There's two of them, the 2013 and 2014 model. Both are similar speced.
Shit trailer, just shots of indian people and almost no shots of the phone. [editline]15th September 2014[/editline] I'd like to see Android One coming to Europe, though. And maybe let future Nexus phones have FM Radio as well, by default.
The thing about FM radio in first world countries is that it's slowing being fazed out to be replaced with DAB or just internet radio.
Satellite radio is actually still popular.
Paid 41 euro for 1+ invite. Total came to just below 350 euro with a screen protector and shipping and parcel motel in Ireland. So total I paid around 390 for it which is fine because it's pretty much the most powerful phone around.
I don't know man, for 310 euro you can get the asian market version with cyanogen installed by the vendor. Works pretty well for me. Have the phone since like middle of july. Unless you're talking about the 64 gig
Yeah talking about the 64gb
Satellite radio is actually still popular.
Satellite radio =/= FM radio. It doesn't seem to be like DAB either, even though it is (Digital Audio Broadcast) The main difference being that DAB is free (at least here in Norway), while satellite costs.

FM is still the de facto medium for broadcast radio.
Used a 1+1 as my daily driver for today, touch screen issues were annoying as hell and I kinda don't like the sandstone feeling after using it longer and longer. I actually like the feeling of my Nexus 5. Maybe it's because I've used it for the past ~6 months and have gotten used to it. This week is when the OTA update to fix the god damn touch screen issues. So many people reported having the issue it's just sad. When it's fixed I do see the 1+1 becoming my daily driver because of the slightly better specs and bigger battery. I would have ended up getting 6-7 hours of SOT with my normal usage vs. the 2-3 hours of SOT with my Nexus 5. The screen is too fucking big tho. Nexus 5 feels like the perfect size for me.

So the one has a microsd port yet KitKat has probably some of the shittest SD card support ever, what does that say about L then?
Well I'd assume Android One would run Android L and those Android One devices would probably have microSD card slots because it would be required in those markets.

I had none problems with touch issues, but anyway, next ota should help. And size... after 2 months I would never go back to smaller phone, It just takes time to get used to it.
So the one has a microsd port yet KitKat has probably some of the shittest SD card support ever, what does that say about L then?
That you will need to root your phone to survive. Why can't Google just not be dicks about things
Main thing that's similar to DAB in the US is HD Radio, but its not very common and most radios can't tune to it anyway. FM is still the de facto medium for broadcast radio.
Yeah, DAB's gonna be real popular here in Norway come 2017, after we turn off the FM band.
My HTC M7 just died. At the service center they told me, that battery was faulty, and burned the motherboard while charging, but I am not eglible for free repair, because my warranty expired 3 months ago. Ok, decided to buy myself something new, looked at LG... now can't decide between Nexus 5 (google support + I liked this design) and G2 (bigger screen and battery, but horrific "korean" plastic).
Got the armor case for my G2. Good bye thin bezels ;_;7
So I tried Cardboard with my current smartphone. (LGMS 559, really old but gets the job done) First experiences were poor: no WebGL, so the vr experiences off Chrome Experiments were broken. Then I tried the cardboard app. It flat out didn't work. Then I tried Youtube without the cardboard app, and a magical thing happened: If I watched a video of someone playing a game /other cool thing with Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2, and there weren't any overlays (like those fucking facecams), cardboard VR worked perfectly. The Chromatic Abberation bug, visible in a few videos, even dissappeared when watching it via Cardboard. Here's a video that works in Cardboard using raw Oculus footage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WYbD3Y67QY This one displays the chromatic abberation bug I mentioned - the shadow edges are the wrong color on the edges of the screen: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zJISM7hDzs
I bought some "Head Cases" for my One M8, the print and image quality on them are great. Shame they're just pretty flimsy pieces of plastic.

re: sd cards congrats you guys you're not buying cheap class one sd cards! but the average "i have a samesung galaxy" doesn't know what class means, so they're gonna buy the cheapest shittiest sd card around, and that reflects badly on android because they don't know any better
If you want, install Cyanogen nightlies, there is fix already in that.
Wouldn't that require root? And/or unlocked boot loader?
Yeah, DAB's gonna be real popular here in Norway come 2017, after we turn off the FM band.
AFAIK, we have no plans to do such for a long time. It doesn't really matter since HD Radio piggybacks off the standard FM signal. Radio Text is starting to become a thing finally so I'm not concerned about metadata. The stupid awful level of loudness compression on most stations is a bigger problem IMHO. Stupid loudness wars.
I had a weird dream where I bought a Moto 360 and the silver "metal" was flaking away to reveal... wood. :v: I don't know sometimes.
I'm digging this transition to DAB, because we haven't had a usable radio signal in our cars for the last 6-7 years, not even with this newer car (apparently it's been bad since it was new though), and the signal at home has been absolutely terrible, but the DAB actually works (and with DAB we can get all radio stations, instead of just the local station and one other, with terrible signal, and there's just more stations in general) [editline]16th September 2014[/editline]
I had a weird dream where I bought a Moto 360 and the silver "metal" was flaking away to reveal... wood. :v: I don't know sometimes.
Dreams are weird sometimes. I dreamt that I dropped my Nexus 5™, and split it down the long side. Somehow, the screen didn't crack at all, it was just two pieces. When I held the two pieces together, though, it worked just fine.

I've gotten stations 200 miles away (and strong enough that it was in stereo and could decode radio text). But yet I have issues get some stations just 50 miles away (despite them having fairly strong transmitters). Also can depend on your headunit/antenna too. My Kenwood fares much better than the stock Ford one.
