I'd get an LTE tablet, get the share your data plan with your tablet plan for $10 a month and make it my home Internet.
Sprint doesnt offer more than 6gb of data for tablets and thats like $50

Damn, the current Rogers plans have "Share Everything" where a $10/month for a SIM card that works on any LTE compatible tablet which uses your plans data. If you have unlimited, so does the tablet or any other devices (like a wifi hotspot modem).
Verizon has a similar plan, but they're expensive as fuck.
Everything on Verizon is expensive as fuck...

I remember having it in the past and then it magically disappeared. It is nice it is back.
LG gPad 8.3 updated with knock-on code security, would be nice if they also pushed alongside it the new LG UI and the replacement of the context menu button with the most recent apps button
Hey guys! Now that I've got a job I'm thinking of getting a new phone to replace my current piece of dirt and I was hoping you people could help me out. You seems to know your shit.
I've been out of the phone loop for so long that I have no idea what's good and what's not.
Basically I'm looking for a phone with a good camera, decent battery life (I listen to music pretty much all day at work) and good durability. I have a habit of dropping my phones as well as scratching the screen.
I haven't got that much money so something on the cheaper side would be great if possible. Also, buying phones second hand, is it a good or bad idea?

If you have patience or luck on your side, go for OnePlus One, its cheap, well made, and camera is top notch (maybe not the best, but one of the best). Battery life is really good, full day of hard work is easly achieved.
What'd be better to get, Nexus 5, LG G3 or One M8?
G3

I've had that for some months now...
Oh and it's a staged roll out where some people get 480p and 1080p options..

I think the rollout finished about 3 weeks ago, read an article

Or just get a wireless router.
Unless your Nexus 4 is rev12, do not get Nokia wireless chargers. Older rev's have issues with charging being interrupted very often on Nokia chargers.
I bought this for my Nexus 5, arrived this friday:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200973639674?var=500192246156&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
Works pretty much just like you'd expect. Makes NO beeping sound when you put the phone on it, which a lot of the cheap chargers do. Has a little LED light that glows either red (not charging) or blue (charging).
The usb cable that comes with has a really long microUSB port which ends up sticking out of the charger, which looks weird. I just use the cable that came with my Nexus 5, that one fits like a glove.
Charging speeds match up with what is posted in this thread, although that is Nexus 5 specific:

Wow, that one is nice. I bought one of eBay a couple weeks ago, I wasn't fortunate enough to have someone overbid my $30 bid (never eBay when tired or drunk, kids), so it's on its way. It's more like a cylinder that has a slanted top, though.

Sorry, I guess it's more to do with WCDMA and LTE. As far as I heard it mostly concerns North-American bands
Huh, we use the 2600 band. How much was it?
Anyone here know how long samsung should take repairing my phone? I'm thinking about activating my old iphone to use as a temp but i don't know if its worth it.
Goodbye iPhone, hello HTC One.
Right now, I am in doubt - leave it be with Sense, or S-Off it, and install GPE rom.

Camera's gonna be shit in GPE and Sense functions close enough to #holoyolo without too much UI vomit all over it, so I'd say stick with sense. It's doing my HTC One pretty good.
When I used my HTC One S I used to like Sense's UX and UI more than AOSP

Sense 5 though, 4 was really weird
[editline]21st July 2014[/editline]
S-off it right away though
I love Sense too, but thought, that there is any real advantage in GPE...
And why do S-Off, If I am not gonna flash anything?
Or just get a wireless router.

The wireless hot spot router would cost more than a used LTE compatible tablet. That and I'd use the tablet for server stuff.
G3
I've been thinking pretty much the same as Chains, more than likely to get the G3 at this stage. Seems like a nice upgrade from my S3 and my hand can accommodate the bigger screen.
The wireless hot spot router would cost more than a used LTE compatible tablet. That and I'd use the tablet for server stuff.
Yeah, but with the router, you could have Ethernet out.
I can get an upgrade to a G3 for the same cost as my current plan but with 4G and more data and get the phone for free. Now to wait two weeks for my contract to be up.

Really, I think it's a tie. I demoed the G3 on Saturday during my carrier switch. It's a great looking phone and the screen is fantastic, but the M8's more substantial build, what with the aluminum and all, just feels better to hold, plus the M8 has really good speakers. It's a personal preference though.
Do you have the option to check them out for yourself before buying? The last few weeks for me have been a hard lesson in knowing exactly what you're getting into.
Yeah, but with the router, you could have Ethernet out.
Well how can I make it so it uses my LTE connection?
All I need to wait for to get 4G is for the coverage around my area to get better.
My provider supports it, and so does my phone/sim, but it's not been rolled out yet.

The video just doesn't have anything past 360p, it's an old discovery show :v:
The video just doesn't have anything past 360p, it's an old discovery show :v:
it would be useful for 1080p stuff to show up as 1080p on mobile, especially for any fast moving scenes, the video doesn't break up as much.
So I have an LG G3 now, I absolutely hate the screen.
It has this absolutely terrible sharpening effect which makes every bit of text on the screen look like garbage. I absolutely love everything else about the phone in every way and the stock rom is actually very good(other than T-Mobile's nazi mobile hotspot garbage) but I can't get over how terrible text looks.
I'm really scared it can't be fixed with a kernel since it's also appearing in TWRP.. If it's not fixed by the middle of August I'm taking the phone back and getting another LG G2 which is only $400 at T-Mobile or $300 on Swappa.
[editline]21st July 2014[/editline]
If you're thinking about getting the G3, I highly suggest using the demo unit to view Facepunch, XDA or any other forums as I really hate using Google Search or viewing any forums on mine because of how terrible it looks.
I have a LG G2 and a LG G3 side by side and honestly I'm inclined to say the G2 has a better screen.
That sharpening effect isn't due to the screen but rather the software (drivers/ROM). A custom ROM might be able to remove it but honestly they should have just left it as an option in Accessibility settings

Yeah, we do too, it's around 400$ for 16gb on aliexpress(chinese ebay, ships worldwide), unless you can wait for those official international invites. It's still worth it considering 16gb nexus 5's go for the same price.
