I have the very first 16GB Nexus 7 tablet. Haven't used it much but wish I could make more use of it.
Any tips on speeding this thing up? With each update it seems to get slower :(
It's basically a fancy clock at this point.
Try this:
Paranoid Android
Franco Kernel (play around with some settings there)
ART
I recently did it all and it runs brilliantly now.
I got another screen protector, applied it really good, but there is that one smallass thing that only show up on strange angle, on white background, and reflect pixels. Its not that big deal, it is really small, I hope I will ignore it later on. I cant afford another screen protector just because Im weird with those things, lol
Anyone else have had that thing under screen? You ignore it now?

Well the screen is super clean whenever I apply it.
Anyone know what this icon means on the status bar of Sense? It appears whenever I run a game.
You: could i choose not to add data
Mark Anthony: So sorry but data add on is required for the phone to work.

Mine was too, but I dont live in sterile room, unfortunately. Its not that bad that its dust.
So John Lewis has the samsung tab pro 8.4 on offer for £220.
I'm getting paid at the end of the week, and I was wondering if it's worth the price? I've been hoarding all my ebooks, and I really want a good tablet to read them on.

Do it in a bathroom after a hot shower. The humid environment helps.
Is the nexus 7 a good buy or is there something else on the horizon?
Is the nexus 7 a good buy or is there something else on the horizon?
I personally think tablets are superfluous devices and I would recommend looking into laptop/tablet hybrids if you want the best of both worlds.
(my desktop, my phone, and my surface pro are more than i need already)

The Nexus 8/9 is possibly around the corner (like, within the next month), though it will be more expensive than the Nexus 7
I got a galaxy tab 3 for free. If I'd paid anymore than that I don't think I'd have gotten it. But I also haven't touched my laptop since I got it.
I think something like the Nexus 7 can hit enough people that it would still sell, but I agree in general about tablets. Dat $200 for a 7 inch screen with decent internals though. Plus with phone screens getting bigger, the difference is shrinking. When I had my Droid 2, my Nexus 7 was great.
I too am getting a Nexus 7 with LTE come next payday. There's a good deal with one of my local carriers. Really affordable as heck. I can finally read comics on the go now!
Um
It's a fairly old device with a less than stellar processor and 1GB of RAM. It's not gonna perform that great no matter what.
Also, didn't Asus put really shitty flash memory in the first Nexus 7?
Its not that bad of memory (not great, but it was a $200 device with an SSD). Its just that Android didn't properly support TRIM at the time the 2012 Nexus 7 was released. It made it much laggier than it really should have been. In Jelly Bean and KitKat, it was much better.
But agreed on the speed part. Its about as fast as it will ever be, with a first gen quad core and 1 GB of RAM.

You can't expect Cleopatra's husband to know anything about smartphones
Just flashed stock 4.4.4. to flash the new radios and went back to PA.
For whatever reason when I updated it to the latest stable earlier, before flashing the new radios it broke Gapps.
i never have patience to reflash so often, i literally hate having to re-authenticate my apps over again.
so i usually wait till a big update to roms, or i feel like i need a clean install
I don't use my Nexus 7 for much aside from reading comics these days but I still don't regret picking it up
I used to use my Nexus 7 to check Twitter, Reddit, Facebook in bed, but since I got the One M8, it's screen is so good I just use it for everything now.

That app usage
I wish 3G didn't eat up my entire battery life in an hour even if I'm using intensely I've seen other phones handle it well

Tho mind you I went with Amaysim and I'm loving having 4GB of Internet, however this will have to end after September because they're being cockbags and increasing the monthly cost from 39.90 to 44.90 and I simply can't afford that

If app usage is higher than screen, you're either playing 3D stuff nonstop or you've got wakelocks out the ass
just ordered a 1+1, hype.
i'll no longer have to endure my htc one s with its shitty screen and battery.
