contract, I don't think. The only thing actually keeping me on Sprint is the monthly device payment.
I tried live streaming off my phone on LTE, it crashed after 40 or so minutes. The quality is crap despite having 20 up.
Is it a normal thing that my phone on Android 4.4.x gets warm/hot very quickly (even when doing basic stuff) and has at least twice worse battery life in comparison to 4.3.x and lower?
There are no apps which seem to be draining my battery, it's not overclocked, I can provide some pics if anybody wants.
Ordered my OnePlus One, will be with me in ~week <3
