I'm gonna do a roadtrip in like 6 hours and I remember thinking of getting one of those cigarette lighter USB chargers but they were all around $15-20 (didn't look at Pacific Mall or chinese phone shops, whoops) last year on a much longer trip (to Ottawa, Quebec City, Montreal (heh their anime con Otakuthon was happening)) and I noticed that I would never use it after that trip. So yeah, just saved money for being a cheap ass and knowing I can get one for much less. Even now, I haven't got to the point of even getting one. Now I have a power bank which I find is more useful which charges faster, I can carry it on my person and it was a lot cheaper in the long run and I wouldn't possily kill the car battery.
During the trip, I never really ran out of battery. I did the usual power saving methods like turning all the crap I don't need, not using max screen brightness but I still used GPS, Google Maps, took photos and videos and at the end of the day in the hotel I was around 10-20%. It was suprised my potato lasted that long a year ago. I wish I took screenshots of the battery stats though.
And now I want to get some sort of car dock.
I have car chargers but they dont put out enough juice to charge my phone. :(

yeah i noticed a lot of those car chargers only around 500mAh (which is very slow) to 1000mAh (which is a lot better and you can probably use google maps navigation and actually charge your phone maybe at the same time).
currently stuck between getting a HTC Desire 816, OnePlus One (if i can ofc) or an OPPO Find 7
one of the breakers for the oneplus one for me is the lack of sd card support
does anyone else have any suggestions for other phones in that area that are better or equivalent?
Accidently installed a root application that causes my phone to become a brick on boot.
Still have access to Bootloader and TWRP
Unsure how I can remove application, as phone does not reach launcher state.

Probably crashing because it's using dalvik on ART
Are there any users here who have the Moto G?
I consider getting money for that one as its more simply to afford for me at this point, but I want to be sure.

boot into recovery.
$ adb shell
~ # mount /data
~ # rm /data/app/eu.chainfire.pryfi*
~ # sync
~ # umount /data
then reboot your phone.

Says it couldn't find the file, so I removed it via TWRP file manager
Still no progress unfortunatly, looking at my options
My last backup was nine days ago

looks like it fucked up your networking. id reflash the rom (does not need to be a clean flash).
I bought a Belkin 2.1 amp charger recently, though I don't know if my Note 3 will use all of that. Cheap, Chinese chargers can be pretty dangerous considering how much power a car battery can store.

Ahh, the sound of progress
Thanks Gran

Then you look at all of the chargers you have and they're all made in China.
Can anyone with a G3 tell me how it feels durability wise? I'm upgrading to it on Verizon next week and I want to know if the Otter Box for it is necessary, I'm not exactly careless when it comes to my phones but I don't want it to shatter on the off chance I drop it.
It feels amazing, the polish on it is incredible. Think HTC M8 but a somewhat imitation but made in plastic. Plastic is a bit better of a casing than metal since metal is so soft so IMO it's somewhat better even despite not having that awesome cool feeling.
It also has a flush glass screen with the casing bezels so it doesn't have that beveled lip glass that made the G2/iPhones so easy to break the glass on. However LG replacement parts are usually pretty damn cheap and the G2 was easy to disassemble.
I've used nothing but a Zagg screen protector and a basic Diztronic TPU case, it's been plenty and I don't suggest anything more for any basic user unless your phone is literally in danger from your line of work or hobbies.

I'm really contemplating picking up a G3 since I owe $435 on my G2 still and it's only worth $300 on swappa.
-snip, wrong tab-
I don't understand, the D851 T-Mobile G3 has a unlocked bootloader?

That's pretty damn cool if it does, I think I'll go get one then.
This outlet mall I'm in is cool, there's those power outlets with USB charging ports everywhere. Too bad the seating avaliablility is mediocre.

Sounds like Uni lectures. 300 seats, 10 power outlets
anyone?
Does the phone shake a lot in the holder?
I have this crappy "Exogear Exomount"-lookalike holder from china, and while it stays on my windshield like it's afraid of it's life, when I'm on a bumpy road (read: when I go outside in this country), the phone shakes in it enough to make the screen very blurry and hard to read.
I also had a $4 exomount knockoff (The one with the two "Claws") and the suction cup became detached from the spring and it also fell off with my phone going screen-first into my cupholders. My genuine one does shake quite a bit, though that might also be due to the vinyl that covers the dash. I drove on a rather bumpy road today and it did bounce around a bit. It still wasn't too difficult to read the numbers on Torque Pro.
anyone?
I'd go for the OnePlus One simply because it's a solid phone. The lack of SD card can always be solved with a USB OTG cable and a portable drive. (I know it's not practical for music and pictures but if you need the space for movies it might be alright) If you need the space for music there are some cheap unlimited data plans in the UK for streaming from Google Music and other services.

I have a Kenu Airframe and it's the best car mount I've used. Nothing is going to shake that thing loose. It blocks a vent so you may not want to use it in the winter (heater) but it holds so much better than anything with suction cups.
my phone is hotter than my desktop's cpu right now
cool.
Thermal limits on mobile CPUs are all kinds of fucked up.
My desktop CPU has a recommended max of 55 degrees, whilst my laptop starts at 52-55, and starts blowing fans at 60, and can hit 80 without throttling if you block vents/haven't cleaned it in 2 years etc.
Had to remove the heatsink, clean the fan etc. a few weeks back.

Interesting, though I can't imagine it would work well in my car. The plastic that the vents are made out of are super brittle. Half of my vents don't have knobs anymore since they snapped clean off during the winter.

I would never plug my phone into a usb socket I couldn't trust.
I always have my tablet charger which has a bonus usb slot which cannot transmit data

Yeah I would be careful what you plug it into. As "fake" USB charging stations exist. At least make sure USB debugging is disabled. However most phones will tell you if you are connected to a USB host and will make it very easy to tell if its malicious.

It has both wide and narrow clips to grab onto either thick or thin vent grates. I can't imagine any style of vent it won't be able to clip to, and it uses rubbery stuff instead of relying on springs to hold on so it shouldn't loosen over time. I've gotten it to work in multiple vehicles, from an 80s Jeep to a modern Mazda.
Do you have a picture of the vents? I might be able to tell if it'll work.
