But do those have seamless integration? I don't want to use different apps to talk to different people, I just want people using the same app to use data instead of terrible SMS/MMS Basically I'm looking for Hangouts but with something that lets you set themes and customize the look of the app
No you need to make respective accounts
wrong. if an apk uses the towelroot exploit they obviously dont need to go through ur su manager to root your device.
i thought once you had a su manager, everything that wanted root had to go through it
I don't know why people have this preference toward old SMS/MMS. Its slow, unreliable (you have no idea how many times I've gotten fucked by delayed or undelivered messages) and prone to collisions. The only time I had issues with Hangouts was when it went full retard and wouldn't add me to Android chat. Otherwise, no problems. Hell, Skype is more reliable then SMS/MMS. It needs to fucking die. But as for your question, no I haven't. I really haven't heard of any that do.
I don't think people have a preference for SMS/MMS, I think it's just that most phone developers provide their own messaging apps instead of just having Hangouts. Most of my friends on Android don't even know they have Hangouts. Plus, Hangouts isn't perfect yet in my opinion. There's still a lack of customization (which I can get over) but it's still impossible to share video directly from the app. I'm not sure why we're still missing this feature.
On one hand, the G3 looks great but I hear that LG's apps are kind of annoying and limiting (Not being abler to rebind the shortcuts on the back. I hear the One Plus One is also great but the software is still buggy. I assume it will get fixed soon. Galaxy S5 just seems really childish and not very attractive compared to these other ones now and it's prime features gimmicky. And I am just super wary of the HTC M8 because the last HTC product I had (Wildfire) had bloatware out the wazoo. I got the go-ahead to get a new phone, right now it's down to trying to score a One+One or an HTC M8 with the G3 trailing close behind and the S5 being last. Any thoughts?
LG's stock software on the G3 is wonderful, it's the only software that outside of T-Mobile's paid hotspot shit I haven't wanted to just rip out of the phone ASAP. It has all the same issues like piss poor DPI and headphone volume limiting though. Not that HTC/Sony/Samsung don't have all of those issues. Otherwise when you debloat it a little, it's very very good! I just can't stand the screen, I'm returning my G3 tomorrow for a G2 and eating the $50 restocking fee.
I'm bouncing around my priorities so much. I think the smart option would be to go with the S5 because it's IP67 and I live in super rainy Oregon and I live an active and adventurous lifestyle (so the extra durability would be nice). I like the camera, and honestly I'll have a case on it so people will see my case instead of the plastic back. That being said I'd TOTALLY go with a One + One purely because of the great deal and power it packs. It really hit it home with everything I care about most.
I live in Oregon and I let the rain rain on all of my phones lol, water really doesn't hurt devices unless you submerge them. The G3 camera is also better than the G2 and OIS makes it better than the S5 IMO.
How are you holding up with the sharpening filter?
Returning it for a G2, just gonna grab a 805 phone on the next flagship reiteration. Maybe a Nexus 6 or whatever comes out. I'm not really a fan of the size either, the G3 doesn't comfortably fit in my somewhat large hands since I hold my phone often with my index finger on the top left and thumb under the bottom left and this has caused hand cramps and actually soreness initially. I'm really going to miss the aesthetics, removable battery, wireless charging ability and the 3gb of ram. The battery life was somewhat lackluster but totally acceptable and better than Samsung. It's just really not worth the upgrade, the G2 is an absolutely amazing device and can be had cheaper used than a Nexus 5(second hand/resold).

[editline]29th July 2014[/editline] BTW it's good to be back in this thread. It's been a busy summer :P [editline]29th July 2014[/editline] Prepare for me to fanboy over the Moto X+1.

[t]http://i.cubeupload.com/AZ0zgw.png[/t] I don't know about the launcher because I prefer using Nova Launcher with custom icons.
What do you not like about the G3's screen? After looking around today I think I want the G3.

There's still a lack of customization (which I can get over) but it's still impossible to share video directly from the app. I'm not sure why we're still missing this feature.
With Hangouts, it's really hard to get notifications for messages if GCM (Google Cloud Messaging) is somehow blocked on let's say a work WiFi network. This only affects mobile devices, not laptops. My school wifi was retarded like that. Skype on the other hand, you can pretty much switch to any port. With What's App and other ones, they use their own thing and is less likely to get blocked. I still try to get people to use Hangouts because it is literally the most convenient for me, I have it on my phone, I can switch back and forth between different accounts (I'm looking at you Skype), the mobile client doesn't suck that badly, there is a desktop/PC browser version that works alright (I'm looking at you What's App) and it is kinda on every Android device. If you logged in or have a Google account, you pretty much have Hangouts. Photo sending is pretty fast, it's not peer-to-peer where it takes forever. Video quality for video calls is much better than Skype. Emojis are fun and the god damn "has read here" and typing indicators are amazing. Especially in large group chats, you will pretty much know who has read what and if they are looking at the chat or typing. Sharing stuff like photos and links is super easy because of how well the Share button works on Android. Although recently the app has been shit, it force closes a lot. At least it is better than the painful battery drain, especially for group text chats that have been made in the past 7-8 months. The resolution and quality of the photos when you send them directly into chats are sometimes turned into low resolution crap. On other occasions, it is full resolution originals. I have no idea how it works or why it does that. If you are on mobile, there is no way of checking until you download and when you do it is probably a low res version just for your device (I got super shit low res all the time on my potato) but on desktop, it is full res. I can't directly do a voice call, I'd have to do a video call and turn off my camera. The one I'm voice calling would have to turn off theirs too. Sometimes adding people doesn't work, although I haven't done many recently, in the past some people couldn't get added for some stupid reason. Also you don't really get notifications for invites which is why a lot of people missed/couldn't find the chats when added into them. I don't know why there is no video or file sending, I guess Google wants to use Google Drive. Other issues for other people stopped them from seeing or joining calls or group chats so the whole group ended up switching to Skype which just happens to work fine. When you are in a video call, on desktop there is two separate chats. One for the group chat, one that only exists during the call. So if the text chatter is on the one that only exists during the call, you cannot see or access it on the android app. It's super annoying. Also you cannot use fancy filters or draw stuff on yourself or others on the mobile app. Overall, Hangouts right now is really a 7/10 for me. Skype is 6/10. I literally use Hangouts way more than all of the other methods of chat including SMS combined. I also stopped trying to be Hangouts exclusive and use Skype, Facebook messenger if needed but I still try to push it or use it to talk to people over other services. We all know how shitty the Skype app is and I don't have a lot of people on Facebook.
i thought once you had a su manager, everything that wanted root had to go through it
nope. if an exploit gets root its own way, it does not need to ask the su manager. that's just how it works. here's an easy way to prove it: downgrade your device, root it and then try rooting it again with towelroot. unless towelroot has some code to detect whether your device is already rooted, your su manager won't notify you that towelroot has escalated to root. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] basically towelroot does not ever call su, plain and simple. it just uses a memory exploit to set its uid to 0.

Also, it's been patched in CM11 M8 so IDGAF personally.
no, towelroot does not patch the exploit. it is impossible for towelroot to patch the exploit. in order for towelroot to patch the exploit, towelroot would have to edit the kernel. it may be able to patch it by memory patching the kernel, but then the exploit will come back after a restart.
Coworker got a G3, upgraded from a smashed the fuck up iPhone 4. It's purdy. The 4K sample video it has on the phone plays nice, but lol @ 99% of other content barely even being 1080p.
Yeah I went from a Samsung Galaxy S2 to the LG G3 and it almost feels like going from a bike to a sportscar :v:
It's quite a pretty phone. Screen's so much larger than my M8 despite being similar sizes. He got the cool flip case with the little window, too. It's actually rather snazzy lookin'. As a graphics design minor who hates postprocessing, the sharpening filter didn't drive me nuts.

I like whenever I listen to the Red Bar show and every time I open my phone I'm greeted with Mike's humongous face [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/4505817/Screenshot_2014-07-29-14-31-09.jpg[/t]
Just ordered my phone from EE, will be delivered when my upgrade is due on Monday. £32 a month for unlimited texts, minutes and 2gb of 4g with a free One M8. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] And EE just phoned me and said they won't have any One M8's instock for 2 weeks. Why list them then you plebs. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] Oh god, the hold music sounds like someone playing a piano and stopping every few seconds cause they forgot the keys.
Well that was faster than what I expected:
is the screen yellow though
It is definitely a much warmer color than my other phone, but I'm not seeing the infamous band on the bottom. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] 56 GB free. Feels good coming from a 16 GB phone :v:
I should get this http://www.meenova.com/
Transformed my HTC One M7 to GPE, played around with it a bit... and returned to Sense. It's hard to change your habits, especially when you remember Sense being TouchFlo.
So I didn't check 500 pages of thread to see if someone mentioned it, but it's possible to install kali linux alongside Android... My head is explodes... Anyone done this here yet?
I've pretty much read every post here and I don't remember anyone messing with Kali here. [editline]30th July 2014[/editline] I will not guarantee you that my memory is serving me right.
Well I am getting an Android phone soon so I will let peeps know hows it goes.
How do I know if my LCD screen or digitizer screen is broken? I dropped my SGH-T679 and now its all cracked and now my back button doesn't work, but the touch screen still works fine and I can still open apps, etc.
Well, can you see any colors mixing/being wrong? Does it fail to register touches at times? Sounds like the capacitive buttons are broken on your device, not the LCD
So I didn't check 500 pages of thread to see if someone mentioned it, but it's possible to install kali linux alongside Android... My head is explodes... Anyone done this here yet?
I have no idea why I would want to run kali linux on my phone.
I have no idea why I would want to run kali linux on my phone.
Nexus 7 at the coffee shop is way more stealth than your waifu pillow and 6-year old ThinkPad with a Richard Stallman decal on the cover.
