Aren't LTE radios slightly less power sucking than 3G/HSPA as well? I've heard people getting better battery life on the Moto G LTE over the HSPA+ version while off wifi
[editline]23rd July 2014[/editline]
hell one of my friends was able to get like 5h SOT over 13 hours at AC this year with the G LTE...
I'm fairly sure LTE radios are going to be slightly more power hungry than HSPA due to all the complex technology used in constructing and deconstructing the signal
[editline]23rd July 2014[/editline]
It would probably depend on the SOC though
Damn it Rogers, why the hell does it cost more reward points for unlimited SMS in Canada than it is compared to unlimited USA/International/Everywhere else in the world SMS?

Moved from a Samsung Galaxy S3 to LG G3. I like it.
So I got a Samsung Galaxy S5. Does anyone know anything I can do to make the use of the fingerprint scanner less shit? Cause I really like the idea of a login that nobody(or at least not some random person) can abuse.
Thinking of buying a new phone with my tax return. My Nexus 4 is starting to show it's age
Budget isn't an issue, what phone would you guys recommend? As much as I like Nexus, it would be nice to have a change from stock android.

I'm really liking the M8. Sense is actually really nice and everything is smooth. Speakers are a nice touch too. Its a great phone if your willing to live with the okay camera (which is fine by my standards).
It seems like HD to me.
I never had that problem. I got HD streaming from netflix, and I can use my other devices like normal, all on a 5/0.5 connection
It is HD. The problem is that its outputting 1080p when my TV is 720p. It makes edges look blurry and undefined. I actually bugged it once into setting 720p and everything looked legitimately better. Animations were a bit smoother too.
Demache, able to post some example shots please?
I am leaning towards the one M8 though, everyone says it's a very, very good phone.
That sharpening effect isn't due to the screen but rather the software (drivers/ROM). A custom ROM might be able to remove it but honestly they should have just left it as an option in Accessibility settings
I'm pretty sure LG's stock drivers/rom don't have effect in TWRP? The effect is there in TWRP.

I really haven't used the camera too much, so I don't really have much of a selection. Although these are all snapshots, so don't expect beautiful pictures trying to take advantage of the camera.

I did include one as an example of very low light. Its the one with horrid focus. But no joke, the light bulb was the only thing lighting up that floor of the parking ramp (the other three weren't better). Sketchiest fucking parking ramp I've been in. The fire extinguishers hadn't been inspected since 2003. :v:
If you guys had the choice would you get a Nexus 5 or a Moto G? I'm asking this because I know in the next few months Google will probably unveil their newest phone in the Nexus line and it might be worth it to hold off on buying a phone that costs above $200 until that is released. A Moto G should be sufficient for what I would use on a day to day basis but I know for a fact that the Nexus 5 would be more than enough for what I would want to use. Would getting the N5 now be worth it knowing that Google will probably release another Nexus device in the coming months? Or should I go with the Moto G for now to hold me over and then switch that to a backup device after getting a Nexus 6?

That's actually pretty good, much better than my N4.
Turns out I had a good amount of store credit after cancelling an order, so I just bought one, after reading a few review as well.
Shame my phone plan doesn't have LTE.

If you care about battery life, my Nexus 5 is getting destroyed by ShaunOfTheLive's Moto G.

Really, indoor shots and night shots are where the camera really shines. Lighting that my GNex was useless in is actually doable with the M8. And that's without the flash.
Anyone know if the knockoff HTC One M8 dot cases work? They apparently have full functionality, but don't want to go spending £10 on one for it to not work then have to go buy the official tissue £30 one.
I just got a spigen slim armor case, was this a good buy?
Sorta late but I've got one on my N5, it's been accidentally launched cartwheeling across a concrete floor. Just scuffed the corners a bit. Love it
Don't suppose there is something like winulator thats being worked on and works on nexus 5?

I wouldn't recommend the official dot case. Everywhere I read about it, the case offers little to no protection, the flap gets in the way a lot since it can't sit flush with the back of the phone, and most importantly, the flap doesn't stay shut.

I've got one for my g2 and I've dropped it at work from about 6 feet on to concrete. Didn't even leave a mark.

Check out the LG G3, supposedly the very best Android phone money can buy right now. Personally I find the 2K screen pointless, but everything else about that phone rocks.
Remember a year ago when everyone hated LG? :v:
Then they made the nexus 4 and 5

I thought the sharpness of the screen made it hard to read anything. That's what someone said in this thread like 3 days ago.

Well I mean before that people loved the N4 but every other LG device was cancer
Now the G2/G3 and the Nexus 5 is recommended alongside the high-end devices. Its interesting.
Must've missed that, but I guess it's best to at least try one in person.
I bought two moto g's for myself and one for my girlfriend about five months ago. We both only charge our phones when its almost completely dead and watch to remove it when its finished (although some people will say this isn't a problem for battery life anymore.) The battery used to last into the third day from when it was charged, but now both are barely lasting a whole day. I've read online this isn't uncommon with these phones, and I'm really hating that the battery life I had before is gone. I am just not happy with it.
Not to mention the camera is shit, the girlfriend definitely wants a better camera on the next phone.

Maybe it's because they stopped shipping phones with that horrible UI? Or because they started making high quality devices?
I think it all changed with the Nexus 4. The Optimus G wasn't that popular, but then the G2 came and blew everyone's minds, then the Nexus 5 came out of it, and LG is making decent mid-end phones now as well. Now the saga continues with the G3.
As a person who considered buying an Optimus 2X as his first Android phone but decided against it after the terrible reviews and issues, I'm really amazed how LG got its shit together.
Personally I hope they dethrone Samsung as the most popular Android phone manufacturer.

I really doubt it, the main reason Samsung so popular is the huge marketing budget they have for those phones.

They won't.
Samsung's marketing and "Put in ALL of the features" strategy is too effective with the general populace.
Cyanogenmod's calculator is telling me that the tangent of 90 degrees is approximately 16 quadrillion, among other things. It doesn't let me explicitly divide by zero but this isn't the first glitch I've noticed.
How did this even happen
