Hey everyone, I've been due for a phone upgrade for almost 3 years now but haven't upgraded yet, I was going to wait on the iPhone 6 but then I remembered that I've wanted to switch over to Android phones for awhile now Anyone has suggestions as to what Android phone I should go for? It'll be my first one, my entire family has Android devices except me.
We need a little more info. Budget? Carrier (flag-dog says your in the US)? Contract or no-contract? Important features you look for in a mobile device? What did you like about iOS and is there something comparable on Android? With there being so many, you need to narrow down your options to certain criteria. Figuring this out is important when it comes to being satisfied with your device. One phone does not fit all needs.

Things that I'm looking for -Good screen size/resolution -Good/great camera quality -Durable construction

I would mention the One M8, but its camera isn't the best. Its decent as far as image quality goes and take pretty good low light pictures, but if your used to a higher resolution, 4 MP may leave a lot to be desired. I would have mentioned the Nexus 5, but the Nexus 6 is probably going to be released in a couple months.
I kinda wanna install a rom on my N7. recommendations?
Can anyone recommend a good utility for undervolting my CPU on my s4? [editline]28th August 2014[/editline] Eh, looks like my kernel may not support it [editline]29th August 2014[/editline] Now that my home connection has gone to shit, I've found out USB tethering no longer works on my phone for whatever fucking reason. Hotspot works without flaw, but god forbid I want to use it on my desktop.

Just an update on that post I wrote up a few days ago on removing the Google Play services wakelocks. Here's how my battery is currently riding along: [t]http://i.imgur.com/2qrHVYU.png[/t]
After a month of ditching the screen protector for my Nexus 5, I actually spent time to look for scratches and it's just a bunch of hairline scratches everywhere that you don't really see unless it's upclose. *shrug*
What was the screen on time?
When I took the screenshot it was just over an hour.
So my Nexus 7 just came in.. And its a 2012 model. Thinking of selling it for the same price i bought it which is 100 euro and to buy the 2013 version from it. Would that be worth it? I think there are some big speed/resolution differences between the 2012 and 2013.
Yes there are significant improvements. You might as well.
Hm, to think of it. Are there any real/trustworthy hints towards a new Nexus tablets? I know that a few months ago i also started to look for when the new tablet would be announced but it seems to be in the same state as it is now with "YES NOW ITS REALLY COMING, GUYs, NOW ITS REALLY GOING TO BE ANNOUNCED!".
Should I buy a One Plus when I can or wait for the next Nexus? Is there a chance it could be better than a One Plus for the same price
Should I buy a One Plus when I can or wait for the next Nexus? Is there a chance it could be better than a One Plus for the same price
I think the nexus would be more expensive, esp for a 64gb version. I can see it having worse battery life as well.
I'm thinking about getting a OnePlus One in the future, considering it's WAY cheaper than my other option which was a Lumia. Do they have any plans to bring out something newer soon however?
You won't be seeing a Oneplus Two for a long time.
Fair enough, probably get one after Christmas if I can't get the cash before then.
Already did a whole lot on my Nexus 7, installed Xubuntu, ran Windows 98, played some Age of Empires 2 for about 2 hours, installed a shizzle load of apps to try and experiment on. Gotta say i am starting to get happy with it. Any tweak/app that would be essential for a Nexus 7 device?
So I bought Wakelock Detector and Gravitybox, aside from Google Search and Play Services what apps should I be preventing?
Google Hangouts unless you're using it for SMS or actually chatting in the FP Group Chats.
It's just for SMS, I also prevented Mobile Broadcasts since Mobile Standby is my most used app apparently.

Okay so this is really annoying, I want to remove the pattern screen unlock but it's greyed out. Google told me I should remove all credentials or something, which I did. I also disabled every app that can be a system administrator (somehow my university email want complete control of my phone), but it's still greyed out. What do?
Man so happy, on the 9th of September Google will hold a press event in India where they most likely announce some new stuff (obviously :v:) and i orderd my Nexus 7 yesterday. Pretty shocked i just looked up on how to cancel my order when i saw that for any reason i can return my Nexus 7 within 15 days of arrival and get a full refund. So yeah, thank Google for that
They'll announce Google One stuff (cheap phones for poorer markets like India), not likely we'll see other stuff.
Hm, guessing that it still could be 4 months or more till we see new Nexus devices?
Well, I made it a whole year before feeling the need to root and flash SU and xPosed onto my Nexus 4. It was still pretty snappy, but I wanted a bit more out of it. So instead I totally fucked up the stock ROM, my wireless kept turning off until a reboot, it kept killing my wireless repeater somehow, the battery was draining overnight with no apps in the battery history. Fuck, I have no idea how I managed all of that. Flashed LiquidSmooth onto it and the battery life has been fucking amazing since with no noticeable drop in performance. Thanks ROMs, you de-fucked it all!
