Got myself an LG G3 just now in the mail! It seems I have to root it for some of the things I wanna do but I don't wanna potentially break my fancy new toy Does anyone have any guides or something I could use so I don't completely fall on my face? I did jailbreak an iPhone 4 back in the day so I guess I can follow instructions properly

Can't find anyway to turn it back on.
Jokes aside, how come there are so many reports of Samsung phones just suddenly killing themselves or catching fire while charging? Samsung is one of the largest electronics companies and they can't even get heat dissipation right.
Samsung have bad quality control as far as I can tell
I don't have any problems with my s4 after turning off all the bloat aside from the screen. It's shit and flickers on occasion. Coworker is a massive samsung fan though and will not admit any of their phones have a single problem. Maybe I'll convince him to get a 1+1.
Had to switch back to CM11 milestone snapshots, from Carbon ROM. Say what you want about CM11 milestones, but they're stable and reliable.

I.E. It would randomly say "Cannot connect to camera" and the only fix for that would be rebooting.
Decided to do a Speedtest using just my shitty 2G mobile internet. I can use 3G but cause I'm using a 2G sim card I have very very very little signal to no signal at all when on 3G. [t]http://i.imgur.com/x9BEGON.png[/t]

But I do at least recognise that the S4 (among others) has shitty quality control in manufacturing and the company has bad customer support overall.

Man, that's not even on EDGE, that's on GPRS :v: you poor soul
This has probably been asked before, but what's the best ad blocker for Android?
Adblock/AdAway.
Adaway > Adblock
Adaway blocks everything, even most of those in app ads
Oh also I'm assuming if I've rooted my phone with towelroot, updating will undo the root
you can fix that by flashing the samsung camera apk or something like that, one of my friends did it. i can ask him if you need.
I have a One M8 now since that phone was a piece of shit anyway, but thanks :v:
I have a One M8 now since that phone was a piece of shit anyway, but thanks :v:
congrats on getting rid of it before it died. my friend's phone shat the bed and now he has a xperia z (he bought it with the refund from the s3, lmao)
How worth it is it to root and replace the ROM on the G3 or HTC One M8?
Getting a used ATT One M8 w/ root tomorrow, wondering if it's worthwhile keeping root on it and how hard would it be to remove root (never used an HTC phone before).
Getting a used ATT One M8 w/ root tomorrow, wondering if it's worthwhile keeping root on it and how hard would it be to remove root (never used an HTC phone before).
Theres no reason to not have root.
Getting a used ATT One M8 w/ root tomorrow, wondering if it's worthwhile keeping root on it and how hard would it be to remove root (never used an HTC phone before).
I've been using a mostly stock ROM on mine. It mostly removes Verizon bloat since Sense is actually really nice on the M8 and doesn't feel bloaty at all. Root on the international version is pretty easy I've heard, but since I had the Verizon one, I needed to use an exploit. It might be the case with the AT&T one as well, but its fairly easy nontheless. Its just copying a couple files over ADB and running a script.
the way i see it, with the towelroot exploit in the wild, it's safer to be rooted and have a proper SU manager, so that if you do download an apk with the towelroot exploit, you'll know if it tries to use root
Walked into the verizon store a few blocks down to get some hands on with their phones because my Sprint store is too far to bike. "I'm thinking about buying a new phone.... (but not from yooouuuu)" Dat G3 doe.

What messaging services do you guys use that integrate SMS with data-based messaging? Like iMessage or Hangouts? I'm trying to convince one of my friends to use one of them but they don't want to give up the themes and stuff they have in the stock messaging app. I know of GoSMS but I remember the data based delivery being spotty and I really just hate how many ads there are. Not to mention half of the stuff can't even be read since the developers clear don't have English as their first language.
Most people use WhatsApp or Kik, I use kik because two of my friends use it because I'm friends with both. They're dating each other but she doesn't want her dad to see all her texting and stuff going to him so it just shows up as data instead of SMS

I don't want to use different apps to talk to different people, I just want people using the same app to use data instead of terrible SMS/MMS Basically I'm looking for Hangouts but with something that lets you set themes and customize the look of the app

Its slow, unreliable (you have no idea how many times I've gotten fucked by delayed or undelivered messages) and prone to collisions. The only time I had issues with Hangouts was when it went full retard and wouldn't add me to Android chat. Otherwise, no problems. Hell, Skype is more reliable then SMS/MMS. It needs to fucking die. But as for your question, no I haven't. I really haven't heard of any that do.
